In an appearance on Morning Joe, Rudy Giuliani tried to stir a fake controversy over former President Bill Clinton’s speech tonight at the Democratic National Convention. “Are they gonna have him on in prime-time?” Giuliani asked, “or are they gonna do to him what they did to Governor Warner and stick him in two slots earlier.” (Clinton will speak in the 9-10 pm hour ET.) MSNBC analyst David Shuster immediately shot back: “Yeah right, as opposed to sticking him on the first night of the convention like what the Republicans are doing with George W. Bush and Vice President Cheney?” Watch it:
Host Joe Scarborough asked, “How strange is it that they’re putting the sitting President of the United States on Monday night, Labor Day? Doesn’t that say all that needs to be said about George Bush’s standing in the country?”
Nobody likes Bush or Cheney, not even the Repugs. How on earth could they?
August 27th, 2008 at 11:05 amWhat’s the best adjective to describe Dubya’s status?
Toxic
Repugnant
Radioactive
Cursed
Anathema
Loathsome
Odious
So many to choose from…
August 27th, 2008 at 11:10 amGotta give Schuster credit for a zinger now and then.
August 27th, 2008 at 11:10 amDoesn’t that say all that needs to be said about George Bush’s standing in the country?”
The country can’t stand him, his own party can’t stand him and yet McCain has every intention of continuing his presidency. That’s beyond stupid.

August 27th, 2008 at 11:11 amIt’s funny how the Republicans have to tapdance around the fact that they have to run away from the President while still trying to run on his coattails….
August 27th, 2008 at 11:12 amIf even Joe Scarborough realizes Bush is toxic, we’ve come to a strange pass where McCain is within 30 points of Obama.
August 27th, 2008 at 11:14 amMaybe like in the old vaudeville days somebody back stage could use a huge cane and haul these two criminals off stage.
Will Bush and Cheney have to appear together? Like the fraudulant 9/11 Commission?
August 27th, 2008 at 11:14 amSAAAAAA-MAAAAACK DOWN!!!
Thank you, David Schuster!! ;o)
August 27th, 2008 at 11:14 amWhat’s the difference between Giuliani and McCain?
Rudy: Noun, Verb = 9/11
McCain: Noun, Verb = POW
Watching buildings or planes crash does NOT automatically qualify you to President of the United States of America.
August 27th, 2008 at 11:15 amAre the Rethugs putting chimpy on before or after Joe LIEberman?
August 27th, 2008 at 11:18 amAnd what does it say when a schmoe like Joe turns to the rock-bottom loser of the GOP primaries for national political ‘expertise’?
August 27th, 2008 at 11:19 amBush and Cheney have more war to make. They can’t be fussing around with a convention!
Want to be Bush calls Congress back early to work on energy? Harry Truman blistered the do nothing Republican Congress in 1948. Bush could do a repeat…
Of course, he’ll say something about finishing at a sprint, working hard on behalf of the country, and then fly back to Crawford for yet another vacation.
August 27th, 2008 at 11:20 amIt’s quite fitting to put GDumbya at the RNC podium on Labor Day. He is the poster boy for “labor”. After all, being the presi-dunce is “hard, hard work”. That’s what GDumbya said!
August 27th, 2008 at 11:24 amIf McFiveAndaHalfYears wasn’t so far behind on fundraising Chimpy and the Dick wouldn’t be anywhere near that convention. Gotta shake down a few more millionaire Texans. Justice would dictate that the two appear on stage at the same time cuffed together but I won’t get my hopes up.
August 27th, 2008 at 11:33 amShuster has been on fire this week but stupming Rudy is like taking candy from a baby. It’s almost as easy as stumping Grampy McSame.
August 27th, 2008 at 11:43 amNot by a long shot. Standing in shackles in the docket at the Hague; sitting on the lap of the petro-pharma-media-military complex; lying under a fetid dungheap of lies while the myriad dead of Iraq are rolled past – these are merely some of the images that only begin to describe the Bush/Cheney criminal enterprise.
August 27th, 2008 at 11:44 amI’m surprised they are even letting him in the state of Minnesota.
August 27th, 2008 at 11:44 amThey have to have in on SOMETIME. I mean really, he’s their platform. I guess they feel they’ll have some time to recover if he goes on first.
August 27th, 2008 at 11:49 amWouldn’t it be great if they had one of those trap door thingies and put it to good use?
August 27th, 2008 at 11:53 amWhere is Daryll, this thread is screaming his name!
Oh, my apologies, I thought the heading read, “Shuster Schtups Giuliani”
my bad
August 27th, 2008 at 11:54 amLet me guess, after getting over the initial stun of being stumped, Trudy responded back, “NINE ONE ONE! NINE ONE ONE!”
August 27th, 2008 at 11:55 amMy guess is they need to get him on stage before he goes on his next booze binge. And with all the corporate parties, he’ll be on a bender the rest of the week.
Then off to the Crawford Detox and Brush Clearing Center.
PEACE
August 27th, 2008 at 11:57 amAny respectable party would not allow Bush or Cheney to speak at all.
And, any self-respecting person would not speak at the Republican Convention.
They deserve each other. Maybe Bush will dance for them.
August 27th, 2008 at 11:58 amI’m surprised they are even letting him in the state of Minnesota.
We’re letting him in . . . but we’re not letting him out.
Watch for a citizen’s arrest.
August 27th, 2008 at 11:59 amWhat is this anyway? Just because Rudy says something that has nothing to do with 9-11 it is news? Rudy is just like that other Rudy guy who wasn’t good enough but they stuck him in a game anyway. I hope if they make a movie out of that one Oliver Stone directs it.
August 27th, 2008 at 11:59 amMake sure all re-pukes see those collapsed bridges on their way in and out of the twin cities so they can see what they haven`t done for this country since the SHRUB stole office, ask Michelle Bachman and gov. Pawlenty why this happened.
August 27th, 2008 at 12:00 pmHey too bad the convention wasn’t at Winona instead of the Twin Cities, they could have called it Grump old Men 3.
August 27th, 2008 at 12:02 pmWho’s going to introduce Bush? I think they should get Dante Culpepper.
August 27th, 2008 at 12:05 pmI won’t be watching either one of these speeches until after they add the laugh tracks.
August 27th, 2008 at 12:14 pmI wonder just how many viewers will tune in to this yuk fest? Personally, the fewer reminders I have of this administration, the better. I turn the radio in my car off if the newscaster even HINTS they are going to play a clip of Bush.
August 27th, 2008 at 12:28 pmWorst president in American history unless of course Mccain wins the Nov election ……. in that case there probably will not be a history .
August 27th, 2008 at 12:41 pmWWWIII brought to you by the PNAC with special thanx to randy scheuneman and the government of Georgia.
While Cindy is playing ‘Georgia On MY Mind’, McCain continues to try & find his…
August 27th, 2008 at 12:57 pmRudy. Bleh.
August 27th, 2008 at 1:26 pmRepublicans just need to STFU about the Democratic convention and focus on their own upcoming convention. It is a clear sign of desperation that they’re nitpicking the convention instead of talking about real issues. Truth is, the GOP has nothing to run on this year. No one wants four more years of Dubya – not even Republicans. They can’t gloat over their accomplishments (they don’t have any, at least ones that worked anyway). So I guess all they have left is bitter, sour grapes to chew on.
August 27th, 2008 at 2:12 pmThe GOP purposely put Bush and Cheney to speak the first night of the convention just to get them out of the way for the remainder of the event. They can’t stand the clown and money bags. RNC will be an interesting event now that 9 GOP Senators bailed from attending, Bush and Cheney speaking on the first night, and Cheney bailing from the remainder of the event to go to Georgia. And good for Shuster stumping Ginger, I mean Giuliani.
August 27th, 2008 at 2:51 pmBush & Cheney on Labor Day is like a major McCain policy/campaign shift on a Friday afternoon…hoping to get that “overlooked treatment” with the weekend bumper in-between to Monday.
If you want to be a serious GOP candidate, here are the two steps to follow:
1. Make good friends with the media, so they won’t question your policies or character…no matter how hackneyed, distasteful and disjointed they might be.
2. Say you hate dirty politics, how you’ve tried to reform Washington and do a complete 180 on those statements while pocketing lobbyist dollars like a thief in the night.
