Hagee Ministries: ‘No Comment’ on Tropical Storm Gustav

hagee.JPGEarlier today, ThinkProgress contacted John Hagee Ministries to see if erstwhile John McCain endorser Rev. Hagee saw the Lord’s hand in reports that President Bush might not speak at the Republican National Convention on Monday because of Tropical Storm Gustav.

Back in 2006, Hagee declared that “Hurricane Katrina was, in fact, the judgment of God against the city of New Orleans.” Hagee said that “New Orleans had a level of sin that was offensive to God,” because “there was to be a homosexual parade there on the Monday that the Katrina came.”

ThinkProgress asked Rev. Hagee’s spokesperson, Kara Silverman, whether Gustav’s possible impact on the Republican National Convention might be seen as punishment against Republicans for their not having done enough to combat the “homosexual agenda,” or whether this storm could be attributed to some other target of divine wrath.

Ms. Silverman said Hagee had “no comment.”

    .

    God’s wrath is upon the Republican’t Convention…
    … eh Daryll?

    .

  2. DwH says:

Jesus Christ, that man looks like the welcoming committee from the Land of Oz. What a nasty little piece of work. And all in God’s name? Nauseating.

  3. Max-1 says:

    .

Hagee has “no comment” on gay Republicons.

    .

  4. tom says:

Way to go TP! I love it that you called Hagee’s spokesbimbo for comment. Somebody needs to keep rubbing their nose in it.

I’m surprised that Kara didn’t have a snappy comeback for you. Perhaps she just hasn’t received the 2008 New Orleans homosexual parade calendar yet.

  5. LibertyLover says:

If Gustav comes roaring in like a lion. I think that it will be an outstanding reminder of the failures of the Bush administration during Katrina. Interesting timing, too, considering that the James Dobson group wanted people to pray for rain to flood out Obama’s rally tonight, eh?

  6. Max-1 says:

    .

    God works in mysterious ways…
… and has one he|| of a sense of humor.

Residents of N.O.L.A. move out NOW!!!

    .

  7. Zooey says:

    But but but…..God’s wrath…..’n shit….

  8. paleolib says:

Sounds like Hagee hasn’t had a chance to check the parade schedule in N’Orleans yet. Bigots as thick as that one usually don’t bother to clean up their act.

  9. ucsbclassics53 says:

Notice how they are trying to overcompensate for Hurricane Katrina by acting as if they care…

  10. Shayne says:

    Snort …

TP is giving The Daily Show a run for its money today.

  11. stateofthedivision says:

Dang, aren’t you guys in Denver? How about interviewing the lady assaulted with a police baton? Maybe, talk to the cop with McCain bumper stickers on his motorcycle…

Why hit the Rockies to call a fat gasbag from San Antonio?

  12. Doc Rock says:

Gustav is the judgment on the Red States of the Gulf.

  13. misshusseinmolly says:

Has Hagee ever come up with an explanation as to why hurricanes seem to hit the gulf coast and the southern Atlantic states more than the rest of the country? If there are significantly more gays there than anywhere else, this is news to me.

As far as Gustav goes, Hagee won’t claim any connection between it and the RNC unless it manages to make it all the way up to St. Paul.

  14. raynman says:

There are no homosexual Republicans, isn’t that Wright? Or am I just shooting my mouth off like a loose Gannon??

  15. stateofthedivision says:

Gustav is a meteorological event, one common this time of year. That means it got sent by the pagan wh*re, Mother Nature! Somebody call Jesus…

  16. Abu Ben Hussein Leporello says:

There is No end to the pompous, idiotic, hypocrisy from those who have God at their beck and call. Regrettably Hagee and his ilk are only too happy to prove me right. Pray to whatever God you wish (Ramen!), but never bank on His/Her/Its direct intervention. Faith shows us the way to go to heaven, not the way the heavens go.
Impeach Pelosi, Cheney and Bush and Save the Constitution!

  17. LibertyLover says:

    ooh, raynman —

…a loose gannon. Now, that’s NOT a pretty picture. :)

  18. Chuck Feney says:

Gustav is the answer to prayers of the RNC of how not to have Bush at the convention without telling directly to not show his face.

  19. Cappy says:

God wants to stop Bush from talking because Bush has been making God look bad.

  20. LibertyLover says:

Perhaps we should pray to the ancient Egyptian gods of the sun (RA) and wind (SET) to provide the solar and wind energy we need to get out of this oil energy mess?

  21. ThomasMc says:

The timing is almost enough to make one believe in God.

  22. Oval12345678 aka James K. Sayre says:

No comment? No comment? How about, “God protect New Orleans?” Oh, I forgot, this is a christo-fascist, not a true Christian, just another lying, smearing perverter (sic) of the faith…

  23. robbez_92107 says:

Does it strike anyone else as funny how a compassionate and quick response (much less, Presidential interest) to a NOLA hurricane is inversely proportional to the minority content of the citizens of such a region.

Was Kanye West right this whole time?

  24. Game of Life says:

    HAHAHAHA

    I bet they don’t have a comment.

What about that other repug “rev.” who wanted it to rain today on Sen. Obama’s acceptance speech.

    I guess God loves dems.

  25. Marie says:

I think we should all chip in and send a large cake to McCain & Company, and Bush so they can reenact their celebration of McCain’s birthday as it coincides with another Hurricane. They can invite Hagee to perform a benediction before they slice it.

  26. RantingTommy says:

The existence of Republicans is proof that there is no god.

  27. tokin librul says:

How’s a hurricane in the Gulf gonna affect the RNC in Minneapolis?

other than the unfortunate reminder of the catastrophic failure of the GOPuke regime to cope with the tragedy?

the farthest I ever remember a hurricane getting up the river was andrew in ‘91, which brought 110 mph winds to Baton Rouge, 90 miles from the coast (which took about 2/3 of the shingles off my roof…Minneapolis is, what, 10-12 times further up-river than that…

  28. RobertSeattle says:

Too Bad “Hurrivane George” wasn’t on the name list this year…

It hasn’t been retired some maybe someday…

    tokin librul:

Just imagine the split screen: RNC Convention on the left – people in goofy hats, etc. Hurricane on the right.

    Devastating.

Axshully, miss molly, there is a very large gay community in N’awlins, and in pretty nearly all the beach communities east of there, too…I call it “the coastal penumbra,” the shadow of anonymity cast upon coastal communities by the transience of the ocean and all the flotsam and jetsam that washes up…

  31. Roket says:

If these idiots don’t stop praying for rain, they’re going to drown us all.

only if you think the SCUM (SoCalledUnbiasedMedia) would actually do such a thing.

Remember, the conventions are “Corporate” events, bought an paid for–through the magic of interlocking directoates– by the very outfits who are covering them.

  33. Wayne says:

Ms. Silverman said Hagee had “no comment.”

He will only call it “God’s wrath” if some “non white” folk get killed this time. Since he really doesn’t talk to God, he has to comment after the event.

  34. DRxJ says:

Does this mean Gustav will be directly hitting Minneapolis?
What with the influx of closeted homosexuals gathering there this upcoming week and all.
(tap, tap, tap, Parodyll. Tap, tap, tap.)

  35. Wayne says:

    raynman Says:

Mel…man, such talk is just Foley.

  36. Xisithrus says:

    I Newt this would happen.

  37. Xisithrus says:

All these hurricanes and tropical storms are a Haggard to humanity.

Daryll probably won’t show again, until he thinks we forgot about his bald faced lie yesterday or he comes up with another excuse why a “holy person” such as himself was wrong again.

He has been cursing our good memories over the “President-elect Huckabee” gaff for a while now, lmao

  39. flex says:

ahh, the Fearful, Vengeful and Bigoted god of the extremists John Hagee’s and religious righters shows no mercey.
Hagee better start sacrificing some 12 year old virgins quick, before his god of ‘hate’ brings destruction to his lunatic Republican convention.

    Doc Rock Says:

I will have to agree with Doc…I think low IQs are also a judgment against Red States.

Hey Wayne, what did he lie about? I must have missed it.

  42. scytherius says:

I am ASTOUNDED that people believe in this BS and believe these ignorant fools. And they give them their money. Just wow

He was posting he had proof that Obama was a Muslim. He didn’t even read the link he posted before posting it, so he was ripped to pieces in the thread.

  44. nanlichi says:

Why is Hagee auctioning off that pretty black book? Are the Christians that open now that salvation is a commodity?

Wonder how much he got for it?

  45. Chuck Feney says:

I’d like Hagee to demonstrate his purity by locating his ministry in the midst of the Gulf Coast; and, let’s see if it stands untouched, surrounded by destruction, when the next big hurricane hits.

Heh. Figures. Why is it that these fools never read whatever it is that they supposedly are presenting as evidence?

  47. pete says:

Heh! They haven’t come up with a good reason why all the hurricanes keep hitting the Gulf oil industry either.

  48. osage says:

How deplorably pathetic is it that so-called Christians believe that this snake oil selling fraud speaks the words of god. Christians my arse!

  49. Uosdwis says:

If it hits New Orleans, it’s good for Hagee, I guess for the gay French Quarter, but not so much anymore for poor democratic voters who have left, but if it hits Texas, it’s bad, unless it somehow makes it to Austin only, as that’s a democratic stronghold. So he has to wait and see.

  50. ForTruth says:

Maybe the hurricane coverage will infringe upon the media coverage of the Repuke convention? It’ll be more interesting or something. Did someone already point that out?
