Rove ’speaks regularly with the McCain campaign’ and ‘lunches two or three times a month’ with Bush.

Despite the fact that he talks “fairly regularly” with top advisers to Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), former Bush political guru insists on denying that he is an informal adviser to McCain’s campaign. But in a new article, Time magazine highlights how “dialed in” Rove is with McCain’s campaign efforts:

In private, Rove speaks regularly with the McCain campaign, where his former protégé Steve Schmidt is now the manager. He’s also dialed in at the Republican National Committee, run by Mike Duncan, another former aide. And he still lunches two or three times a month with President Bush.

As ThinkProgress has previously noted, one reason Rove may be reluctant to admit his ties to the McCain campaign is the fact that he is also reported to be “developing outside groups” to help Republicans and John McCain in November. It is illegal for outside groups to coordinate with campaigns.

UpdateAnd as this morning's Politico piece demonstrates, Rove is heavily involved in McCain's vice presidential selection.

I hope Rove has to pay for his own 2-piece KFC meal. Or is he still feeding at the taxpayer trough?

  5. Badmoodman Says:

Rove is pushing for McCain for one simple reason; a McCain victory could only make his boy Bush look not quite as incompetent and warmongering.

  6. Oval12345678 aka James K. Sayre Says:

Did Rove help promote the Georgian genocide against the South Ossetians in early August 2008? Funny, American military forces were in Georgia helping to train the Georgian soldiers. For what? Nobody was threatening Georgia...

Today Putin suggested that the Georgian attack was possibly an election ploy by the Bush regime to help a certain candidate. See RussiaToday web site for more details: http://www.russiatoday.com.

ROVE is still MIA from the subpoena of the House Judiciary Committee.

  20. texaslady Says:

Since when is doing something illegal a problem for rover? Only if he gets caught and we all know the rules aren't for him.

  21. tom Says:

I am glad to know that RoverBoy lunches with GDumbya and meets with his own former aides and McNumbNuts' staffers.

It is good that these rats are so chummy with each other. That way, they will have company when they all go down with the ship this November.

  22. ucsbclassics53 Says:

Yeah there's so much difference between McCAIN and Bush...

  23. Marie Says:

    OT from HuffPO
I guess these family members won't be on the MCCain acceptance stage!
Cindy McCain's half-sister tells Us Magazine that she won't help put her famous sibling in the White House:

"I'm not voting for McCain," Kathleen Hensley Portalski tells Us. "I have a different political standpoint.

"I'm voting for Obama," the Phoenix resident says. "I think his proposals to improve the country are more positive and I'm not a big war believer."

    ...

Portalski's son Nathan, an aerospace machinist, is also backing Obama.

"I wouldn't vote for John McCain if he was a Democrat," he tells Us. "I would not vote at all before I'd vote for him.

"I question whether Cindy is someone I'd want to see in the White House as first lady," he adds.

  24. CitiDC Says:

Hear it from Turdblossom's mouth himself (about frequent calls and regular lunches with Bush):

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZuvXnppA6o

It is an interview on Swedish TV (from July when he was hiding from a Judiciary Commuttee subpoena).

A rare on-record admission, of anything!

Just say you don't agree with what they are doing and you are in the clear.

BTW TP where is your proof of any illegality?

  26. Doc Rock Says:

Jail him and Mukasey with him.

  27. texaslady Says:

Tracy-5 anything out of turd's mouth is a lie, this piece of garbage doesn't know how to be truthful. This a.m. he was mocking Obama's bi-partisan effort to remedy Walter Reed Hospital deplorable condition after it was exposed. Mocking that it wasn't Obama that exposed the situation. Well we all know that, and it sure wasn't bush's inplace privatizing.
Another base in Oklahoma just popped up, didn't hear that from your administration either did we ?
How about educating yourself with the truth instead of listening to rush all day.

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Can you READ? BTW where is TP accusing Rove of breaking the law? They said that he is reportedly developing outside groups. They said that might be why he would be reluctant to admit ties to the campaign. I didnt see any claim of illegality. Only that IF he were developing such groups ties WOULD be illegal to CO-ORDINATE with the campaign.

Rove is heavily involved in McCain's vice presidential selection.

And Rove helped Smirky the Chimp to make sooo many "great" choices.

As a direct result, Smirky the Chimp is very popular -- with the low information voters.

Everyone else knows KKKarl jumped the shark back in 2006.

Yeah John, just keep on listening to KKKarl. See what that gets you.

  33. MapleStreet Says:

From an earlier article, Rove appears connected to the vetting of the Veep for McCain.

Rove talks to McCain regularly and has lunch with Dubya.

    String of Dumb Questions:
So how is McCain different than Bush ?
So how is Rove an "independent journalist" with Faux ?
So how can he be an outside independent ?

Michele Obama is more independent of the Obama campaign than Rove is of McCain.

  34. Cal Malenky Says:

Karl catapults the propaganda nearly every day on the GOP network, AKA Fox, and his bots like Steve Schmidt continue the slime for McCain. He's more effective for the GOP at Fox than he would be in the waning days of the Bush disaster. What a sweet deal for Bush/McCain.

  35. Tracy__5 Says:

"BTW where is TP accusing Rove of breaking the law?"

    The implied allegation is there.

  36. jb Says:

Rove's regularity is not a subject I want to contemplate. If I or any other regular citizen ignored congressional subpoenas and made our living destroying people with lies and innuendo, we'd be taking our craps in a jail cell.

  37. jb Says:

McCain is more than willing to lap up Rove's regularity. Anything to further the cause of the already obscenely rich.

  38. EugeneDebs Says:

    Tracy__5 Says:

“BTW where is TP accusing Rove of breaking the law?”

    The implied allegation is there.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Implied allegation? You asked what their PROOF of illegality was. That is only appropriate for an ACCUSATION. They pointed out what IS illegal and that something has been reported that IF true would be a reason he didnt want looked into. They dont need PROOF of illegality for that ONLY If they made an accusation which they did NOT do. It isnt illegal for him to have contacts only to CO-ORDINATE. They never claimed he did that. Your call for a proof of illegality was a non-sequitur to anyone with actual reading comprehension

    ha ha

Since WHEN has a Bush advisor who is under a contempt of Congress citation, who has broken MANY laws, including mixing politics with governing on government property among many others, and erasing government emails, since WHEN would the Turd Blossom worry or care about doing something illegal?

If President Obama doesn't investigate, indict, prosecute and convict Karl Rove, just for starters, I won't be voting for him in 2012. I guarantee it.
