During a Newsweek Women & Leadership Event in Los Angeles last March, Sarah Palin said this about Hillary Clinton:
I say this with all due respect to Hillary Clinton…but when I hear a statement like that coming from a woman candidate with any kind of perceived whine about that excess criticism or you know maybe a sharper microscope put on her, I think you know that doesn’t do us any good – women in politics, women in general wanting to progress this country.
Watch it:
Newsweek writes that Palin “felt kind of bad she couldn’t support a woman, but she didn’t like Clinton’s ‘whining.’” More from Greg Sargent.

This is grand!! You’re on a roll TP, keep rolling this out!!
August 29th, 2008 at 3:43 pmI think you know that doesn’t do us any good – women in politics, women in general wanting to progress this country.
And a science and abortion rights denier furthers the cause for women in US politics , you mindless boob ?
August 29th, 2008 at 3:43 pmGod what an insane pick. Ya know Armageddon is close when you miss the days of Nixon/Agnew
August 29th, 2008 at 3:46 pmWell that ought to win over those disaffected PUMAs who thought Hillary was unfairly criticized!
So McStain’s economic advisor called us a nation of whiners, and now his VP pick called Hillary, personally, a whiner.
BTW, take a look at the front page story on huffingtonpost.com for some lovely pics of Palin as Miss Wassila.
Fun times, fun times…
PEACE
August 29th, 2008 at 3:49 pmCome on hillary supporters! Palin is clearly on your side!
/end sarcasm
August 29th, 2008 at 3:51 pmI bet the PUMA’s are creaming their collective jeans now. We will see such a crossover, for sure!
Heh Heh
August 29th, 2008 at 3:55 pmI’m just curious… did anyone on Team McStain do any vetting?
And if so, did they understand that their mission was to find the best person, not the worst?
I’m not complaining (or whining) just asking!
PEACE
August 29th, 2008 at 3:55 pmShe also lied about the bridge to nowhere:
http://blogs.tnr.com/ tnr/ blogs/ the_plank/ archive/ 2008/ 08/ 29/ did-palin-really-fight-the-bridge-to-nowhere.aspx
She rejected it only because Congress wouldn’t pay for more of it.
August 29th, 2008 at 3:57 pmI sure wish the GOP would stop whining about the Clintons.

August 29th, 2008 at 3:59 pmIn a wierd sort of way, this reminds me of Cheney picking the most unqualified person he could find to be Veep…
August 29th, 2008 at 4:04 pmIf McCain’s only criteria was to choose a female, and it appears as though this was his only goal, he could have done much better by asking Hilary to be his running mate.
Then, should the reigns be passed to the V.P. it would have been a step up, not a step off a cliff as it will be with Palin.
John McCain has lost all credibility! There can be no argument with this.
McCain should have chosen Hilary - not Palin. Hilary is “EXACTLY” who he needs.

August 29th, 2008 at 4:06 pmDidn’t Sarah Palin used to be Cindy Williams from ‘Laverne and Shirley’!

How come republicans never make fun of the the pantsuits of republican woman?
August 29th, 2008 at 4:09 pmI’m just curious… did anyone on Team McStain do any vetting?
“Vetting? Vetting is for pussies” — John McCain 2008
Uh, Johnny Boy. You might want to rephrase that.
How about “vetting is for trollopy c*unts”?
August 29th, 2008 at 4:16 pmBunny2 = arsehole.
Flag, ignore, move on.
August 29th, 2008 at 4:18 pmThe modern reich-wing party, the men wear diapers and the women wear a dish apron.
August 29th, 2008 at 4:19 pmLizzy Dole has some real horror shows in her closets as well
August 29th, 2008 at 4:19 pmAnd while Gov. Palin is busy inserting both feet in her mouth, Limpballs, Insanity, Newtie Gingrich, et. al., are working overtime today trying to put lipstick on this pig.
Sorry, boys. She is a woman. She already wears lipstick. It hasn’t done any good yet. What makes you think you can change that?
August 29th, 2008 at 4:19 pmWE’LL SEE WHO IS WHINING AFTER BIDEN IS FINISHED SKINNING YOU ALIVE.
HE’S SHARPENING HIS TEETH RIGHT NOW……YOU’RE GOING TO KNOW FIRST HAND WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE TO BE A WOLF SHOT FROM ABOVE

This statement pretty much sums up the progressive movement today: You do all the work while I sit back and do nothing but jump on the bandwagon and complain when it fails.
What the heck does this even mean?

It’s not the pants! It’s the suits.
Wow. L-A-M-E…
August 29th, 2008 at 4:21 pmNow, Obama needs to come out with an ad which:
1. Starts with the whining charge against Clinton
2. Goes to statements about no abortion except for the life of the mother.
3. Condescension of McCain providing a woman candidate with no experience and right wing ideology simply on the basis that this would induce Hillary die hards to vote for McCain.
August 29th, 2008 at 4:24 pmBunny2
Sentimos que no entiendo.
As well, I bet you don’t understand your own postings. Go babble elsewhere.
August 29th, 2008 at 4:56 pmAnd creationist, pro-lifer, global warming denier Palin thinks she is profressive for women? Try “regressive”.
August 29th, 2008 at 5:00 pm.
Palin whines about perceived whiners…
.
August 29th, 2008 at 5:13 pmHillary needs advice from this hick who doesn’t even know what a vice president does and thinks her work in Alaska is more involved. I guess McCain couldn’t pick anybody who ran against him because he’s not man enough to put that behind him. And he can’t pick anybody smarter than him which is just about everybody but W. So he found the dumbest governor in the country and picked her.
August 29th, 2008 at 5:27 pmOh boy. This woman is one good advertisement after another. This is going to be fun folks.
August 29th, 2008 at 5:40 pmSo the McCainiacs won’t complain when Biden takes her apart in the VP debates.
August 29th, 2008 at 5:50 pm#Bunny2 Says:
Hillary has more of a shrill, not a whine. Get it right would you.
And Palin is a squeek. God, I can’t stand listening to her voice.

August 29th, 2008 at 6:15 pmWow, she’s a treat.
August 29th, 2008 at 6:25 pmIf this election about judgment, the choice of Sarah Pahin shows poor judgment on McCain’s part.
August 29th, 2008 at 9:51 pmAny intelligent person knows when you choose to have a baby at 43 you have a very high probability of having a child with Downs Syndrome. She used poor judgment not using birth control. Would she use better judgment dealing with our economy? Would she use better judgment dealing with our enemies?
I for one am not willing to take a chance.

There are two segments of Hillary supporters that will not feel wupported by by Palin. First, lesbian women. Second, women who staunchly approve of abortion.
The remaining moderate Hillary supporters, many of whom are mothers on the fence about abortion, will find a common thread with Palin. The core of this nation’s mothers will identify with Palin before Biden or Obama.
Good luck Obama. McCain just shut down your attack dog Biden. Do you think America’s mothers will stand by and let your attack dog Biden smear Palin?
Love the pick. Chalk one up for women :-)
August 29th, 2008 at 11:21 pmRepug guru, KKK Rove said this about Tim Kaine as possible Dem. Veep
August 30th, 2008 at 1:13 amWith all due respect again to Governor Kaine, he’s been a governor for three years, he’s been able but undistinguished. I don’t think people could really name a big, important thing that he’s done. He was mayor of the 105th largest city in America. And again, with all due respect to Richmond, Virginia, it’s smaller than Chula Vista, California; Aurora, Colorado; Mesa or Gilbert, Arizona; north Las Vegas or Henderson, Nevada. It’s not a big town.
So if he were to pick Governor Kaine, it would be an intensely political choice where he said, `You know what? I’m really not, first and foremost, concerned with, is this person capable of being president of the United States?
Yes, lesbian women will vote for a governor who believes that gays and lesbians should not have health benefits. Yeah that makes a lot of sense, Tim.
You guys on the right are so hypocritical it’s unbelievable. You engaged in sexist attacks against Senator Clinton but now you have the gall to claim that any attack on Palin for her record is sexism?
August 30th, 2008 at 2:30 pmPalin said she’s not out to judge anyone and has good friends who are gay, but that she supported the 1998 constitutional amendment.
Elected officials can’t defy the court when it comes to how rights are applied, she said, but she would support a ballot question that would deny benefits to homosexual couples.
“I believe that honoring the family structure is that important,” Palin said.
August 30th, 2008 at 2:31 pmPalin: “women in general wanting to progress this country”
Can “progress” be used as an active verb? I felt the same way when ads started telling me how to to “grow” my business.
