Palin denies global warming is manmade.

In an interview released today by Newsmax, Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) — Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) newly minted running mate — was asked for her “take on global warming and how is it affecting our country.” “A changing environment will affect Alaska more than any other state, because of our location,” Palin said, adding, “I’m not one though who would attribute it to being man-made.” DeSmogBlog notes that NASA and the National Academy of Sciences disagree:

The first greenhouse gas demonstrated to be increasing in atmospheric concentration was carbon dioxide, formed as a major end product in the extraction of energy from the burning of the fossil fuels–coal, oil, and natural gas–as well as in the burning of biomass.

Digg It!

UpdateDan Weiss and James Kvaal note that Palin is a "champion for Big Oil." They write, "She supports more drilling in protected areas of the Outer Continental Shelf and the Alaska Natural Wildlife Refuge, once attacking McCain for his 'close-mindedness on ANWR.'"

    Palin is an oil-bimbo.

Of course, she supports "drill here, drill now, drill everywhere". How else is she going to continue sending out the $1,200 per head bribery checks to all Alaskans after she returns to her governorship after the shellacing she and McNumbNuts suffer on November 4?

  3. hussein toasterhead Says:

No surprise here - a science denier who doesn't believe in evolution can hardly be expected to believe in environmental stewardship.

  4. tom Says:

By the way, I'm glad to see that she is already giving interviews. Her non-existent record is a blank slate right now. She needs a week or two of media exposure to stick her foot in her mouth.

Oh, No. 1 commenter, you beat me to the punch. Sarah Palin is very cute, but she is not very experienced in foreign affairs, to say the least. McCain is way too experienced in war-mongering and war-crimes: Vietnam (bombing Vietnamese civilians: a war crime), Afghanistan: US continuing imperial occupation is a series of war crimes, Pakistan: more bombing of civilians: these people are no threat to anyone who lives outside of Pakistan, his infamous bomb, bomb, bomb Iran (advocating mass murder of Iranians) and encouraging the little Stalin: Saakashvili to slaughter South Ossetians and Russian peacekeepers.

    ____________________________________________________

No comparison. Obama has suggested limited drilling under a multitude of special conditions as part of a much larger comprehensive energy program. His position is nothing like the "drill, drill, drill" mantra of the big oil sycophants.

As far as capital punishment for rape, Obama has hardly mandated such a thing. He supports the right of states to decide the matter in extreme cases, and only when the rape victim is a small child -- a position I personally disagree with (since I am against capital punishment on general principle). However, this issue isn't sufficient for me to vote against him.

And "pro-religion"??? Are you kidding me? What's the opposite position -- "anti-religion"??? Obama is a Christian and his faith is an important part of his life. However, he has no desire to impose his religion on everyone else. I can respect that. Do YOU have a problem with that?

  56. CitizenE Says:

Just like the Bush administration in their years' long obstacle setting, obfuscating censorship of governmental science findings that human activity was indeed the trigger for global climate change and needed to be addressed, Sarah Palin thinks this is an issue of "belief." She has shown in the case of her advocacy of teaching Intelligent Design in science classrooms which a recent case in relation to the Dover, PA school board was adjudicated by a conservative judge and found in clear violation of church and state, that Governor Palin has a myopic blurring of the difference between faith and science, church and state, which is not only unconstitutional but in the 21st century irresponsible to the long term financial, intellectual, and cultural standing of our nation in the world. Such a confusion about the nature of scientific inquiry would not be acceptable in any of our European allies or emerging rivals Russia and China. This tunnel vision is more emblematic of nations that have fundamentalist religious laws written into their constitutions.

  61. BowsAndArrows Says:

If you actually did an ounce of research yourself you'd know that CO2 does not cause rises in the earth's climate.

There is a direct correlation between CO2 and temperature. But if you look at any graph (for instance Al Gore's Inconvenient Truth graph) you can see that temperature rises and CO2 FOLLOWS by a few hundred years. Meaning that temperature rises and CO2 rises as a result a few hundred years later, and not the other way around as you have been led to believe.

Where the correlation is exact is in sun activity. As sun activity increases the temperature follows EXACTLY. So, increased sun activity causes climate increase which causes CO2 to rise.

There have been times throughout the Earth's history when CO2 has been 10X as high as it is now, and the earth has survived; even the polar bears have survived.

The notion that global warming is manmade is absolutely ridiculous. Do your research.
