Keltoi at Night Says:

“I was just thinking, this Gustav is proof that there is a God in heaven,” Moore said, laughing. “To have it planned at the same time – that it would actually be on its way to New Orleans for day one of the Republican Convention, up in the Twin Cities – at the top of the Mississippi River.”

I am sorry to keep posting this, but the quote belongs on every thread TP chooses to make into a Gustav vs RNC convention fest.
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<

Why? It is a jerky insensative thing to say and so what? Does he speak for Obama? The DNC? Democrats in general? No he is just a private citizen who can say what he wants. It reflects only on him so WHY does it belong on every thread?

I only hope the Republicans find it in themselves to help this time around; I don't care about the timing, I don't care if it is grandstanding...the president and the democrats also better be there. The Navy should be mobilized now to enter the region immediately after landfall, and the federal government should be preparing to take all the resources they need to provide safety to our gulf coast residents. The state of emergency has already begun and taking the lessons learned from a few years is a good time to show that politics doesn't always have to be theater.

All this hot air from Keito about Moore, who by the way explained it later in a letter.
And NO outragae about McCain turning a natural disaster into a ghoulish photo-op.
This is not about Micheal Moore, so knock it off. Your phoney selective outrage is ridiculous.

TP, I recommend going back and reviewing how the White House responded to criticism that the new levee system being built wouldn't even withstand another Katrina (Cat-4 or above) storm.

They cited Katrina as an "anomaly", a "once in a century storm", citing the unlikelihood of another storm of such strength hitting New Orleans before they have a chance to make it stronger.

I'd also recommend going back to Drudge last year, who proclaimed on his website last Summer that the uneventful storm season of the past two years was "proof" Global Warming wasn't real.

McCain and Palin going to the Mississippi Gulf Coast today. WTF? Do they expect huge crowds of people waving signs and cheering for them?

Nah, they just want to look Presidential. If OB had done this, they would have called it presumptuous. How dare he go down there - who does he think he is?

I hope that everyone in NO and the surrounding region is safe or that Gustav misses.

As a survivor of Hurricane Charlie on Friday the 13th 2004 I can be called a Hurricane expert. This Gustav is no joke and is one huge storm and local residents need to get the hell out of it's way. Here in Charlotte County Florida Charlie wasn't supposed to hit us, it made an unwxpected turn through Boca Grande Pass and we had no chance to leave, just lay low and hope for the best. The only good thing about Charlie was the spped it was moving, approximately 20mph, with winds over 140 mph and gusts over 170 if it was moving slowly the damage would have been much worse than it was and the damage was devestating.

McCain and Palin going to the Mississippi Gulf Coast today. WTF? Do they expect huge crowds of people waving signs and cheering for them? Residents don't have time for that BS as they are packing their cars and vans trying to figure out where they are going to seek shelter and doing what they can to protect their property. Local law enforcement doesn't need the distraction as they are directing traffic and preparing for landfall. Are McCain/Palin going for a photo op by standing in the surf on Biloxi beach wearing slicker suits like the weather channel people? They just need to stay out of the way. Barbour is probably hoping that Mississippi takes a dirct hit so he and his pals can make another fortune off of no bid contracts.

Update "A senior McCain source tells CNN they are considering turning the convention into a service event — a massive telethon to raise money for the Red Cross and other agencies to help with the hurricane."

Update John McCain and Sarah Palin are traveling to Mississippi on Sunday, at the invitation of Gov. Haley Barbour (R), "to check on people getting prepared for Hurricane Gustav."

Anything for better poll numbers and viewership.

Keltoi,

Are you really laughing at me, and encouraging others to laugh

Really?

Do you not know what we are facing?

No, man, it is Micheal Moore that is laughing at you. That quote is from the KO show. I am utterly pissed off that anyone, ANYONE, would be happy that a huge storm should hit the Big Easy, again.

But that is exactly what Moore was doing on Olberman.

Get safe if you aren't already.

Get safe if you aren’t already.

Keltoi,

Are you really laughing at me, and encouraging others to laugh

Really?

Do you not know what we are facing?

“I was just thinking, this Gustav is proof that there is a God in heaven,” Moore said, laughing. “To have it planned at the same time – that it would actually be on its way to New Orleans for day one of the Republican Convention, up in the Twin Cities – at the top of the Mississippi River.”

I am sorry to keep posting this, but the quote belongs on every thread TP chooses to make into a Gustav vs RNC convention fest.

The comments here have been overwhelmingly decent. Good for the people who come here.

If Gustav were happening at any other time, would there be such posts? How many threads did Fay get, or are Hannah getting?

And yet...how many "far left loons" (shout out to you, Bilbo) are quietly rejoicing at this turn of events? Or in the case of Moore and Olberman, yukking it up on national TV?

Is it any wonder people believe the Dems root for bad news in Iraq, bad news for the economy, bad polls for the US in Europe?

In other words, either cut it out, Faiz, or throw in with that tub of lard Moore and laugh with glee at the misfortune of the people in the path of this natural disaster.

John McCain and Sarah Palin are traveling to Mississippi on Sunday, at the invitation of Gov. Haley Barbour (R), "to check on people getting prepared for Hurricane Gustav."

Neither John McCain and Sarah Pallin nor lobbyist Governor Haley Barbour need check on me. They have no idea what REALITY even is. Bush's Homeland Security under Chertoff cannot even provide a bag of ice after a storm anymore. STAY AWAY FROM US... and Barbour diverting money left and right from Katrina funds instead of that funding going to individual housing. OH YES - Politics and those in power can do what they want it seems....................

Thank you, jane and shayne and everyone.

We have seen the best response from the local and state government - people are being evacuated at a remarkable rate and this is such a difference from Katrina.

Time for me to try to sleep - I cannot thank TP enough (and all of you) for your good thoughts. It will be what it will be and we will remove ourselves from harm's way as soon as we possibly can, but still...

I am trying not to break down.

I stayed through Katrina and I don't know that I still have the reserves to get through Gustav

I don't know if I am that strong...
