I really enjoyed the exchanges between barfly and the troll.

Having said that one of the overwhelming parts of the thread was the response to Katrina. It should be noted that in 2004 there was an overwhelming response ot Florida’s major hurricane damage by FEMA. I’m sure that had nothing to do with 2004 being an election year and Florida being a swing state.

Why on earth would John McCain give a speech from NOLA?

First of all he is not the president. Second of all he represents the party that disowned NOLA.

The only reason for his grand-standing is that it will keep him from speaking before an empty venue.

McCain doing this makes sense to me. First he is showing Palin there really is a lower 48, after all she is not “well traveled”.

Then there is the “on the job training”. Palin needs, as a GOP player, to know how to look concerned while exploiting the hell out of a disaster.
