During a Politico panel discussion today on “Women and the Republican Party,” Matthew Yglesias noted that the panelists were ignoring this weekend’s revelations that Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) — among other things — campaigned for the Bridge to Nowhere and led Sen. Ted Stevens’s 527. Panelist Mike Murphey responded by dismissing Palin’s record and baselessly claiming that the “liberal blog world” was responsible for the rumors surrounding Bristol Palin’s pregnancy. Watch it:
In fact, the Anchorage Daily News reported that the rumors were “long simmering” in Alaska’s political discourse. Yglesias has more on the Politico event.
And of course, everyone's keying on the pregnancy as the reason why people are horrified by the choice of Palin as a VP Candidate... and conveniently ignoring the continuing and growing mound of evidence that shows that not only is Palin underqualified, she's corrupt and a syncophantic toady.
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:33 pmWhah! Whah! Whah! She wrestling with the big folks now. She'd better get used to it. This ain't Mooseanus Alaska honey.

“Murphy blames ‘liberal blog world’ for pregnancy.”
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:33 pmwell, i was paying attention to it, reading from several blogs' stories and comments... there were many references to the redstate crowd delving into it also...
i still think the latest is not the end of the story... too many loose ends and unexplained "phenomena"...
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:34 pmbesides Murphy having have a baby at age 17 is just another pesky task from God.
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:35 pmIf Republican's don't want to be bothered by sex scandals then they should stop telling everyone who they can have sex with. Attempting to impeach a popular president for having sex didn't help either.

September 2nd, 2008 at 4:39 pmMurphy is definitely pitching the McCain line:
John McCain: Americans Are Tired Of The Blogosphere
Despite admitting that he doesn't use the Internet, McCain asserts that Americans are tired of it. It's just another convenient scapegoat for his falure to understand contemporary culture and for his failing campaign.
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:40 pmMurphy Bristol same same. :)
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:40 pmIf the responsibility for the pregnancy rumors rests with the "liberal blog world", then that means that one or more bloggers just made up the story (if the rumors are false), or caused Bristol Palin's pregnancy (if the rumors are true).
It seems now that the rumors are true, to some degree, in that Bristol Palin is actually pregnant (at least that's what the current "official" story is). Unless the liberal blogosphere conspired to get this girl pregnant, it sounds like whatever rumors surround her began with people who knew her and the truth, or some incredibly lucky guessers.
I'm assuming that nobody here impregnated her...
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:41 pmJohn McCain: Americans Are Tired Of The Blogosphere
Except Malkin, Instaputz, jawanerds,...
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:41 pmThose "rumors" got Palin's daughter pregnant alright, because they were left alone with her in the motel room after prom. Just like tomorrow those "libelous rants" will be the reason for Palin's next personal/political fu(k up that wasn't properly vetted by the McCain camp.

McIIIrd Was A P.O.W.!!! Dammit!
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:42 pmBtw, if you haven't read up on the charming hubby-to-be Levi, enjoy:
On his MySpace page, Johnston proudly declares: "I'm a f---in' redneck."
"I live to play hockey. I like to go camping and hang out with the boys, do some fishing," he says on the site. He also warns that if anyone messes with him, "I'll kick ass."
The Web site, before it was removed, appeared not to have been accessed for a year. On it, he admits to having a girlfriend. On the part where it asks about children, he wrote, "I don't want kids."
Mark Okeson, the assistant principal at Wasilla High School, told the Chicago Tribune that Bristol started her junior year last fall, in the town where Sarah Palin grew up. He said Bristol inexplicably transferred to an Anchorage high school midyear, leaving Levi behind.
"I never heard the story why," he said.
Oh, and at Sarah's own blog, some comedy GOLD: http://sarahpalin.typepad.com/
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:43 pmMissHMolly,
No comment.. ..heh.
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:43 pmIf the story is true and the Baby Daddy really is Levi, then at least the Palin gene pool is intact. Nothing like two Redneck lowlifes keeping the dream of doublewides and pro wrestling alive!
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:43 pmAll they need to do is SHOW THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE, Mikey.
The TRUTH is all we seek.
Of course the TRUTH is the ENEMY of Bush, Cheney, McSeniLunatic and now Palin...
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:44 pmThe pregnancy stuff is a nonstory that does nothing worse than make Palin look like a refugee from some bizarre crossover reunion of Northern Exposure mixed in with The Beverly Hillbillys. The fact that she is up to her neck in scandal, pork and has an endorsement from the only member of the U.S. Senate currently under indictment paired with the fact that the best the wingnut talking heads can do is claim her state's proximity to Russia and command of the Alaskan National Guard makes her a foreign affairs expert provides the ammunition you need to prove McCain can't be trusted to make a competent decision.

John McCain: Americans Are Tired Of The Blogosphere
___________________________________________________________
I checked your link, and apparently John McCain said "Americans are tired of the sound bite, the back and forth, the cable monsters, the, you know, the continuous, and the blogosphere."
Which is, of course, total gibberish. But it seems to be contagious, because Murphy is pitching the same.
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:45 pmI hear Palin will let her daughter do anything she wants in Juneau, just as long as she doesn't buy nor rent Juno.
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:47 pm"...the 'Liberal blog world' was responsible for the rumors surrounding Bristol Palin’s pregnancy."
If that were the case that the TWO (or is it three?) Palin pregnancies were just rumors they could have been immediately proven by one Birth Certificate and one pregnant teenager. If they are not rumors then the "Libreral Bloggers" have done exactly as "Liberal Bloggers" were created to do: Publish the truth! The bloggers did not claim that the alleged facts they repeated were any thing more than the alleged facts produced by Palin herself. If Palin does not like the conclusions drawn from those facts by the bloggers it is her responsibility to prove the bloggers guilty of spreading "rumors." As they say in the real world: "Put up or shut up, Baby!"
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:50 pmRepublican subterfuge or the Karl Rove machine in action.
All day long I keep hearing about the liberal, Democrat attacks on Bristol Palin.
It's a family matter, etc.
Try doing a google search on Bristol Palin attack.
What you get are a LOT of Republicans talking about the vicious attack on Bristol.
What you don't get are any actual attacks.
The few articles that do come up simply mention the fact that she is pregnant. That's an attack?
I don't think so.

All the news about the Amy Goodman of Democracy Now! arrest, and whacked out arrests happening around the RNC is on TheZoo.
Check it out!
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:53 pmThe Palin youngster we will soon find out may be preggy by immaculate conception? Would make as much sense as anything else announced by the GOP.
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:54 pmThe GOP is probably thanking their lucky stars that Bristol is pregnant because it sets up a perfect strawman for them, as Mike Murphy just beautifully demonstrated.
There are a lot of legitimate questions to be asked of and about Palin. Her relationship with Stevens, Troopergate, earmarks, her AIP membership, her support for the Bridge to Nowhere, etc. etc. Yet all her supporters have to do is hold up the Bristol pregnancy story and bemoan oh-gawd-ain't-it-awful that the mean liberals just won't leave this girl alone.
I'm ready to leave Bristol alone. SHE'S not running for Vice President, and it sounds like she has enough problems without being under the national microscope. But if I leave Bristol alone, with the GOP talking heads do the same? And focus on the valid questions we have about this candidate?
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:54 pmIf it weren't for those 'nasty rumors', they would not have announced that the daughter is pregnant. At least that's what they said.
The children should be off limits, even the ones that are having sex, but that doesn't mean the issue of teen pregnancy is now off limits. It would still be 'proper' to ask about her stance on sex education.
So, Ms. Putin, how would you assess 'abstinence only' programs?
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:58 pmI didn't hear any of them condemning the rumors and smears about the Obamas that were spreading like wildfire across the right-wing blogosphere. Payback's a b*tch.
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:58 pmIs it really that hard to believe that a 44 year-old woman would have a baby with Downs Syndrome???
September 2nd, 2008 at 4:59 pmObama and Biden have to leave her alone, and they will because it is the right thing to do. However, WE, as liberal bloggers don't, and won't. Now who is whining?

The Rove/Bush era all but thrived on it. I guess it's beneath them only when they are not the ones slinging the mud.

Not at all. However, YOUNG women can ALSO have Down's Syndrome babies.
Considering all the OTHER THINGS she has been doing, I wouldn't put it past this "christian" to LIE.
There is only ONE WAY to clear this up:
RELEASE THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE.
September 2nd, 2008 at 5:05 pmHow does an immoral household like the Clinton's, produce such a virtuous daughter in Chelsea, and a church nazi's household like Palin's produce an unwed mother. The hypocrisies are endless.

Just mentioning Bristol Palin's name is an attack as far as the right is concerned. It doesn't matter that it was her mother who threw her to the wolves. If Bristol Palin truly is pregnant then Sarah Palin should have turned down the offer and stayed home to take care of her special-needs baby and her pregnant teenager. She had to know that she would be subjecting her children to scrutiny, especially with all the skeletons in her closet.

September 2nd, 2008 at 4:59 pm
Not at all, Ike. What's truly amazing is that a 44 year old woman, who has given birth 4 times before, and who professes to know she's carrying a DS child, would make even the slightest delay in getting medical care once her water has broken.
She left herself vulnerable to infection from the moment her water broke. Labor tends to progress more quickly with each childbirth.
There is a 50% chance in DS children of having a heart defect.
She passed up hospital after hospital with appropriate medical facilities, to travel 10 hours to her podunk hometown hospital.
Sarah Palin has shown an astounding level of poor judgment around the birth of her child.
Then there are her ethics problems.
McCain shot himself in the nads on this one.

That won't necessarily solve the problem. Considering all the other coverup things she has done, I wouldn't put it past her to falsify the birth certificate (with the help of her very complacent physician). Odd thing about that particular physician, she no longer has privileges at the hospital where Trig was born, even though she was previously the medical director of the hospital.

September 2nd, 2008 at 5:16 pmTurn the bold off chief, I'll be more prone to reading in regular text. I will admit, we all love a good conspiracy, but this baby being Sarah Palin's isn't that far fetched. It isn't inconceivable that it is her daughters either, but perfectly reasonable to believe it is Sarah's baby.
By the way, you guys know that blog linked earlier as Sarah's personal blog isn't really hers, right?
September 2nd, 2008 at 5:16 pmBTW.. I'll absolutely agree that this woman is completely irresponsible. She has an infant child with Downs and is now running for VP... Maybe she should, I don't know, take care of her child? This is definitely just the tip of her problems though.

September 2nd, 2008 at 5:05 pm
Not necessarily...
If the Gov and her husband have adopted the child, the new birth certificate will show them as the parents.
September 2nd, 2008 at 5:23 pmI was watching some morning newscasters , with the sound off on my tv, just to judge their body language as they reported this latest announcement about Gov. Palin's pregnant, unwed, 17 year old daughter...and sure Enough....eyebrows were raised .
I'm pretty sure Bristol got the usual sex lecture about the benfits of postponing sex until you are ready to actually Care for a child.
Most parents these days supplement the "Just Say No" talk with a good dose of Sex Education, and in many cases...birth control.
I think Sen. Obama's reaction to this matter was thoughtfull, compassionate, and correct. That's why he'll make a great president.
As for Gov. Palin's disregard for her health, and the health of her baby (assuming she's telling the truth), her willingness to drag her daughter into all of this, and her willingness to preach to us all about God and Virtue...she's lost my vote.
September 2nd, 2008 at 5:40 pmWhat's hard to believe is that a 44 year-old woman whose had previous pregnancies, and knows this baby could be born with heart problems, intestinal problems, etc. and is one month premature, would stay all day in Texas - give a lecture - board a plane - take a 9 hour flight - drive another hour to a clinic - AFTER HER WATER HAD BROKEN!
Her reckless behavior with her own baby indicates a severe lack of judgment on her part.
September 2nd, 2008 at 5:53 pmThought rumor that new baby Trig might be daughter's baby was crazy but the picture of Sarah Palin at 7 months with no baby buldge at all, even being very athletic she would have some indication of pregnancy. Then speaking for 30 minutes, flying 8 hours traveling to her hospital while in labor ? Come on those of us who have had babies, you are just not that comfortable the day before delivering. And then the baby was a month early at 6+ lbs ? Doesn't fit.
September 2nd, 2008 at 5:54 pmMurphy belongs to Phil Gramm's "nation of whiners", right? ROFL!
September 2nd, 2008 at 6:40 pmit would be REAL easy to dispell ALL those rumours about Palin lying about "her" child....DNA TEST...but no, for some reason, they thought it would be more prudent to try and dispel the rumours by outing thier 17 daughter as being currently, conveniently, and unverifyably preggers as an alibi....
sounds to me like they've got SOMETHING to hide...doing a dna test which requires nothing more than clipping a piece of hair from the childs head is more difficult than outing your 17 year old daughter as being pregnant?
not if you've got nothing to hide...

I agree. KNowing the way they love to milk the whole "we care about life" meme for maximum political benefit, they may even stoop so low as try and milk it for martyr points and blame the miscarriage on the stress caused by left wing bloggers.
From what I can glean from what ive heard, the pictures I've seen of the entire family, the energy given off in the pictures and the look in their eyes, and also having a general understanding of teenage behaviour, I'm guessing Palins daughter was heavily into some upper, most like methamphetamines, drinking heavily, and having sexual relations with alot of whigger boys who liked to listen to hiphop to make thier racist parents mad. I'm also looking at Palin herself and seeing a promiscious c#ke whore who very likely doesnt want the paternity of ANY of her children scrutinitzed closely. My bet is that AT LEAST two of those children's parentage is not what its alleged to be.

WHAT IS IT WITH THESE GUYS?! Why cant they just shut-up and let the American people judge me on the things that matter, like my glasses and what church I belong to? Seriously. I have been wading in a mountain of poop all day about all the things I did in my past and these guys have too keep bringing things up?
So we must forget how you lost a couple taxpayer's milions being fooled in a land deal when you where in the office? Or your belonging to a secessionist party? What was the name of Jane Fonda in Repugnican circles yet? Oh, yeah, "Hanoi" Jane. And what is the greater value that shows in our face the Repugnican candidate every millisecond? That's right, his time as a POW 40 years ago.
And glasses? We must judge you based in your miopic choice of glasses?
Sorry, but if you're so unattached to reality, not only Liberels will be mean and stupid. You will get what you deserve from everyone from now on. Just wait for the Republican rat's not returning calls the day you make a mistake.
