Cindy McCain disagrees with Palin on abortion.

GOP Vice Presidential candidate Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) opposes the right to an abortion in all circumstances, unless the life of the mother is at stake. In 2006, Palin said that even if her daughter were raped, “I would choose life.” But in an interview scheduled to air this evening on CBS, Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) wife Cindy said she disagrees with that position. When host Katie Couric asked if she opposes abortion even in the case of rape or incest, Cindy McCain said, “No.” Couric then asked, “that’s where you [and Palin] differ?” “Uh-huh,” she replied.

What an odd couple, when you think about it.

A beer magnate’s daughter and her war veteran husband.
    and
A holy-roller small state governor and her “brood”.

I bet they just have tons to talk about.

  2. paleolib says:

Uh oh, time for Johnny to boycott appearances on CBS because Katie asked an “unfair” question.

So…the former mistress meets the potential next girlfriend…I’m glad I stuck around the U.S. for this.. :)

  4. clb72 says:

But Sarah’s daughter “chose” to keep her baby, in the words of the McCain campaign. Why do the minor children of Republican pro-life politicans get this “choice,” when the rest of us would not?

  5. Leftside Annie says:

Uh-oh! Geriatric Barbie is NOT supposed to have an opinion.

McCoot will call her a c&nt again if she doesn’t watch out!!

  6. DidHeJustSayThat says:

And? So do about 60% of Americans!

  7. Shayne says:

Uh oh, their first “cat fight”. McCain is probably all hot and bothered now.

They disagree? That is just terrible!

No it isn’t, anyway, they’re just doing it because the Viagra isn’t working for the old coot any more.

Gotta love the interview style of Sugar Mama McCain.

    Oy…

  10. BrianFL says:

Can you imagine the mentality of forcing your own daughter to give birth to a child that was the product of a brutal rape? I can’t even imagine the level of religious indoctrination it takes to get to that point. That kind of conversation sure would be comfortable to have with your child. Just imagine the psychological trauma. “I know you suffered a horrible rape honey, but I’m now going to force you to give birth to the man’s baby.”

It’s “pro-life” even at the expense of destroying lives. Are you then going to force your daughter to raise the baby of her rapist until adulthood? She can watch a male child grow up to look like the guy who raped her? The kid will likely also find out who their father is eventually, which would do wonders for their mental well-being.

Not only that, but you’re going to implement policies where ALL AMERICANS have to do this? Scary.

Talk about being on the fringe. Even the anti-abortion people I know (in a rural, conservative area of Florida) would never go that far.

  11. DidHeJustSayThat says:

Cindy McCain is lying, they are both women – you know they relate and agree on everything.

  12. DidHeJustSayThat says:

BrianFL: Of course you have her raise that child. Killing to birds with one stone. You get to have a young woman hate her child and then he gets to hate himself. Isn’t that the point.

No, but Bill is probably pretty jealous, considering he has to go home every night.

What’s Bill running for? And how do you know he has to go home every night?

Tracy_5 has a crush on Bill it seems…

  15. leonine says:

I never thought I’d say this, but the Palin clan makes the McCains look classy. Almost.

  16. IBTunion4obama says:

Who cares what Cindy says, both of their positions on abortion don’t really matter. On another note, I thought it was funny when Cindy said Palin had foreign policy experience because Alaska was next to Russia.

  17. dbadass says:

Well isn’t that nice. Do you now wanna explain why you brought him up in the first place?

  18. dbadass says:

Why not? I assume there was an intelligent on topic reason right? You wouldn’t wanna seem like one of those lunatic Clinton hating blinded by weird ideologies type nutcases would you?

  19. Badger says:

I’ve got to give credit to Katie Couric. She did not simply accept Ms. McCains’s first pat answer that she was “Pro- Life” and got her to admit that she would accept the right to abortions in the case of Rape or Incest.

Ms. Couric also got Cindy McCain to admit that Creationism should be taught in School. ( She should have asked specifically about in SCIENCE CLASS)

Gov. Palin needs to be VERY CLEAR about WHAT her Pro-life position Means.

For example, what about the morning after pill? Does she consider the use of this product by a woman after experiencing a date Rape to be Immoral? Murder?

If Gov. Palin is holds EXTREMIST Religious Positions, the Country NEEDS to Know About it…Ideally from her own Lips.

  20. dbadass says:

Oh Geez. So in the absense of refelctive thought but an over abundance of confidence in an ideology tais can just be chased. Have Fun…

  21. Badger says:

So Tracy 5, If you believe that Life Begins At Conception Like Sen. McCain…

Is the fertilized egg that results from a date rape, and is prevented from Implanting in the Womb by the Morning After Pill….a Life, and therefore entitled to full constitutional protection.

Would the rape victim then be an accessory to Murder?

And what about the unused frozen embryos tossed out at fertility clinics. Murder?

Does your Pay grade allow you an answer?

  22. dbadass says:

That’s a tough one. I have an idea… Why don’t we just let it up to the woman and her medical providers and hopefully family to make the best decision?

  23. Badger says:

    Tracy 5,

I appreciate your Candor. My Answer to your Question is a lot like Obama’s …I Don’t Know. I am therefore pro-choice, but I am Definitely NOT pro-Abortion.

I don’t buy the notion that “if you are against Abortion, then don’t have one” is a suitable position. I think of this rejoinder…” If you are against Slavery, then don’t OWN one.”

I am also bothered by this dichotomy. If the pregnancy is wanted, then it IS a Baby. If it is UNwanted, then it is not. Even though it’s the same.

I am FOR eliminating UNPLANNED PREGNANCIES. The case of Bristol Palin tells me that our society needs MORE than a “Just Say NO” Talk. Education and easy access to Birth Conrtrol are the truly PRO LIFE positions.

The number of abortions in this country is DISGRACEFULL. Everyone should know HOW women get pregnant, and How to prevent it. European countries like the Netherlands have much much lower Abortion rates than America Because they have a first Rate Health Care system, and comprehensive SEX Education.

I’m for Reducing the Numbner of Abortions to Very few, but I believe Outlawing them by Overturning Roe v. Wade would just lead to Back Alley Abortions.

    My two cents worth…

RepubliCONs believe that Women of America…
    HAVE NO CHOICE!

Sort of like wearing Burkas… NO?
