Kristol: Dating a stripper is ‘important for your character.’

Speaking at the Republican National Convention last night, former senator Fred Thompson mentioned that as a young man, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) “did drive a Corvette and date a girl who worked in a bar as an exotic dancer under the name of Marie, the Flame of Florida.” Thompson said this experience helped him “survive” his POW experience. Fox’s Bill Kristol and Brit Hume laughed conspiratorially at the idea of dating a stripper:

NINA EASTON: I thought — then Fred Thompson, we have heard the John McCain POW story before. But I thought he did an incredibly eloquent job using his acting skills to retell that. I’m still not sure how dating an exotic dancer helped john McCain survive that period [laughing], but it was colorful.

BILL KRISTOL: I’ll explain the dating exotic dancer thing to Nina off air.

BRIT HUME: It’s a guy thing?

KRISTOL: It’s important!

HUME: It’s a guy thing, right.

KRISTOL: It’s important for your character in a way that Nina might not fully understand.

Watch it:

Ironically, after Fox’s frat-boy-like enthusiasm for strippers, Fox News spent the next day infuriated over the supposed sexism of Gov. Sarah Palin’s critics.

Digg It!

Actually, McBush dated a lot more than a stripper when he came back from being a POW. I have read where he dated a lot of women before he met Cindy. The problem with that dating period is that he was married at the time and still living with his wife. Says a lot about his character, doesn’t it.

  2. stateofthedivision says:

Well, where’s Marie for an interview? Or does the McCain camp have her sequestered.

Don’t tell me she’s no longer alive, that would reflect badly on John’s age…

oh yea… and limpballs calls her a “babe”, with ankles…

    who else?

and hume had to ask “It’s a guy thing?” … imagine that…

What will Samantha Bee on The Daily Show do with this? The Republican vagina campaign continues…

  5. KiP says:

His acting skills? My mate and I both remarked that Thompson wasn’t much of an orator last night. What acting gig has he had that was any sort of a challenge?

Billy and Brit think it’s “a guy thing” that the only “dates” they could ever get were with prostitutes. Hubba hubba, guys!

What a dipshit. It’s real important for young men to go out see if they can catch a sexually transmitted disease. Oh yeah, they don’t believe in teaching sex education. But no sex before marriage. But Palin’s daughter did it.

What Kristol is saying is that it’s important for a young man to get the feel for the place of women. You can buy them to gain sexual experience which gives a young man confidence to go out and find a women that will do his biding for the rest of his life.

I too was less than impressed by the parade of tired old dudes. I thought Thompson’s speech was a mess. The stripper thing was so weird uncle awkward but whatever. I think the denial on the part of those who saw something different is similiar to when they refused to accept the fact that the rat pack was just a bunch of tired, old, past their prime nobody cared about anymore has beens.

  10. Styve says:

    Self-loathing closeted queens!! “It’s a guy thing,”…my ass!

  11. Bobwurst says:

yes bilbo it does, it was also against the the uniform code of military justice, I believe. Not that rules ever apply to republicans

the msm is acting like the repugs are viable.

  13. Game of Life says:

Tom B said the troopergate is a speed bump, it won’t amount to anything.

Oh really tom. This directly affects palin unlike the Rev. Wright truth.

Matter of fact tommy, you don’t tell us, we tell you!

  14. tbone says:

Yes, it’s very important to use relationships with women as a means to boost your self-confidence. The perspective of the woman doesn’t matter.

I must say that I am impressed that some of you have the stomach to watch the convention. I just can’t do it. I feel like I should watch Palin tonight to see what she is all about, but I honestly don’t know if I can listen to the nonsense.

  15. tom says:

KRISTOL: It’s important for your character

Then I would conclude that Little Billy Kristol never dated a stripper because he has no character.

  16. Styve says:

Aw tbone…hell, crack a beer and get ready for the Beverly Hillbillies do DC!! It should be sickeningly quaint, and pretty contrived.

  17. dbadass says:

Is it possible to use these tubes to find out the name of Kristol’s first pet and the street he grew up on?

With attitudes like pigs. And bragging like it’s a good quality.

No wonder women are getting raped and abused in the military.

    Gebus.

I bet Kristol’s Dad was one of those Dads that bought their son a hooker, because he was too ugly a teen to get a real date. LMAO.
And these guys promote “Family Values”.
Hilarious, in a sorry hypocritical way.

My Mom was a County Health extension director for years. She made sure I knew about Sex ed, STDs and condoms.
She told me to use them (condoms) or she would tan my hide, and I usually tried really hard to avoid Mom’s wrath.
    Heh

I’m sure I will give it a try, but it is going to be painful. I’ll take the extra precaution of watching CSPAN, so I can at least avoid the baseless gushing that will ensue shortly afterwards.

can’t wait for your lies tonight. I hope you come clean.

  25. tarazan says:

Thompson revealing to us what kind of experience McExotic possesses, it is a guy’s thing !!, and can only be revealed when the camera isn’t rolling and can be explained only off the air.
Wow…no wonder Thomspson left the Senate and went back to acting again.
So, character has a lot to do with exotic strippers..that’s a new theory by Thompson with exotic findings.

  26. SP Biloxi says:

Yup, Fox News: Where the distorted, racist, and perverted news matters.

  27. tbone says:

For the Republicans, it is all about family values – except when boys will be boys.

  28. Game of Life says:

    Uh-oh

this is too ridiculous for my brain.

  29. Game of Life says:

    MY BRAIN, MY BRAIN.

  30. Game of Life says:

  31. The Republic of Stupidity says:

Good Lord… what would Bill Kristol know about being a man?

  32. LibertyLover says:

Ol’ Fred Thompson lauds McCain’s choice of skirt chasing a stripper, and his “maverick” status with the number of demerits in the Naval Academy, but never mentions that McCain graduated 3rd from the bottom of his class. We’ve already had a C student in the WH, now we are gonna have another? or a D- student? and Palin? Isn’t her degree in Journalism?

Why yes, I can see where a Constitutional Law Scholar (Obama) Would be so much less appealing. Can’t we elect someone who understands the law this time?

  33. tbone says:

    Ok Styve:
I turned it on and now I get Michael Steele imploring us to drill baby drill. Oh Boy. It’s going to be a long night.

  34. AngryOne says:

Fred Thompson and Mitt Romney did John McCain no favors in providing the bookends for his biography this week at the Republican Convention. Because while Fred introduced America on Tuesday to the rebellious hellraiser that was the young John McCain, Mitt back in January documented that the volcanic McCain never outgrew his out-of-control temper tantrums in Washington.

    For the details, see:
“Exotic Dancers and Temper Tantrums: Fred and Mitt on McCain.”

  35. CitiDC says:

What would Billy Kristol know about female stripper?

There’s a reason why folks like him support “drilling.”

  36. greenpagan says:

Are the Republicans now the ‘Wild Party’ Party…?

They’ve finally caught up with the Sexual Revolution.

But their puritanical bible-banging hypocrisy is showing…

Out-of-wedlock kids and strippers are all okay now. And graduating at the bottom of your class with a beer glass in each hand–a fair and balanced diet…?. (As long as the good little cornponefed parishioners out there in Television Land understand: Do as we say, not as we do! Hallelujah!).

After coke-head alky shock-and-awe Dubya anything goes. The bar is open–and low…

  38. Max-1 says:

    .

    So, according to the GOP…

    Women are only good for:
    ~ Teenage pregnancies
    ~ Stripping
    ~ Cheep thrills
    ~ Pandering to other women
    ~ Divorcing

    … SEXIST MUCH?

    .

  39. ccrider27 says:

The important point here is that Repukes constantly emphasize family values and no sex education except abstinence. Since McCain was married to and living with his first wife at the time he dated a stripper and who knows what else, he was violating both principles.

But it’s just like the Repukes to solemnly tell others what to do and then snicker under the table when they are caught violating all of their commandments to others.

  40. Robt says:

Ahhh, Those conservative family values the Christian right never seems to be able to catch and confront.

I’m sure Gov Palin would put her patriotism into play to be that McCain exotic dancer for John if he needed it?

After all, she did say in her speech, that McCain is the guy she wants (besides her husband.

It would go to Palin putting her exotic dancing skill to work by putting the needs of her countrymen first………..
