Yesterday in his address to the Republican National Convention, Sen. Joe Lieberman (R-CT) tried to demonstrate the “maverick” appeal of Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) by invoking filmmaker Michael Moore. He said that “if John McCain is just another partisan Republican, then I’m Michael Moore’s favorite Democrat. And I’m not.” Watch it:
In a letter to Lieberman posted on his website, Moore responds, telling the senator to “get over” him:
With all the problems facing the world, why is valuable time being wasted reviewing a movie and attacking a filmmaker? And now you, Joe, tonight. Do you think you’re energizing the “base” by attacking me? [...]
Putting me in your convention speeches, attacking me nonstop on talk radio and Fox News — and thinking that this helps you — shows just how out of touch you all are.
Two-thirds of the country agree with my position on the war, two-thirds of the country agree with my position on a single-payer universal health care system, two-thirds believe in some form of gun control — name the documentary, pick the issue, and the American public agrees with Michael Moore. So get over me, will ya?
Yea, Mikey!

September 3rd, 2008 at 10:04 amI think Joe is referring to Senator McCain. Because as John Kerry said last week, Candidate McCain no longer supports any of Senator McCain’s initiatives.
September 3rd, 2008 at 10:05 amRight wingers are mostly simpletons with a cartoonish view of the world. They can’t handle facts, they can’t handle logic, they can’t handle any aspect of critical thinking. They need a Daddy figure to protect them, and to tell them who to hate. So every issue has to be somehow personified by a cartoon monster. Right wingers are trained to hate Michael Moore, because he brings truth to them about the war, as well as many other failures of the right wing agenda. Right wingers are trained to hate Al Gore, because he has publicized the threat of global climate change. Right wingers are trained to hate George Soros, because he finances the political opposition.

Obama To Appear On O’Reilly
Barack Obama will reportedly be going where not too many prominent Dems like to venture: The O’Reilly Factor on Fox News. Obama will be sitting down with O’Reilly for an interview set to air tomorrow night, in an attempt to counter John McCain’s speech at the Republican Convention.
I applaud Obama’s courage, and I might even watch O’Lielly for the first time in my life just to see Barack send BillO into a frothing frenzy.

September 3rd, 2008 at 10:19 amI watched our soldiers being used as pawns for political theater last night. As Fred ‘bad actor’ Thompson rambled on about McCheeks’ questionable military history, including shots of baby John in Admiral Daddy & Grandpa’s laps, they panned active duty military folks in uniform to reinforce the hoopla. It made me sick.

Meanwhile, note how the media kept calling LIEberman a Democrat.
Since when have Repukes put Country before Party? Answer: Once. at a National convention to put out a political slogan.
Anyone else note the mirrors high in the upper deck, positioned to enhance an appearance of a full house? The Excel Center’s capacity is about 20,000. It didn’t appear 2/3 full.

I suspect the reason why the Dems still put up with Lieberman is because his caucusing with the Dems is the only thing keeping the Dems in majority. However, even if he got stripped of his committee leadership, that’s not a guarantee he’d go running to the GOP caucus. They really don’t want him, either — except when he’s useful to rub in the Dems’ faces, or when they need his vote on any warmongering issue.
Lieberman is a major hawk when it comes to beating up any ME nation, and he marches in lockstep with the GOP on this. However, he’s not going to go along when it comes to bombing any country not a threat to Israel, no matter how much oil they have. He remains aligned with the Democrats on domestic and social issues, which rankles the GOP as well.
This will all be moot come November, though. The Dems will have a larger majority, and they won’t need Lieberman. He will no longer have a committee chairmanship and no hold over anyone. He will be free to caucus with whomever will take him — but that may be nobody.
September 3rd, 2008 at 10:30 amI listened to the Republican convention last night. A thin gruel. There seemed to be a lot less enthusiasm than the Democratic or wild, red meat 2004 Republican convention. The tone of most speeches was of self sacrifice and bad, big government. National security and 9/11 did not figure in very much. Most was of the heroism of McCain (I did not know that he refused to give military information, that is not what his autobiography said – but how would he know) and very, very little as to what the Republican plans actually are.

Republicans? Check facts? They don’t need to check facts. They already control most of the media (that’s right — the “liberal” media) and know they can say anything they want to and the media will dutifully report it without challenge. This happens over and over and over again.
Of course, not all voices are bought and paid for. So those of us who speak out against the machine have to be discredited as the “angry left” and compared to North Vietnamese torturers. I’m sure that Michael Moore feels very threatened by this…(not)

September 3rd, 2008 at 11:30 amANTI MICHAEL MOORE ANTI LIBERAL MOVIE COMING OUT IN OCTOBER!
They’ve been advertising this on The T.V.’s ALOT!
An American Carol is an upcoming 2008 comedy film that spoofs A Christmas Carol from a conservative view of liberal American culture, particularly Hollywood.[1] The film moves the setting of the story from Christmas to Independence Day. It is written by Myrna Sokoloff and David Zucker who also directed it. The movie stars Kevin Farley (brother of Chris Farley), Kelsey Grammer, Jon Voight, Dennis Hopper, Jillian Murray and Leslie Nielsen.[2] The film is in post-production and is set to be released in early October 2008.
Plot
Charismatic left-wing activist and filmmaker Michael Malone (Kevin Farley) is campaigning to end the celebration of the Fourth of July. Malone truculently argues to the American people that America’s past and present are offensive, and therefore should not be celebrated. Malone is then visited by three ghosts, George Washington, George S. Patton, and John F. Kennedy, who try to make him rethink himself and America.
The character Michael Malone is a parody of the American filmmaker, author, and liberal political commentator Michael Moore.
September 3rd, 2008 at 11:41 amSo true Katy. Nobody in Chicago can complain about the Mayor Daley. The city looks beautiful, tourism is better than it’s ever been in all my year. Plenty of jobs especially in the high paid construction industry. AND Chicago and Illinois gets much less money back from the federal government than it pays in. And now Chicago stands a good chance of getting the Olympics. I don’t hear Chicago residents complaining about Daley or the “Chicago machine”.
