Number of times Bush was mentioned during the RNC last night: 0.

Not only did the speakers during last night’s Republican National Convention fail to discuss the economy at all, they never once mentioned President Bush. TPM Election Central searched the texts of the speeches and found no mention of the words “Bush” or “president” when connected to Bush. It also notes, “The GOP’s page of speeches, which included the orations of a bunch of unknowns, didn’t even bother including the speeches given by the president or Laura.”

Digg It!

  4. Oval12345678 aka James K. Sayre says:

Why in the world would the Republican Party mention the name of their leader and our President, Mr. Zero, who has been busy destroying our Bill of Rights, our Constitution and our America for the last eight years?

  5. The Republic of Stupidity says:

    BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH… ***snork… whew…****

But… they’re fed up and they’re not going to take it anymore!!!!

“Number of times Bush was mentioned during the RNC last night: 0.”

OK TP, you’re technically correct the number is 0 regarding speakers at the podium.

However, when considering not just speakers, but the total number of people (?) in attendance, no way the number is 0.

I would bet the word “*sshole” was uttered at least 1,000 times. Perhaps in the tens of thousands of times.

    Sheesh. Picky, picky…..

  11. NutWrench says:

Well, they can’t kiss his ass ALL the time.

  12. CitiDC says:

I’m pretty sure that Bush violated the Hatch Act last night.

He delivered his live speech from the White House, on the State Floor in “Cross Hall.”

He did so from a military White House Communications Agency-suppied podium, with the White House Communications Agency-supplied Presidential Seal.

Using US Government buildings as a stage for partisan political activity and electioneering is illegal, even for the President.

  13. representativepress says:

And Bush is still a threat. And it is not just speakers at the convention who are not talking about vital issues. see video: US Media FAILS to Inform the Public about Looming ILLEGAL Attack which Risks Starting WORLD WAR THREE.

  14. Uncle Ho says:

Last night, no mention of Bushitler, but they did have a video link address by the self-appointed decider.

Tonight’s RNC convention highlight, a bimbo eruption.

  15. upside99 says:

I hope the Dems keep showing that great ad where McDepends is giving Dubya all that man-love, over and over and over ………

  16. sluggo says:

Why would you highlight your failures if you want to get elected? Rather than list all the Republican Failures over the last eight year, you could just save paper and list the Failure in Chief, GW Bush.

  17. larkohio says:

They might have mentioned the economy if they had their heads on straight. The whole country is hurting economically and those heating bills are coming. I can only conclude that they don’t care about the issues we face.

As for Bush, we are tired of him, and maybe they are, too. He has done them no favors.

  18. upside99 says:

Was it just me or did Laura look like she had been given a turbo dose of Prozac? I don’t think she would have felt it if someone had cut off her left arm, to the elbow.

    What a wooden performance!

  19. misshusseinmolly says:

Well, the first rule of marketing is to focus on your best selling points and downplay your weaknesses as much as possible.

This is why the GOP isn’t going to discuss the economy (weakness), shine any spotlight on Dubya (liability), point out their stellar record on affordable healthcare (laughable), talk much about why we’re still in Iraq (embarrassing), hype up 9/11 (past sell-by date)…

Um…what ARE they going to talk about? Oh yeah. Attack the “angry left”. They don’t have anything else.

This issue came up regarding Al Gore’s fundraising activities as VP. I remember that the President is exempt as a matter of law. I think the VP might also be exempt.

Wow, good catch! This Administration has been in campaign mode for so long now that, like most Americans, they probably didn’t even notice, themselves.

  23. Paul W says:

It would be funny if it wasn’t so tragic. McCain has every intention of carrying Bush’s policies forward all the while distancing himself from Bush.

It certainly can be difficult being a hypocrite.

Oh, dang… You’re right: Only the president, vice president, and appointees requiring Senate confirmation (such as Cabinet secretaries) are exempt.

  25. pete says:

And yet, they still managed to convey their worship of the shrub, and all his “accomplishments”, while attaching McSpin so firmly to the “Bush legacy” that he’ll never scrub the stink off.

To sum it all up :

Chimpy was mentioned the same number of times that equals his IQ and the equivalence of what his presidency has been……

  27. LividLib says:

    are we surprised?
i’d expect venereal warts to be mentioned before numbnuts.

  28. Buckie Boy says:

Well, after all, Bush does equal a big ZERO.

And the RNC leader said that the convention is not about issues.

It’s about brainwashing the LIV to believe that a Creationist, Anti-Choice, Unqualified, Gov. of Alaska (Big State) next to Russia and Canada is qualified to be President when Grampy McSame drops dead.

If this clowns get elected we will be the laughing stock of the entire world, yes, even worse than we are now.

  29. Wayne says:

The McCain Campaign is trying to run away from Bush while still holding to his nutsack ( thats got to hurt ), so them not mentioning him is no surprise.

The comparison to the Democratic Convention and the Republican Convention as far as the amount of people shown is striking.
At this rate, the next RNC Convention will probably be held in one of McCain’s back yards, and seats will still be empty.

  30. desertflower1 says:

You have to wonder…if they’re so proud of the party, feeling passionately how it’s so “just” and “right for our country” it is..then why would they dis the guy that’s the leader of their party! They want to distance themselves from him as much as possible, for one reason only, and that is that this party, with these ideals, is sinking America…and they know it!

  31. desertflower1 says:

Back to my original thought about how Bush would appear at this convention…That huge face on the JumboTron….Orwellian

  32. shoeless says:

The Republicans are lucky that Hurricane Gustav gave them an excuse to cut way back on the number of speakers at their convention. Any Republican with a shred of decency or self-respect, like Arnold Schwarzenegger or Olympia Snowe, wouldn’t come within 1000 miles of St. Paul this week. And, many of the vast number of Republicans who possess neither of those qualities, like Bush, Cheney, DeLay, Gingrich, ect., ect, had to be kept off the stage in order to avoid completely destroying McCain’s campaign.

  33. Zimzone says:

They also failed to mention that Gustav prevented him from appearing Monday night…but he was certainly available Tuesday night.

They still didn’t want him raining down on their hate-fest!

    hoo rah.

    more of that!

  36. CitiDC says:

    @VerbalKint

There is no blanket exemption for the President.

The President himself is Hatch Exempt (he can go to political rallies any time of the day), but his actions are not (he could not fly the McCain staff around on AF-1).

Using the facilities of the White House as a prop to advocate for McCain is illegal. Bush can say whatever he wants, but just cannot do it from inside the confines of the White House.

Prosecution, another matter entirely. As Gore said “no controlling legal authority.” Just a principle. That they both crapped on.

  37. texaslady says:

Well you can’t blame the repubs for doing their sales job, and good salespeople know when to gloss over the failure of their products.

  38. Buckie Boy says:

And have you seen the Signs they are holding up at the convention?

    Country First

Could the Repukes be anymore hypocritical?

    Repukes are PARTY FIRST.

  39. mary says:

Check out this picture of McCain apparently meeting the baby-daddy (I read that the young dad-to-be’s myspace profile said that he didn’t want children).

McCain looks like he’s saying something like, “Well done son!”

  40. mary says:

I agree katy @35!!!! Talk about refreshing to hear someone finally call it like it is! He lied! He didn’t “misspeak” or however they usually dance around the fact that these b astards lie!

  41. texaslady says:

Why is Laura Bush given so much credit ? She is just a Barbara in disguise. After all, as she said, “no one feels as bad about the troops that die as we do.” Uh huh sure.

  42. backup says:

If they are trying to ignore him, it’s odd that they aired his speech.

  43. pete says:

What I found most telling was the wild exuberance displayed during Laura Bush’s intro. This crowd still believes that the economy is strong and the invasion of Iraq improved our image and made us safer. It never even occurred to them that they were cheering a Prez who allowed one more major terrorist attack than the previous 42 combined.

I am left with only one possible conclusion. In order to serve as a delegate to the GOP convention one must be congenitally insane or lobotomized during adolescence. Their perception of reality is faulty to an extreme.

Since there is no logic, compassion, or reason to which rational people may appeal? They will remain dangerous until they are utterly broken as a political force. Thank Jebus they just don’t know when to STFU.

  44. upside99 says:

    backup Says:

If they are trying to ignore him, it’s odd that they aired his speech.

Yea, right. When has there been a sitting President NOT been at the RNC? He had a video of his speech and it wasn’t even in Prime Time.

Get over it, he is THE WORST PRESIDENT EVER!

  45. pete says:

Then, of course, there’s the possibility that the puppet masters are afraid to risk conveying the message that, as bad as he’s been, Chimpy is better qualified than the clowns they nominated. I mean, how confident could they possibly be with Flippy McSpin and “Theocracy gal”?

  46. konchster says:

I noticed that Palin is also a maverick It would appear that to be a successful candidate from the repugs you have to not be one I don’t think their brand is dog food it’s the other end of the dog we’re dealing with

And now for your listening pleasure, we are proud to present the Internet premiere of the latest music video from Little Georgie W. Hit it boys.

If they are trying to ignore him, it’s odd that they aired his speech.

Cheney, as evil as he is, had enough sense to go to the other side of the world, and avoid even that much contact with the convention. Bush is too stupid to realize that even a short, non-primetime video is enough to damage McCain. Undoubtedly, the RNC begged Bush to stay away, but had to compromise with him by allowing a pathetic video while no one was watching.

Given that your party has deserted Bush, it’s odd that you 25% deadenders still crawl out from under your rocks to debase yourselves by defending the worthless, moronic liar.

  50. A Patriot Acting says:

How ironic would it be if, say a couple of years from now, a presidential contender for Iraq runs on the platform of what a hero he is for enduring five years of torture in captivity at Gitmo? What would the repukes have to say about an Iraqi using his personal experiences with “enhanced interrogations” under the authority of Georgie Bush using similar pomp and pulling of heartstrings that the entire night of the RNC used? Baring every detail of his endless days of abuse at the ruthless hands of the US Army in hopes of winning the sympathy vote. Except that in cotrast to McCain admitting to dropping bombs on the Vietnamese this person never admitted to or was charged with any crime against the USA or proven guilty in a military trial. Would the Repukes agree that this man’s enduring experiences as a detainee show the kind of character needed to be the leader of a free Iraq?

  51. A Patriot Acting says:

…I would bet that the name “George Bush” would be invoked many times at such a convention.

  52. upside99 says:

What a contrast from the DNC!

okay. But, at least you have the hope that the agony will stop after he leaves office. Republicans never got that relief:

    Shoeless,

If they went to the Metrodome, they could have held it in the upper deck concession stands.

Or better yet, at the Larry Craig Memorial stall at MPLS, then the 138 delegates wouldn’t have had to leave the airport.
