Very well said, as always, missm. Personally, I will do all within my limited means to prevent anyone with an (R) after their name from gaining office. Unless and until a new "conservative" movement arises and makes punishing their guilty predecessors their first priority. I seriously doubt that will happen in my lifetime but, a guy can hope.

And I've let various legislators know my thoughts since "snail-mail" was the only means of communication. Let us hope that we have not been forced to revisit the "pony express" before "conservatives" figure out we have to conserve our resources.

Thanks for the plain text. I was able to read it easily and I agreed with everything you said.

Please know, however, that many of us are doing more than just blogging. We are writing letters to our editors, we are getting our friends and acquaintances (and even total strangers, where possible) registered to vote, we are doorbelling for Obama, and we aren't allowing GOP sock puppets to spout their talking points anywhere within our earshot without challenging them.

By not allowing the press or anyone to ask hard questions of Ms Palin, she won't have to acknowledge how ill prepared she is. Women I have talked with, even my conservative friends are shocked and insulted that mccain thinks just a female body will bring votes. We are intelligent enough to want a thoroughly vetted and experienced person in second command. We had 8 years of on the job training with bush and look where we are now.

Reply to #56 Uncle Ho: Ok I give up, you guys are right about the bold. Just trying to get noticed, but went about it the wrong way. You guys missed the entire point by focusing on the print size. If you guys care about this election or country, then we need to team up to help win rather than just blog to each other. Sitting around typing messages for each other doesn't get any of us or the country anywhere. Like I said, I oppose Sen. McCain/Palin on the issues, not because she's a women or he's 72 years old.

The point I was attempting to make is, the media's attempt to wall Sara Palin off from fair criticism or an examination of her record. They (the media) are trying to influence this election by putting her off limits. Being a women does not give her the right to hide from her record or the positions of the McCain campaign. If she wants to play in the arena with men, then she has to play by and be held to the same rules and standards. We the Republican party is against affirmative action only when they aren't trying to use it to her advantage.

I have nothing against women at all, my wife, mother, sister, and daugthers are all women. If they want a job, then they have to compete for it just like any man would. My other point was the Obama campaign needs to have Sen. Clinton and other Democratic women call the Republicans, McCain and Sara out on this attempt to avoid scrutiny of Sara by claiming "sexism". If Sen. Obama came out and said, "They are attacking me based on "racism", his campaign would lose in a landslide. But McCain/Palin is playing the "Sexist Card" and getting away with it.

This is American and she wants to be VP, a heart beat away from the Presidency and if she's not qualified, then she shouldn't be elected. I know I don't trust her to stand up to dictators like Putin of Russia, Iran or any other totalitarin leader. My point is if she can't defend herself from Joe Biden, how can she stand up to Putin? Does anyone on this site actually feel comfortable about this women deciding if we go to war or not. I don't believe she's got the experience, knowledge or guts to stand up to Iran, Russia, Pakistan, or any other tin horn dictator.

pete. Deportation is a little over the top. But, the exposure of the candidate using their faith to govern (with the assumption that future behavior would be similar) should be grounds for disqualification.

For that matter. Any politician who proclaims that their policies will impose their private religious Beliefs on others should not be allowed to run for any office. And I would be thrilled if such persons were deported.

Every word that I read about Ms. Palin demonstrates that she's a dangerously delusional radical. Once one adopts the stance that the occupation of Iraq is "ordained by God and/or Jesus"? One should be exempt from public service.

But there's a difference. Her daughter is in a family which is well-heeled.

The home for unwed mothers is for ladies who don't have money. They're different you know !

While I agree that the family of the candidates should be off-limits, Palin's removing funding for unwed mothers should be fair game as that was an official action. And the hypocritical nature of supporting her daughter while not supporting others is also an official action.

In addition to the 1.1 million dollar budget reduction from the Covenant House, Palin cut $268 million from other areas.

Progressives have joined the chorus that we need to reduce our 9 Trillion dollar debt and our annual deficits that add to it.

Palin didn't single out teenage mother's for cost cutting. And when we finally cut funding on a national level to address the burgeoning debt, their will be many individual constituencies that will lament the reductions.

We can argue priorities. That's valid - but, Palin cut much more than just the Covenant House. And we as a national will have to implement similar broad based cuts (in addition to new sources of revenue, ie taxes) if we are ever really going to seriously address the debt.

By the way why are there so many vacant seats in the GOP convention ? Just curious.

I suspect it's because it's not a "public" event, such as one that people could get tickets to. One has to be a delegate, a member of the press, an invited guest, or some other credentialed person to get into the arena.

That said -- I'm a bit surprised that the PR people for this shindig didn't make sure there were enough "invited guests" to ensure all the seats would be filled.

That's why they pretended to be delaying the start because of the hurricane. Lack of interest.

Could it be that TP’s zeal to ferret out hypocrisy was a bit too zealous?</blockquote>

Could it be that bitblt's ambition to make some sense was a bit too ambitious?
