This morning on MSNBC’s Morning Joe, Time Magazine Jay Carney pointed out that Gov. Sarah Palin has yet to answer any questions on foreign or domestic policy. McCain adviser Nicolle Wallace interjected, “Who cares?!” Wallace insisted that Palin “can answer the question” of how Americans can save their homes; in fact, Wallace erroneously said, Palin talked about it last night:
CARNEY: We don’t know yet and we won’t know until you guys allow her to take questions, you know, can she answer tough questions, you know, domestic policy, foreign policy–
WALLACE: But I mean like from who? From you? Who cares?!
CARNEY: Who cares? I think the American people care.
WALLACE: I think the American people want to see her — I mean who cares if she can talk to Time Magazine? She talked to the American people. The American people want to say, “How am I going to save my home?” She can answer that question. … She took the stage and talked to the American people about things they care about: How they’re gonna save their homes.
Watch it:
Of course, Palin never said anything about the housing crisis in her speech. Though she attacked Barack Obama and community organizers, lied about her opposition to the Bridge to Nowhere, and reversed positions on whether we can “drill our way out of” the energy crisis, Palin did not mention any aspect of domestic or foreign policy during her speech. She discussed McCain’s POW experience, compared herself to a pitbull, and declared that “victory in Iraq is finally in sight,” but never said anything remotely related to how Americans could save their homes.
Appearing on CNN this morning, Sen. Joe Biden (D-DE) praised her performance but said it lacked specific policy recommendations. “I didn’t hear the phrase ‘middle class.’ I didn’t hear a single word about health care. I didn’t hear a single word about helping people get to college,” Biden said.
Palin told people ‘how they’re gonna save their homes.
I had no idea that many sandbags are being filled.

I’ll bet a dollar to a donut that Nicole has been promised Dana Bimborino’s job in a McNumbNuts administration. She is uniquely qualified.

September 4th, 2008 at 3:08 pmThe cavalier attitude of the Rethuglicans is mind blowing. Is this a sign they’ve come completely unglued? Or do they really have no idea of the election disaster they’re headed towards? Are they simply cretins? All of the above?
September 4th, 2008 at 3:09 pmLet’s see… we know that McCain was a POW and that Palin is a woman.
Yup, that’s all we need to know to determine the fate of the United States of America….
September 4th, 2008 at 3:09 pmDid I mention the Mayor’s office in Wassilla doubles as a burger shack?
September 4th, 2008 at 3:09 pmShe must have lots of experience at grilling mooseburger.
Who cares ?this exactly how the Repukes think of Americans. She is not going to answer any questions unless it’s Faux News. But it’s what Repukes do best, they lie.
September 4th, 2008 at 3:10 pmI’m surprised Habitat for Humanity would want to have McIIIrd anywhere near their projects. He can’t hold a hammer, or a nail, was he going to have PileOn mount some moose antlers in the basement?
September 4th, 2008 at 3:11 pmI love it! Why does John McCain hate humanity? Watching them circle the wagons while at the same time alienating the middle class Independents that they so desperately need. They’ve done a bang up job licking fundamentalist asses with their VP selection though. That ought to get them real far(snicker)
September 4th, 2008 at 3:11 pmHaven’t you heard? Habitat for Humanity is a community organizing group – this is not the current campaign theme.
September 4th, 2008 at 3:14 pmThey are all lying sacks of shit.
The Reich-wing is going to put her on Fox Noise as an “exclusive interview” where she will be soft-balled, big time and that’s the last we will see of her answering questions.
September 4th, 2008 at 3:14 pmThe RNC really is taking place in a bubble. This whole convention has been twenty gallons of angry stuffed into a one quart baggie. No solutions. No recognition that the problems we face came up on the watch of — and often were caused by — a Republican administration and congress. These people are going to be shocked when their four days of bile just leaves the rest of the country asking “what are you going to do about it?”
September 4th, 2008 at 3:16 pmGuess it wouldn’t be advantageous to be seen at “community organizing” event would it?
September 4th, 2008 at 3:17 pmMcCain may not be Bush, but Palin sure seems to be. No accountability, no answering questions, no acceptance that the media even has a role in honest society. In fact, no acceptance that truth or honesty have any merit whatsoever.

She’s going to get smoked at the veep debate.
Get your liver and onions ready, sliced liver on the menu.
September 4th, 2008 at 3:18 pmIt won’t be long before, ala Chicken George WTF, all their appearances will be by invitation only with armed Blackwater guards at the doors. After all the terrists abound in the streets where the Repukes live. Of course they will spin it to where they are creating jobs for the New Gestapo by arresting all the terrists masquerading as journalists and peaceful Democrat demonstrators.
September 4th, 2008 at 3:20 pmMcCain advisor Nicole WALLACE: “But I mean like from who? From you? Who cares?!” She is responding to Jay Carney, Time Magazine with her insolent, snide and abject dismissal of the fourth estate (except right-leaning Fox, et al). I am writhing in pain and misery at the prospect of a McCain victory. No, McCain is not right for our country and his one-day vetted VP choice is insulting, both in her politics and her experience.
September 4th, 2008 at 3:20 pm“I think the American people want to see her — I mean who cares if she can talk to Time Magazine?”
sad, but true.
September 4th, 2008 at 3:21 pmsad that so many Americans are misinformed simpletons.
Palin loves her some Pitbulls.
Polar Bears?…not so much…
September 4th, 2008 at 3:22 pmI thought this election campaign was going to be different with candidates talking issues not using sarcasm and avoiding their real opinions. Palin didn’t write that speech, her handlers did, and they will keep her opinions quiet until after November 4th. I heard answers from Obama and I wasn’t that sold on him til his speech. As much as I hate it I will listen to Mccain to see if he has answers which he hasn’t bothered to inform us of in this long campaign. Repubs never, ever talk issues !
September 4th, 2008 at 3:22 pmHmmmm,
September 4th, 2008 at 3:23 pmA female Pitbull rhymes with ‘rich’…yup, that’s our Sara.
Why is it that the “liberal Media,” allegedly favoring Obama and Biden, has not published the fact that the winner of the Miss Alaska contest in question was a male Walrus in drag?
September 4th, 2008 at 3:23 pmWALLACE: I think the American people want to see her — I mean who cares if she can talk to Time Magazine? She talked to the American people.

So the ability to read someone else’s words off a TelePrompter and convert them into audible speech is now a qualification to be leader of the free world?
Sheesh. The presidential bar has gotten so low, the candidates may as well limbo under it instead of jumping over it.
September 4th, 2008 at 3:24 pmLivid – so true, so many men and women won’t even bother actually checking her history or looking closely. All I hear is “she is a babe”. Well, looks are great but you need intelligence and experience more than looks.
September 4th, 2008 at 3:24 pmtexaslady Says: “Well, looks are great but you need intelligence and experience more than looks.”
Not necessarily when you have a job working for McPimp. She is nothing more than the duty ho.
September 4th, 2008 at 3:27 pmI have to say that after watching a little of her speech (sorry, I tried to get through the whole thing and I just.couldn’t.do.it.), she better not bring up the “sexist” thing again. Did anyone see the buttons that people were wearing saying “hottest vp” or something to that effect?
September 4th, 2008 at 3:30 pmNicolle Wallace had that job briefly when Dan Bartlett left the post. She didn’t seem to last long. But she had worked on the Bush/Cheney campaign as well. It shows doesn’t it.
September 4th, 2008 at 3:30 pmNicolle Wallace is has been Palin’s handler since she got the nod and helped her work on her speech. Like Palin wasn’t screechy or evil enough before Wallace got to her.
September 4th, 2008 at 3:32 pmHave they forgotten that they’re auditioning for a position where the taxpayers are their bosses?
I think they have a slightly different thought — they believe that the tax-dodgers are their bosses. And their mission is to seal another election so they can rewrite the codes to institutionalize the dodge and build a pipeline taking the money out of Washington D.C. directly into corporate boardrooms all over the U.S.
September 4th, 2008 at 3:33 pmYou know what Crusty this woman and her party set women back 40 years ! That she is allowed to snark, hit and run behind being a woman so be nice to me REALLY, REALLY insults me. I hope other women see this as well.
September 4th, 2008 at 3:36 pmEither stand up and be treated equally or go back into your Governor’s office. She is NO Ann Richards !!!
Cheney: SO?
Wallace: Who Cares?
Basically the same statement, eh? In other words, we’re not in this for public opinion. Just STFU while we fool the electorate.
September 4th, 2008 at 3:38 pmPalin’s the Lord’s Plunger handle, by which the GOP plans to ass-rape what’s left of the Constitution. I discussed the matter on my blog.
September 4th, 2008 at 3:39 pmShe’s there to be a woman, look pretty, rattle off our talking points on command, and suck in any Hillary supporters who are dumb enough to think that one woman is pretty much interchangeable with another.
The thing that the right isn’t thinking about is that the above kind of thinking is way more sexist than questioning Sarah Palin as to what she does as a mother.
September 4th, 2008 at 3:39 pmSaturday night two spokespeople from Alaskan newspapers commented that “Palin is the same as Dan Quayle.” Two different newspapers ! So, what do they know that we aren’t allowed to hear.
September 4th, 2008 at 3:39 pmThe speech was good in so much as it was written for a purpose, likely being to rehash and regurgitate the GOP talking point about Obama and to wage a war on (as Bush termed this portion of the citizenry) “the angry left.”
I find it hard to believe that the McCain campaign’s lack of substantial response to the crises facing the country, factored with the comments they are actually making:
“this election is not about the issues”
“the fundamentals of the economy are strong”
“Americans have become a nation of whiners”
“mental recession”
I could go on (and on…). Are an actual option for many voters.
And, can we get a ticker already and stop pretended we’re shocked when that crew lies, distorts facts, misrepresent candidates positions or otherwise misleads the American people. The media has no interest in discussing this. Rather, they are looking to make it a election worth covering so refuse to discuss it.
September 4th, 2008 at 3:40 pmWho cares about beauty contests when democracy in America is under siege from the lunatic right. Obama and Biden need to find innumerable historic quotes that refute what MCain and Palin are spouting today.
September 4th, 2008 at 3:40 pmSarah Palin IS BIG OIL WRAPPING HERSELF IN THE FLAG AND THE ONLY CHRISTIAN PARTY! I fear freakin’ dumb Americans are going to be duped yet again.
September 4th, 2008 at 3:40 pmYes, McCain in ALL his wisdom, cancelled his planned visit with Habitat For Humanity…after all, after the VP wanna be slammed Obama’s work as a community organizer as unimportant and bearly worthy, how could he show his stupid a$# at one of the most influencial community oraganizations there is?? These people aren’t of this universe. GET MAD! VOTE! :)
September 4th, 2008 at 3:41 pmBut nobody in the Party can be honesty enough to question her qualifications. What is that about ? Where are the backbones and gonads. Caught a minute from The View and Barbara Walters is definitely questioning, even commented she would probably not get that interview now.
September 4th, 2008 at 3:43 pmGood grief, palin is two heartbeats from being the President !!! Of course mccain is already planning to have liebermann be the actual V.P. with palin just sitting at the desk.
They can’t shield Ms. Palin forever. At some point she will have to actually speak for herself. Can’t wait for the day…unless her world unravels with more scandal..Find it hard to believe that the bulk of the population would vote for someone they didn’t know…after all, wasn’t that the arguement they gave to Obama????All’s fair…unless it’s about YOU!

It could be even worse than that. The Republicans may have made a deal with McBush for him to step down after elected due to health reasons, making Palin President. Then they can put in their newest version of Dick Cheney and we will have another stealth President and another 4 years of the misery of the last eight.

I definitely plan on watching.

It’s really pretty funny when you figure that for the past eight years, we have had a Republican-controlled White House, a Republican-controlled Supreme Court, and for six of those eight years we have had a Republican-controlled legislature. And their entire theme appears to be “we’re mad as h*ll and we’re not gonna take it anymore!”
It’s especially funny when you have people like Mitt Romney saying “We need change, all right — change from a liberal Washington to a conservative Washington! We have a prescription for every American who wants change in Washington — throw out the big-government liberals, and elect John McCain and Sarah Palin.”
It’s enough to make any thinking person go, “HUH?”
September 4th, 2008 at 3:56 pmMSM is also ignoring the illegal arrests for conspiracy to riot, haven’t heard a word except here. Of course the conservatives are saying, what about last week the Dems did it too. Did they ? Anyone know ?

Was that the Jeremy Scahill report from Democracy Now? That was great. I like the guy he interviewed earlier in the piece who raved about how McCain and Palin were so completely qualified to “run the company… um, country.”
September 4th, 2008 at 4:02 pmShe ran for Gov. supporting the earmark aka Bridge to Nowhere. The State ended up getting that money. In her speech she said the opposite. Is that lying or is saying ‘no thanks’ the same? It turns out that there were quite a few ‘inaccuracies’ in her speech.
There was the Fab Four, then there was the Fabricated Four. The rebuplicans remind me of the early Monkeys: a gimick to profit off someone else’s originality.

September 4th, 2008 at 4:10 pmNumber One, we need a President who will represent the entire country. With Nicole Devenish Wallace, you have to be an idiot to believe McCain is that man! I,m embarassed that members of McCain’s campaign staff, can feel so free to talk that way! How toxic the rethuglican party has become!
September 4th, 2008 at 4:13 pmI think that we are actually seeing the new Republican theme. The party will not make Palin available to the media other than the house organ, FAUX News. It will be their intent to deny press access using her as a show tool. Any complaints by the press will be passed off as irrelevant because the press has already discredited itself by unfairly attacking her. We will see nothing but red meat to the most right wing of the party. There will be plenty of snark, mockery and outright low road attacks.
September 4th, 2008 at 4:14 pm“change from a liberal Washington to a conservative Washington!”
“Any conservative acts like it has been a Democrat President and Congress these last years.”
These were my observations of the speeches as well. I couldn’t help but think that they are all just preparing themselves for returning to the “victim mode” that they perfected during the 90’s. It started to fade away, these last few years, but it has always been just below the surface… because they have nothing else besides feigning damage from the liberal boogeyman.
September 4th, 2008 at 4:14 pmOT but it’s a response to a quote from a UK paper
Brian Kilmeade of Fox & Friends raised that issue with Biden on Thursday morning, asking about “a report that if you guys are elected … you’re actually going to pursue criminal charges against President Bush’s administration and different people that served there.”
“That’s not true,” Biden immediately replied. “I don’t know where that report’s coming from. What is true is the United States Congress is trying to preserve records on questions that relate to whether or not the law has been violated by anyone. Anybody should be doing that.”

To finance this perpetual phony war on terror our country is in deep debt with communist China. Who cares?
We have rising unemployment, permanent loss of jobs overseas, stagnant or falling wages, loss of pensions, the loss of the manufacturing base which was what once made our country strong. Who cares?
We have seen the rising costs of oil, gas, heating fuel, food, health care, prescription drugs. Who cares?
We have seen what deregulation has done to Wallstreet, Mortgage companies etc, etc. Who cares?
We see the largest disparity in wages in our countries history between CEO’s and their workers. Who cares?
We have seen our constitution being taken apart bit by bit by a corrupt administration. Who cares?

September 4th, 2008 at 4:27 pmTheir entire convention has been void of substance. They can’t exactly run on eight years of peace and prosperity. Any substance would point to democrats as the only option. They have to convence everyone that rebuplicans are the only ones that can fix problems caused by rebuplicans.
September 4th, 2008 at 4:30 pmWhat are you complaining about?
OF COURSE Palin didn’t mention anything of substance.
That was not an accident.
The Pukes don’t want the bible-babbling bint to say anything at all. But she’s gotta make speeches, so you get the tightly scripted wall of blather you got last night.
September 4th, 2008 at 4:35 pmAnd what the hell’s up with the Repukes having a ‘theme’ for each day. Yesterday was ‘prosperity’. And not a word about the economy, housing meltdown, etc.
September 4th, 2008 at 4:42 pmToday is ‘peace’, and we get warmongering McIIIrd and Bull Frist remotely diagnosing Palin’s mental problems.
Community organizers like Barack Obama very specifically tell people how to save their homes from foreclosure. Banks do not tell people what is in the people’s best interests and conservatives believe it is not the government’s role. According to conservatives, noone helps the people. It is sink or swim with them.
I hate the way that they imply that Obama was a community organizer because he could not get a real job—like the leader of the Harvard Law Review would have trouble getting a high-paying job.

September 4th, 2008 at 5:01 pmSARAH PALIN IS IRRELEVANT — LET’S GET REAL FOR A MOMENT
Assuming, for the sake of discussion, the best case scenario for McCain and he wins ALL the deeply red states AND AK, AZ, TX, MO, IN, WV and GA, which he should do, AND also the states of NV, MT, ND, SD, CO, VA, NC and NH, which he shouldn”t do, in order to reach 270 electoral votes he”d have to ALSO win either OH and PA or OH and FL or PA and FL. Go to the electoral-vote.com website and make a realistic evaluation. Anybody want to give me odds on McCain being able to do that?
September 4th, 2008 at 5:21 pmIs there anything scarier than the idea McCain and Palin could win the election. http://www.barackobama.com/index.php
Please go to this site and volunteer, or donate, or buy a sign to put on your lawn. This is to important to leave to anybody else. You can also look at your state from here and see what events are going on in your community. Especially people who have teenagers at home. We need to register them to vote because today’s kids aren’t as narrow minded.
September 4th, 2008 at 5:28 pmIf universities can give honorary degrees to political leaders, can the University of Idaho go the other way and strip Palin of her BA in journalism?
September 4th, 2008 at 5:40 pmosage,
At electoral-vote.com, if you forget the states that are within margin of error (barely Dem and barely Repub)—then Obama leads 260-176. That is an awfully big lead. I don’t think Barbie Mooseburgers and McPanderer are going to excite the undecideds enough to change that. More likely, Obama and Biden will do a lot better in the debates and reminding the people how bad Repub policies have been.
There is still the problem with the votes being counted by machines made by conservatives. All the evidence is Kerry won last time by 3%!!!

screech? My ears are bleeding after that on.
Why is the msm saying dropped-in-palin hit a homerun; it energized the repug party; it’s a winner; she’s stronger than mcchimpy (that’s saying a lot); her speech got 1m less than Sen. Obama’s historic speech and nonsense like that?
What the hell are the msm watching?
After one sarcastic, flaming, piece of robocop speech. repugs are ready to lay it down to her, surrender; and repugs call Sen. Obama a messiah; who are the freakin robots? One pitiful uninspiring speech and they roll. Are they kidding me?
the msm are usless, making up bs and passing it off as breaking news.
News Flash repugs: palin is the pits. Face it.

I don’t think she’ll be doing any Q and A w/ the media. The truth might interfere with the larger than life image Republicans are trying to create through hype (they already tried/lied by saying her teleprompter failed last night but she was able to continue on with no problem. Truth being that the teleprompter was not broken).
Hmmm…Question. Has anyone looked at the transcript presented to the media BEFORE the speech was given. Im curious what she actually MADlibed, or if this whole teleprompter malfunction story is more character narrative BS.
Even if the teleprompter broke and she was able to “recover” from her rehearsed speech, so what. pat b on msnbc was making a big deal about nothing. Like this “super recoving method” is a rare and special quality and is fit to be raised to a level of Sen. Obama community service. Ridiculous and Sickening.
September 4th, 2008 at 6:39 pmNicole Wallace is a lying dog or should I say “bltch”. Sara palin didn’t say a thing about helping anyone except John McCain. This is what pisses me off about Republicans, they sit there and tell a flat out lie and act like they are telling the truth and then dares anyone to question them.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:44 pmSomeone has to stick up for the media.
They’re told to cover and how to cover it by both sides: the candidate’s campaign and their execs. It’s rare when a journalist or reporter can ask the questions they REALLY want to ask. When a candidate, for example, is scheduled for a show (ANY show), the producers are given lists of “suggested” questions and told what topics the candidate WILL NOT DISCUSS. Period. Charlie Rose may get in a tug-of-war with a guest sometimes, but the people who watch Charlie Rose are in the top 5% of viewers who have an education. Rose asks questions for candidates and people to THINK about. How many candidates (while running)have actually been on a show like Charlie Rose’s? Not many, probably none, because Rose will never be told what to ask. Even Oprah has to toe the line!
In the case of McCain/Palin you will see many media appearances, but rest assured that they will insist that every question be scrutinized or edited out.
Also: If 60 Minutes had been owned by Rupert Murdoch at the time, the scandal of Abu Graib would never had come to light. NEVER.
Are journalists and reporters cowards? No, they do hope to sneak in a probing question or two, but they have to do it in the midst of many bland, non-harmful questions. That’s just the way it is.
September 6th, 2008 at 1:15 amThis is an extremely important issue that Obama’s campaign and the Democrats must deal with during this campaign.sohbet The Republicans continue to degenerate to outright falsehoods. What are we to do when the press will not intervene to set the record straight?Bedava mp3 indir How do we cope with maintaining an offense versus wasting time and messaging on spurious arguments?
