Only one mention of President Bush during last night’s RNC.

Last night, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Rudy Giuliani, and Gov. Sarah Palin addressed the Republican National Convention. Between the four of them, there was only one reference to President Bush — in Romney’s pre-prime-time speech. Romney praised “George Bush” for labeling “the terror-sponsor states the axis of evil.” On Tuesday night, Bush was never mentioned by the RNC speakers.

Update Ben Smith notes that Afghanistan hasn't been mentioned at all.

    Of course not, silly…

Everyone knows Bush is a Dem…

    Snark/off…

When your outgoing administration is in the running for worst ever and your nominee has no plan other than more of the same all you can do is ignore reality, blame the liberals and attack. Maybe it sparked the upper middle class white people in the convention hall but I can’t believe this will help with undecided voters. All I saw was Romney and Giuliani competing for the job of village idiot, Huckabee playing class clown and some Roseane Barr imitator nobody had ever heard of until last week shrieking about Obama not being qualified. It would have been funny if the stakes were not so high.

Everyone knows Bush is a Dem…

    And a lib’rul, don’t forget that.

  5. katy says:

this will get lost in the FAST thread, so here goes, here…

i get my mom’s TIME magazines after she reads them… this morning, it’s the aug 18 issue, with rick warren on the cover…
at the end of the warren article is a short piece, “In Their Words. The candidates on thir personal journeys of faith”.

    this is all BEFORE the so-called “forum”… remember mcLIAR’s cross-in-the-dirt-with-a-rifle-butt story? …
    well, here’s another version:

A month or so later, on Christmas Day, I was standing in the dirt courtyard when I saw that same guard approach me. He walked up and stood silently next to me, not looking or smiling at me. Then he used his sandaled foot to draw a cross in the dirt. We stood wordlessly looking at the cross, remembering the true light of Christmas, even in the darkness of a Vietnamese prison camp.

    just sayin’…

Well, the man certainly spends money like a drunken lib’rul on shore leave… no doubt about that…

The ‘Not Ready For Prime Time President’.

Looks like Romney didn’t get the memo.

    oh, and last night’s RNC?

it’s shameful how crass, vindictive and just plain mean
    some people are…

and that crowd just LOVED it…

  9. Angry McAngus says:

Of course, Bush the librul big spender and his gang of Democrats have been in charge of Washington for eight years, so McSame and Gov. Sarah represent “true reform”. I think I busted a rib laughing when they started pursuing that line.

I thought it had been pretty much pointed out McStain stole that story from Solzhenitsyn. ‘Course, McStain’s story, as told, also begs the question… why would a Vietnamese soldier even care about Christmas?

Why doesn’t the GOP say that just like the sitting president, Sarah Palin was the Governor of a large state full of oil rigs?

Right, ace. You must be referring to the majority of Americans who weren’t tuned into the RNC funeral — er, convention. Your vapid comment reminds me of the absolute best blog post I read last night from a guy who was tuned in to the U.S. Open:

“I confess that I didn’t think she was up to the challenge, but I underestimated her, she proved herself up to the task, so let me say in all crow-eating humility: Congratulations, Serena Williams!”

  20. stateofthedivision says:

If Repugnicants are going to talk about how bad Washington is, they can’t highlight their role in making it happen.

Thus keep Bush & Cheney off stage. That’s fine with the despicable duo as they have more war to make.

“Mickey/Adrian ‘08″ has zero chance of knocking Apollo Greed off K Street, especially after eight years of Bush supplied steroids.

I dont like ignorant hivemind trolls who I have seen ADMIT you only come here to annoy us. What kind of pathetic piece of garbage thinks its entertaining to come to a site just to annoy people? I understand that you know you are too stupid to actually have a conversation or talk rationally about these subjects. Still what kind of sick weasel is so desperate for attention that he just tosses out the ignorant bilge you do just to annoy actual adults trying to have an adult conversation. I suggest you leave your mommys basement and go play with the other special children. I am sure YOU are stupid even for the shortbus crowd but you can enjoy the outdoors and let the adults talk. When you see that bright yellow ball that brings light and warmth dont be afraid of it or worship it. Its just the Sun and we know all about it

  22. dareme says:

They were too busy dividing the country and avoiding getting into “the issues”.

  23. tom says:

As an Obama supporter, I have to say that I liked Failin’ Palin’s speech for several reasons:

    (1) she is such a sarcastic, screechy personality that she will be the brunt of talk show jokes (and should be)

    (2) she was so offensive, obnoxious and insulting that she is no longer “immunized” from criticism on the issues

    (3) she perpetuated the lies and myths about being the “reform ticket” so she furnished grist for the mill

    (4) she didn’t endear herself to the media (other than the right-wing radio rant-jockeys and FoxSnooze, I suppose)

    (5) she did absolutely nothing to counter the obvious fact that she is an inexperienced political opportunist

The door is now open to dispense all the chatter about her personal life and family issues. She is fatally vulnerable on the issues. Period.

They have already tried to say she was mayor of the 2nd largest town in Alaska. I bet that was a real surprise to the numerous towns in Alaska with a population larger than 6,500. I’m betting Wasilla is the 2nd smallest town in Alaska.

Countdown to Aceomalley8. Funny thing about this one, I don’t remember versions 1-7, do you? I think the new trolls are putting a high number next to their moniker just to impress us.

  30. hellinabucket says:

McCain’t can run but he can’t hide from Bush.

  31. A Patriot Acting says:

During the Dem primaries Palin did an interview with Newsweek in which she criticizes Hillary for her response to media scrutiny. Does the McCain camp have a leg to stand on when they criticize the media for reporting truths uncovered on this little known politician?
    http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/09/did-palin-call.html
Last night’s speech that Palin read was nothing short of devisive and bluntly partisan. Was this, the nation’s first look at the GOP VP candidate supposed to help us see their ticket as one of change for this Nation? McCain’s rhetoric of reaching across isles and bringing both sides together couldn’t possibly have been further from the spectacle of last night’s hatefest parade of failed Republican hacks. If the many stories floating around the inter-tubes bears any fruit we can look forward to the Straight Talk Express cruising of a cliff and bursting into flames well before November.
A small point: does anyone else think that hunting from a helicopter is slightly…dare I say…elitist?

  32. tarazan says:

There is so much made out of her speech last night by the media.
She has been practicing for the last two days to deliver the speech, she did not write the speech.
I do care about her record, and where she comes from and what change will she be making, for the best or the worst to this country and the world.
    Speeches are not enough.
You can hear nice words from used car salesman at the car lot, but unless you drive the car, look at the engine and check the milage of the car, then you can be fooled by just leaving it to the car salesman’s sweet words..

My apology on the link for post #35. I intended it to be only two words of the post, not the whole thing.

  35. stateofthedivision says:

Here it is without that irritating underline:

    ————————————————————–

While Sarah didn’t mention Republican incumbent President George W. Bush, she did invoke Democratic President Harry Truman. Bizarre, on so many levels.

She didn’t have Harry’s credibility in slamming her running mate’s “do nothing Congress”.

Sarah’s mention of torture was bizarre in light of Republican green lighting of similar treatment of prisoners in U.S. custody.

Finally, Harry had this to say of Palin’s party, “Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a Republican. But I repeat myself.”

  36. Robt says:

Something else that was apparently not mentioned.

Gov. Palin spoke out about corporate interests and lobbyists.

SHE NEVER MENTIONED HOW SHE FITS IN WITH THE McCAIN CAMPAIGN’S LOBBYIST FORCE RUNNING HIS CAMPAIGN..

Does Gov Palin have any views on clening up McCain’s camp top advising lobbyists on leave to run his campaign?

  37. youtube says:

This is an extremely important issue that Obama’s campaign and the Democrats must deal with during this campaign.sohbet The Republicans continue to degenerate to outright falsehoods. What are we to do when the press will not intervene to set the record straight?Bedava mp3 indir How do we cope with maintaining an offense versus wasting time and messaging on spurious arguments?
