In an interview with Investor’s Business Daily last July, Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) took issue with those who say that drilling for oil in the U.S. will not solve America’s energy problem. “I beg to disagree with any candidate who would say we can’t drill our way out of our problem,” Palin argued. Yet last night during her speech accepting the Republican nomination for Vice President, Palin mocked her “opponents” for reminding her that “drilling will not solve all of America’s energy problems” :
PALIN: Our opponents say, again and again, that drilling will not solve all of America’s energy problems – as if we all didn’t know that already. But the fact that drilling won’t solve every problem is no excuse to do nothing at all.
Watch it:
Its like she’s the mold of current hypocritical conservative!
I love that she’s the champion of the right and they don’t even know her. A month from now when she’s an embarrassment they’ll all have to stick to their ‘game changer’ bs. Though they proudly will, because we know intellectual acumen is not something to be admired.

September 4th, 2008 at 7:05 pmThis girl needs to pick a value and stick to it. Isn’t that why the Republicans nominated her? And her poor husband; a union member even though McCain hates unions? Oh, but he’s a Republican, so that’s alright. Whatever.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:05 pmJames Baker said much the same thing in his Energy report to Bush/Cheney early in their first term.
That’s why we have international misadventures in regions with lots of oil and state run oil companies. Cheney’s stirring the pot in Asia as Palin speaks.
Now, we need domestic misadventures because those recalcitrant Arabs in Iraq signed a $3 billion oil deal with China. Maybe the Persians will behave better…
September 4th, 2008 at 7:07 pmDid you send this to the Obama campaign to be added to their fact check document?

September 4th, 2008 at 7:15 pmI swear, this is right out of a Monty Python comedy sketch….
Which is why it is so freaking scary that there are people who not only take this person seriously, but actually go to amazing lengths to try and support her views.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:16 pmOh she’s so clever in a fargo sort of way.
So third grade, so counterproductive, so silly.
She should get out of Alaska some times.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:17 pmLast night, Palin said:
September 4th, 2008 at 7:26 pm“I told the Congress “thanks, but no thanks,” for that Bridge to Nowhere. If our state wanted a bridge, we’d build it ourselves.”
.
Notice that she didn’t say the “Bridge to Nowhere” was a bad idea. But she said that she would saddle the State of Alaska with funding it.
Of course, we all know she was for federal funding of the Bridge to Nowhere before she was against it.
OT: Sarah Palin scored huge viewership numbers for her speech, almost reaching those who saw Obama’s acceptance.
Does this mean she’s an evil “celebrity” and a neo-Nazi too?
September 4th, 2008 at 7:28 pmI’m not sure this edition of Northern exposure is going to work out well. Recall the Harry Truman Sarah invoked last night in her speech? He said:
Suppose you were an idiot. And suppose you were a Republican. But I repeat myself.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:29 pmWhat a commentary on how far America and her discourse have declined when someone like Palin could be considered for anything other than comic relief, much less such a vital position. Geezus, the rest of the world is laughing their collective @sses off at how far America has fallen.
After bush, it seems all bets are off and the republicans are trying to write the sequel to “Bonzo Goes To Washington.”
“Bonzo II: Knocked Up Meets Clueless.”
September 4th, 2008 at 7:32 pmFlip floppity flop.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:37 pmI have a question: the man in the video with the sign that says ‘Drill Now’…is he referring to Palin’s daughter?
The problem is that, when one’s worldview is based on self-delusion, one is incapable of discerning the difference between fact and fantasy.
I am quite certain that Ms. Palin really Believes she is truthful and consistent. And all the tapes and transcripts in the world won’t force her to realize she is neither.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:44 pmFirst of all, I thought I heard laughter when she said, “As if we didn’t all know that already.”
Second, “Take it from a gal who knows the North Slope of Alaska…”. Isn’t that a tad bit sexist? When Sen Clinton used words like that, didn’t the Republicans accuse her of “playing the gender card.”
Third, “But the fact that drilling won’t solve every problem is no excuse to do nothing at all.” The fact that putting a bullet in your head won’t cure a brain tumor is also no excuse to do nothing at all. But it doesn’t mean you pull the trigger anyway.
And who’s saying we want to do “nothing at all”? We want more investments into research for alternative fuels. I have an idea. Why don’t we pretend there is only one year’s worth of fossil fuels left on the planet, and see how fast we come up with alternative fuel sources.

September 4th, 2008 at 7:46 pmBut the fact that drilling won’t solve every problem is no excuse to do nothing at all.
And exactly who is proposing we do nothing at all? Obama? He has a very comprehensive plan on how we can meet our energy needs and in the process create new good-paying jobs in this country.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:48 pmLET’S GET REAL — SARAH PALIN IS IRRELEVANT
Assuming, for the sake of discussion, the best case scenario for McCain and he wins ALL the deeply red states and AK, AZ, TX, MO, IN, WV and GA, which he should do, and also the states of NV, MT, ND, SD, CO, VA, NC and NH, which he shouldn’t do, in order to reach 270 electoral votes he’d have to ALSO win either OH and PA or OH and FL or PA and FL. Go to the electoral-vote.com website and make a realistic evaluation. Anybody want to give me odds on McCain being able to do that?
September 4th, 2008 at 7:54 pmId est, sustainable energy.
September 4th, 2008 at 7:54 pm“I beg to disagree with any candidate who would say we can’t drill our way out of our problem,”
Everybody says we have 3-4% of the world’s energy and consume 25%. Is everybody but Palin wrong? Can we really just drill in Alaska and be energy independent?
Even if that fantasy were true—what about Global Warming? Some things are true whether you believe in them or not.
September 4th, 2008 at 8:08 pmWho is she suggesting said we do “nothing?” I’ve heard plenty of call for alternative energy and more fuel efficient cars. Just because we don’t want to drill more doesn’t mean we’re suggesting “nothing.”
September 4th, 2008 at 8:21 pmShe says “nothing” because she’s afraid she’ll lose her big OIL kickbacks.

Sir Kenneth Clarke in the boxing match fighting to keep his Professorship? Yeah, it’s funny, but it’s scary, too, since the boxer wins.
