Does Hagee think Todd Palin is ‘worse than an infidel’?»

On MSNBC this morning, McCain campaign spokesperson Tucker Bounds touted the fact that Todd Palin is a “stay-at-home-dad.” Interestingly, radical cleric and erstwhile McCain endorser Rev. John Hagee insists that, in the Lord’s eyes, a stay-at-home-dad is “a bum” who is “worse than an infidel.” “Hell is your future home,” Hagee says. Watch it:

I’m telling y’all, the Fundies aren’t going to like the specter of a macho man waving from the audience with a baby in his arms while his wife unleashes a can of whupa$$ from the podium. Just doesn’t jive with their “woman submits and obeys man” doctrine.

If Palin makes it to November 4th (highly doubtful, but maybe) the Fundies are going to stay home. If McStain is forced to replace Miss Wasilla, it better be with Huckleberry, or the Fundies are going to stay home. Put the Moron, er, Mormon Romney on the ticket, and it’s all over.

I hear the fat lady singing already.

Has anybody asked Phyllis Schlafly what her opinion is of Sarah Palin? After all, Schlafly has made a career out of telling women they shouldn’t have one. I wonder how she reconciles her ideology with the fact that Palin is the Governor of Alaska and her husband takes care of the kids?

MissMolly - will Dr. Laura do for you…?

    Sarah Palin and Motherhood

    September 2, 2008 on 1:35 pm

I am extremely disappointed in the choice of Sarah Palin as the Vice Presidential candidate of the Republican Party. I will still vote for Senator McCain, because I am very concerned about having a fundamental leftist, especially one who is a marvelous orator, as President.

At first, I thought it amusing that McCain picked a pretty, smart, and tough female to counter the racist/sexist accusations going back and forth between parties. I remember how Oprah Winfrey got caught in the cross-fire as she stepped up to the political table to support Obama with pride that a black man could rise to such heights in the USA, only to get slammed by feminists who told her it was gender, not race, that she should back. Understandably, Ms. Winfrey pulled back from it all.

Forget gender and race. I’m frankly and sadly caught in the dilemma of having to balance policy versus example in touting a candidate for the office of the First Family. I was ferociously attacked (what’s new?) when I spoke out strongly against Bill Clinton’s dalliances in the Oval Office. That situation quickly turned into a debate whether “private has anything to do with public.” Nonsense. Role models are very important. Children and young adults look to those who are visible and successful as a road map of what is acceptable behavior and emulate those actions over the morals and values their parents and churches have taught and tried to reinforce. It’s a tough go these days, when the “bad that men or women do” is used for entertainment purposes without judgment, or is excused because of political or financial considerations.

I’m stunned - couldn’t the Republican Party find one competent female with adult children to run for Vice President with McCain? I realize his advisors probably didn’t want a “mature” woman, as the Democrats keep harping on his age. But really, what kind of role model is a woman whose fifth child was recently born with a serious issue, Down Syndrome, and then goes back to the job of Governor within days of the birth?

Levi’s what Little Toddy was 29 years ago — an over-sexed adolescent high school jock who would impregnate his wife before he married her. Now that Levi has accomplished this task, I guess the only things that distinguish them is that Levi (1) doesn’t race snow-machines and (2) can’t grow scraggly facial hair yet.

It’s all well and good to take a stand, but you also have to be a realist. And you have to ask, what’s better for the country: Another 4 years of Bush via McCain/Palin? 4 years with Obama/Biden who may have made some disappointing moves but are still, overall, light years ahead of McCain/Palin? Or feeling good about yourself and not voting for Obama/Palin and running the risk of condemming the country for another 4 years of constitutional apathy and abuse of power?

  26. A Patriot Acting Says:

“Hell is your future home,” Hagee says.

  27. spencers mom Says:

  33. McWars Says:

    From spencers mom’s link:

My two parents are sitting home in Houston, Texas and they are both community organizers and the GOP and Sarah Palin might have well have said “being community organizers doesn’t matter” to my parents face. I’m disgusted. Community organizers keep people in their homes, keep their lights on, keep food in the fridge.

Ignorance is so much easier than taking the time to understand. Obama/Biden offers us the best mindset in a potential president, and we have one opportunity to elect him.

As progressives, having two seasoned senators on our ticket is fully consistent with our views. Republicans favor strong executive powers, and therefore want executive experience. They should keep those desires within their own party and not force them onto us, because we don’t mind lawmakers and academics going into executive service. Sometimes, when a person takes on something new, they tend to bring “fresh eyes” and the type of diligence that produces better results than the person who’s been in the game a long time and likely considers the job only an update on their resume. I think this is why president’s like JFK and Johnson (Great society minus Vietnam) were so notable in office.

You’ve seen the national interest in “executive experience” since the days of Ford’s presidency peak — current and former governors were routinely rejected during the primaries. Now we’re getting back to idealogues and entrusting the people who write the laws to move into the executive branch to enforce them.

Hagee, since you are such an old phuk, you can hold the door for me.

  38. Evil Spaniard Says:

“Does Hagee think Todd Palin is ‘worse than an infidel’?”

I don’t know, but I know that Haggis is worse than a chorizo*

    * Very hardly translatable and obscure joke: a haggis is a scottish traditional pudding made of the heart, liver, etc., of a sheep or calf, minced with suet and oatmeal, seasoned, and boiled in the stomach of the animal, while a chorizo is a pork sausage spiced with garlic, peppers, and juniper berries and smoked and dried. ‘Chorizo’ is also slang for lowlife thief in Spanish.

    I said it was obscure.

You can’t win, you can’t compete, you can’t touch on the needs of the American people, you can offer nothing realistic, so you feign success because the speech did a good job of throwing red meat at the small crowd — nothing more.

  42. A Patriot Acting Says:

    Tim43 Says: some bullshit

Maybe you don’t realize but Palin did not write her speech, dumbass. It was written by the usual GOP hacks. I found her speech and the entire night’s speeches actually to be pretty deisive for a party running on a platform of reaching across isles and national unity. Pretty lax on substance as well. Just what do the Republican’s plan to actually do for American’s? Other than further attempt to divide them, start more wars and further damage the economy, I mean. I didn’t hear any answers yesterday, just more of the usual mudslinging and faux patriotic bull shit that we’ve come to expect from a Republican party that owns nothing but shame for what they have done to this Nation.

  43. Uncle Fester Lurks Says:

Of course part of the McCain campaign strategy was to portray McCain/Palin as some new 21st century of Mr. Smith Goes To Washington, sadly for them and good for America this little ploy will not work.

As for the McCain campaign going after the big bad liberal media…give me a break. Wasn’t it Karl Rove who weeks ago attacked Governor Tim Kaine of Virginia who was a possible VP candidate, by saying he wasn’t qualified to be a VP and yet America is now suppose to believe that some how Sarah Palin is qualified to be the VP for McCain. How laughable is that and what hypocrisy!

Now we are hearing the cries of sexism from the right. Did anyone happen to read the slogans on any of the buttons people were wearing in the audience last night?

    “Our VP is a babe.”
“Our hot VP comes from the coolest State.”

How is this not seen as sexism by the hypocrites on the right like Hannity and O’Reilly? They sure love to dish it out but when they are hit back they all cry like 14 year old girls at a Backstreet Boys concert.

  44. Bilbo Hussein Baggins Says:

I have a question for any troll hanging around.

If Sarah Palin’s “executive experience” makes her qualified to be VP or President and since Obama doesn’t have “executive experience” he is not qualified, then how is McCain qualified. He has no “executive experience” either.

  46. Uncle Fester Lurks Says:

It will be ironic to wath the mean, vile strategy that the republicans are reknown for backfire this election year. While the speakers at democratic convention showed class asnd respect while pointing out the flaws of the republican party the republicans just showed America how dirty and mean spirited they really are with their over the top attacks and false accusations. Good bye GOP, America has grown tired of your brand of politics.

  47. spencers mom Says:

PALIN: But — now, here’s a little newsflash. Here’s a little newsflash for those reporters and commentators: I’m not going to Washington to seek their good opinion. I’m going to Washington to serve the people of this great country.”

And here’s a little newsflash for you, Miss Wasilla. When you bait a trap, you step out of it first.

  50. Max-1 Says:

    26 raynman,
granted, the Republicans and the Democrats are the two leading political Parties in America… I’ll give you that argument. In fact, I don’t argue that fact. What I argue is that tactic your using to COWER people into compromising THEIR personal principles… That’s all.

VOTE 3rd Party for REAL CHANGE!

    Remember:
FISA was undermined WITH Obama’s vote!

A Nation that throws it’s support behind wo/men who lead us in directions that are based NOT on Laws, but instead of whims, is NOT a Nation of Laws, but instead a Nation of wo/men. If Obama can win the Presidency, or McCain for that matter, and the current pResident and V.P. ARE NOT held to account for dishonoring the Offices of President and V.P. of the USA by the lack of will by the People, then whomever inherits these Offices will be free to continue, or not, the same course that has been laid before them; That the President of the USA CAN be a war criminal, CAN commit acts of TREASON, CAN order TORTURE, CAN usurp Congressional Legislation, CAN violate Constitutional Law and the People’s Bill of Rights… all with impunity.

I didn’t know that I CAN be President of the USA and BE a war criminal.
I didn’t know that I CAN be President of the USA and usurp Congress.
I didn’t know that I CAN be President of the USA and violate the Constitution.

This has been allowed to happen because of several reasons, including sheer apathy from the People who vote out of legacy and loyalty to a Party, even when it conflicts with personal values and American Principles. Remember, TORTURE happened because the “opposition Party” fell silent. Remember, warrantless was left immune because the “opposition Party” fell silent. Remember, lies to the American public to wag war on a Nation that NEVER attacked us or posed an imminent threat upon us was left by an “opposition Party” who stood and still stands silent!

What good is a so called “opposition Party” when they remain silent?

Good points. I think the right is truly where they want to be. All of the complaints about their conduct have only motivated them to veer further to the extreme right. Now, they’re thinned out, with moderate republicans mostly disgusted, and the party is securely made up of self-absorbed white people with “security” crews outside to rip on someone’s constitutional rights. They’re an exclusive, irrelevant club. The ‘exclusive’ part they love, but the ‘irrelevant’ part their brains haven’t absorbed just yet.

Also, did Romney and JulieAnnie believe half the crap they spouted, or did they make a valiant effort to convince themselves of the most extreme right-wing views and succeed?

  53. Uncle Fester Lurks Says:

I suspect the media’s brief showing of a spine in regards to McCain will once again disappear when they learn he will no longer give them access.

How incredible is this? For day after day, month after month Barack Obama has been under the media microscope, being questioned, attacked unmercifully and big tough war hero John McCain experiences 2-3 days of tough questions and he folds up into the fetal position. If McCain cannot deal with tough and legitimate questions from the media how in the hell can he deal with Russia, China, the Iraq war, Iran, our economy?

Buckie, Fred(Foghorn Leghorn) sounded like he was talking in the Democratic Convention the way he talked about the crowd of stiffies about them being taxed, and the way he said it was time to “grab the bureucratic government by the scruff of the neck,” was he saying, “don’t elect me?”

I would hardly call it “shredding” when the worst blows Giuliani and Palin could come up with were tired old canards about how Obama lacks experience (look who’s talking), scare tactics with absolutely no basis in fact about how Obama plans to allow terrorists to run rampant all over the country, out-and-out LIES about how Obama wants to raise everybody’s taxes, myth perpetuation about how Obama has no actual plans for anything, and Giulani’s incredible claim that Palin’s vast executive experience trumps that of all other candidates (neatly forgetting that one of those candidates is at the top of the GOP ticket).

That’s not shredding. That’s just repeating the same tired crap the right-wing have been enthusiastically eating up all along. There’s absolutely nothing new there, and what there was really doesn’t merit much of a response.

Although I admit that Romney’s speech was quite hilarious. He said, “We need change, all right — change from a liberal Washington to a conservative Washington! We have a prescription for every American who wants change in Washington — throw out the big-government liberals, and elect John McCain and Sarah Palin.”

Um…which “big-government liberals” does he think McCain and Palin would be replacing? I believe that would be Bush and Cheney, who are leaving anyway. And anybody who thinks he can convince ANYONE that Washington has been liberal for the past eight years is seriously delusional.

Any bets on whether the Repugs can fill the seats tonight? Haven’t done it yet.

Only if they invite the p[rotesters in, who outnumber the Republicans that actually showed up

Thank you, thank you, thank you for referring to Hagee as “radical cleric”. Rarely are Christian leaders referred to as clerics, usually I only hear that term in reference to Muslims. And yes, Hagee is about as radical as they come. His religious message bears little resemblance to those of the Prince of Peace.

I fear the same masses of IDIOTS who voted for the Chimp in 2000 & 2004 will also vote for McBush and Barbie McRapture come November.

  77. LibertyLover Says:

I wondered about that. These fundie types look poorly on something that isn’t the normal structure of the family with the man at the head. But it probably ok since she is Assemblies of God

Assemblies of God. I’m pretty sure that they don’t think of Catholics as Christian. Hmmm. Something to think about.

I’m sure all the Green Party followers who voted for Nader in 2000 are happy with standing for their principles and allowing Bush into the White House.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

I in no way regret my vote for Nader. The Dems picked holy Joe Lieberman to be VP for God sake. I live in Arizona. My electoral votes were already a done deal and I wanted to send the Dems a message that they have taken the vote of liberals like me for granted for too long. They snubbed us and disrespected us and you KNOW that is true. They acted like who cares what you think what are you going to do vote for a Repblican. Now I am not saying that if I lived in Florida or New Mexico I would have still voted for Nader but you Dems need to stop acting as if liberals like me OWE the Democratic party our vote. The only vote I waste is when I cast it on someone I dont believe in. I DO believe that keeping Bush out of the WH is a vote I could believe in but again I live in Arizona and my electoral votes were never in doubt at that time. AZ might become a fairly purple state soon if the demographics keep changing as thay have been but in 2000 nothing was going to stop Bush from taking the state. I dont think Gore wasted much time campaigning here.

You are such a sad and delusional wingnut. A great speech? Please stop, you are making my stomach hurt. What you saw from OBAMA was a great speech what you saw from Palin was a series of whining attacks and a speech long snivelfest. Only on Planet wingnut could you comapare Obamas speech and Palins and talk about a knockout punch from anyone other than Obama. Back away from the kool-aid. It destroys braincells and if you lose one more you are a talking monkey

Obama WROTE HIS OWN SPEECH IGNORAMUS.
    http://www.usatoday.com/ news/ politics/ election2008/ 2008-08-26-obama-cover_N.htm

For the speech he’ll give Thursday to accept the Democratic nomination for president, Obama wrote into the night last weekend in a hotel room 15 minutes from his Chicago home. There were no distractions there. And in 2004 he had holed up at a hotel to draft the wildly successful convention speech that catapulted him into national politics.

Kerry wrote his own speech too. You are too ignorant to be believed
