Media Matters reports:
During their September 2 and September 3 coverage of the Republican National Convention, MSNBC, CNN, and Fox News each dedicated more on-air time — significantly more in most cases — to speeches and other official Republican convention programming during the most-watched portions of their coverage than each channel dedicated to official convention programming during the same times on comparable nights of the Democratic National Convention one week earlier.
My local CBS affiliate carried the Dallas Cowboys game over Barack Obama's speech. Last night, John McCain was front and center on that same network. Fair and balanced? Hardly...
September 5th, 2008 at 3:44 pmThat's why I watched Cspan!
September 5th, 2008 at 3:45 pmI'll bet no one could have anticipated that something like that could happen.
September 5th, 2008 at 3:45 pmCan you say: "corporate media" ?

- - Well, yeah. The MSM loves to cover police car chases, freak shows or a train wreck.
September 5th, 2008 at 3:46 pmHell thats why I don't watch any of them. The truth comes through.
September 5th, 2008 at 3:46 pmGood.
More people saw McCain make an utter fool of himself.
September 5th, 2008 at 3:48 pmCurses that darn liberal media AGAIN
September 5th, 2008 at 3:48 pmAnyone who sat there last night listening to McBush drone on and on and thought, yes, that's who I want to be my President, is seriously in need of mental health care.

Well, the Cowboys are 'America's Team', right? Besides it was the last preseason game, and that's make or break for everyone who played. Someone like Obama accepting the nom for prez: practically happens every other week.

Back to the Enquirer's contention that Sarah Palin had an affair with her husband's business partner:
http://mudflats.wordpress.com/
September 5th, 2008 at 3:52 pmsurprise surprise...oh wait, no it's not.
Can you imagine if this were reversed? We'd never hear the end of it on all these very media outlets. "Obama gets undue amounts of coverage," "Well of course he does, he's a celebrity" etc etc on and on.
Same goes for the Palin Pregnancy. If Barack Obama or Joe Biden had a teenage daughter that got pregnant, we'd never hear the end of it from these same people who are crying "sexist!" and "Private matter!" every time someone brings it up about Palin.
September 5th, 2008 at 3:53 pmWell then, the Republicans can't complain that their "message" wasn't heard as much as the Democrats can.
September 5th, 2008 at 3:54 pmThat's funny!!! More coverage and less viewers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
September 5th, 2008 at 3:55 pmwhodduthunkit...
September 5th, 2008 at 3:59 pmThat darn "liberal" media. Any reich-wingers that really believe that liberal media crap, please contact me- I have some beautiful ocean front property in Lubbock, Texas to sell you.
September 5th, 2008 at 4:00 pmDamn the Librul media!
September 5th, 2008 at 4:00 pmSickening, this is what the Telco act of '96 has done.Made Americans less informed by cable news. This has to change, our democracy has been in danger since 2000.
September 5th, 2008 at 4:01 pmI swear the media has battered wife syndrome. Conservatives are constantly abusing them and they are constantly running after them saying "but I love you"
At some point they'll kiss and make up.Conservatives will promise it won't happen again the media will be more supportive than ever then Conservatives will get mad beat the shit out of media again and the cycle starts anew.
September 5th, 2008 at 4:02 pmOf little consequence. The numbers that matter are the number of viewers, not the number of hours telecast. Surprising, or not so, is that I have seen nothing concerning the viewers of the RNC circle jerk. I suspect it will fall short of the multimillions that watch Obama by several orders of magnitude. If indeed they are ever published.
September 5th, 2008 at 4:09 pmRight... last Tue. I tuned into CNN and they showed John Legend's entire performance, then, as soon as a speaker came up to the stage, they cut away to the commentators for the whole thing. Then I remembered that dish network had an entire channel dedicated to un-cut footage of the convention. I only flipped back to the networks and kept getting the distinct image of vultures picking and fighting over tiny scraps with the intention of shaping opinion.
It was literally repulsive.
September 5th, 2008 at 4:11 pmAnd today they're acting like Sarah is getting a huge response in Wisconsin when Biden is getting much bigger cheers where ever he is. Nobody is talking about it but Biden is kicking a$$ talking about what he didn't hear at the Republican convention.
September 5th, 2008 at 4:11 pmActually, the Repubs had one less day because they were afraid of Gustav, so I don't have a problem with it.
What I don't like is the blatant acceptance of the Repub lies and never calling them on it. For example, Kelly O'Donnell talking about how John McCain doesn't like to talk about being a POW.
September 5th, 2008 at 4:16 pmAnd they still didn't get me to turn to them. The more garbage they present, the less I watch.
September 5th, 2008 at 4:19 pmGee Bilbo re. the "Edwards problem" Todd has, maybe the baby is his but not Sarah's. Maybe the mother was the one in labor and leaking amniotic fluid when Sarah flew home from Texas. The thick plottens.
September 5th, 2008 at 4:21 pmI guess those "liberal" media just wanted to show the repukes as the liars that they are......right? Right?
Liberal media my butt.
September 5th, 2008 at 4:22 pmoh, boo hoo. Of all the things to complain about, this is among the lamest.
It probably wouldn't have happened but for mcsame's choice of the rootin' tootin' wild moose shootin' book bannin' mayor of the toughest lil' town west of the pecos.
I'll give slappy his due, he picked a running mate that introduced some novelty into his moribund campaign; he knew that would draw the networks like flies to sh*t.
September 5th, 2008 at 4:23 pmToday one of the McCain staffers was on MSNBC talking about how they don't expect to be treated fairly by the liberal media. Give me a break.
September 5th, 2008 at 4:25 pmMy local fox broadcast station showed their usual programming
September 5th, 2008 at 4:27 pmduring the democratic convention, no coverage whatsoever. Last night however they interrupted their programming with a special fox news update/special and covered mccain's speech and intro. complete with chyrons/captions seemingly written by mccain's campaign staff. Unfair and Unbalanced indeed!
Spin away elite liberal media, spin away!
Just because there is video evidence of this, do you expect the nation to believe you? You are the elite liberal media!
Why do you elite liberal media folk always focus on truths anyway. You liberals are so damned funny, always talking about:
McCain changed his position on this, McCain changed his position on that!
Or
McCain is lying about his and Obama's tax plans. McCain won't explain how shipping jobs overseas creates more jobs in the U.S. McCain won't explain how drilling for more oil will make us less dependent on OIL! How a free market healthcare system will bring the cost down for individuals when all evidence points to the contrary.
Meanwhile, we just keep spreadin the manure. Tell 'em whatever they want to hear and wrap it up in a big 'ol American Flag - and win the election!
September 5th, 2008 at 4:31 pmIt's not quantity, it's quality. They could have broadcast every single minute of the RNC and it still would have been a flop.
PEACE
September 5th, 2008 at 4:33 pmEven the possibly illegal promotion of the Freak Show better known as the GOP will not be enough to throw the election their way. People are waking up to how screwed they are thanks to the GOP.
September 5th, 2008 at 4:41 pm.
... Because chants of USA! USA! USA! carry more weight when chanted by Loyal Nationalists broadcast by Loyal Corporate lapdogs.

Thanks for the link. It is apparent to me that Alaska's Legislature is more effectual than our Federal one. Perhaps Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid should take note.

Be sure to bookmark that link. This guy is really on top of what is happening in Alaska. It's interesting to read all this from the perspective of someone who lives there.
September 5th, 2008 at 5:00 pmTwo young politicians with little experience:
One steps forward, declares hi candidacy, steps before the people and runs a long, hard-fought campaign, where every possible wart is shown to the public, down to his wife's college thesis.
He wins a majority of the votes, and receives the nomination of president with a magnificent speech that has his bitter enemies conceding how good it was.
The other is chosen by a very rich old white guy as complete surprise. When her background is explored and her merits weighed, the party starts to howl that such examination and questions are partisan sexist attacks. She gives a mediocre speech at the convention and is spirited away to be prepped for her public appearances.
Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you the Democratic and Republican parties.

Very well-written, funny and he's got a great eye. As a blog writer, he couldn't have asked for a better prize to drop from the sky than Palin's nomination, though. Nice to know someone found a pony in the pile.
September 5th, 2008 at 5:21 pmYet more proof the Repubs are talking garbage every time they whine (which is on a daily basis) about so-called librul media. What a crock-- the media gives more time & is kinder to Repubs all the time. It's as if they are afraid of them-- and no wonder the way Repubs smear & attack anyone who dares to ask them tough questions. Plus the media panders to their whining-- e.g. they whine Obama is getting too much attention, so the media buckles to the lie & provides not only way more attention, but easier questions (if any) to the whiny, elitist Repubs. Very sad.
September 5th, 2008 at 5:54 pmWe all have to look at what direction C-Span is going also. It is financed by the cable companies. The Washington Journal has had more conservative guests and "experts" making comments on all aspects of this campaign. Every "CON"servative
September 5th, 2008 at 8:54 pminstitute has had their persons on and the C-span hosts are truely showing their "leaning".
Listen I have enough to be pissed about w/o the so-called "cable news/network news". They are strictly for entertainment and apparently the public prefers them over the real stuff.
September 6th, 2008 at 12:25 pmC-SPAN no commercials, no spin doctors, no talking heads.
Too boring for you?
