Putting Sarah Palin in front of the media to answer actual questions would put the real Sarah Palin (earmarker, investigation dodger, fiscally problematic as mayor, vindictavewoman) at odds with the Mythical Sarah Palin (reformer, experienced, tax cutter, superwoman) narrative they are trying to create.

They will fight unscripted/unchoreographed appearances the entire way.

The longer she stays secluded the more wary the public will become, particularly with Obama and Biden out there in the public. It’s a terribly foolish (but likely necessary) ploy. I mean, after 19 months and 19 debates, people were, “well I just don’t know Obama.” Do you think this seclusion away from the press with so many unanswered questions will play well. Every day that she is not being interviewed is another day the opposition will define her.

She may take some questions from local news entities in Alaska, but until she’s ready — and until she’s comfortable — which might not be for a long while — the media will have to wait.

The interview that John McCain took exception to had nothing to do with how his spokeman was treated; he’s just using it as his excuse because he knows that Sarah Palin IS NOT ready to be VP on Day One! He has to have Joe Lieberman teach her about the Middle East?? He has to have his staff make sure she’s on the same page with McCain before she faces the press? That’s SO funny! Imagine the hue and cry if Barack Obama told everyone Joe Biden wouldn’t be available for interviews until he’s brought up to speed.

If she’s such a prepared Republican, why doesn’t she already know what John McCain believes and stands for? He “hired” her to be the pitbull that goes after Sen Obama and nothing more. Nope; she not ready.
