Tom Ridge calls McCain ‘John Bush.’»

Speaking with NBC reporters last night, former Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge tried to say that voters would not confuse John McCain’s policies with President Bush’s. Unfortunately, Ridge himself confused the two, calling McCain “John Bush.” Watch it:

That was actually a pretty honest statement. A rarity in Republican politics lately….

  2. Badmoodman Says:

It was predictable. What amazed me was that not one GOP speaker “accidentally” or otherwise called Obama, “Osama.”

Btw, notice how Chris Matthews prefers calling him Barack, and not Obama. Matthews’ synapses get verklempt and he’s come close to calling Barack, “Osama.”

a bit off topic, but this is the funniest McCain speech story I’ve seen:

What would George W. McCain do?

  6. krazeeinjun Says:

    John Bush! Muahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah!! Hee hee.

    Just saying . . .

  7. misshusseinmolly Says:

Well, that goes hand in hand with “Sarah Pawlenty”.

  8. krazeeinjun Says:

What a team — John Bush and Sarah Pawlenty.

    Just saying . . .

  9. krazeeinjun Says:

Darn — u beat me to molly. N1.

That’s so funny. John Bush, George McCain, same difference. It’s an understandable slip, but too bad (for him) it came at that time. I laughed out loud a few times last night. I couldn’t help it with the canned applause that wasn’t always timed right and the whole idea of change coming from the status quo.

A follow up to Miatch’s off topic contribution:

If the McCain camp purposefully used this building, we have entered a Brave New World.

  12. misshusseinmolly Says:

When Jimmy Carter said “Hubert Horatio Hornblower” during the 1980 convention, I laughed. But this one is far funnier because it’s Freudian. And the fact that Ridge made the slip while he was talking about not confusing the two is just icing on the cake.

You can’t make this stuff up…

it’s like ridge let go a little truth fart: embarrassing, and everybody can smell it.

  14. citizen_pain Says:

Slightly off thread, but did anyone notice what was absent during McCain’s speech (along with substance, vision, character and integrity of course)?

HE WASN’T WEARING A LAPEL FLAG PIN!

    AHHHHHH!

And that finger pointing… is that his version of a terrorist fist jab?

    AHHHHHH!

they can’t get their stories straight (they used old, old file footage from WWI (if it weren’t for digital technology the people would be walking like charlie chaplin.) the repugs mushed in my face bs (pow, chimpy’s sept disaters (CSDs) (no year given and 1980s words for white moms to no end. their “bad guys” and their good-bad guys, what a tired out-dated shame they are and have been.

I see something very wrong with a vp who has on her vp resume , pta mother. pta doesn’t go with wmd.

Tom, Tom, you got something right, finally.
Congratulations, you can now retire back into the oblivion you deserve.

  19. RUCerious Says:

GOL, there was a blurb this morning about one part of the McIIIrd video, where they used actors for soldiers in the video. Wait till this gets some teeth. More hypocrisy and BS from the ReBumblicans.

  20. the east beast Says:

Hey Tom, your Freudian slip is showing.

  21. normalasf Says:

  22. normalasf Says:

What’s the definition of a Freudian slip?

When you say one thing but mean your mother.

    :)

  23. trollsbwild Says:

I always regarded Tom Ridge as being a straight shooter. He would have been a much better choice for VP than Sarah. too bad the far right do not approve of him becuase of being pro-choice.

  26. CitizenGeek Says:

That’s probably the most hilarious Freudian slip ever.

  27. wizard2000 Says:

Ridge must have read some of my recent comments.

(Well, I said it first, and it is obvious Ridge is also having a difficult time telling Bush and McCain apart):

George W. McCain and John Bush.

Er, George McCain and John W. Bush.

Rats, I have a hard time telling these two Republicans apart.

(…just like Ridge, and no doubt a whole lot of other people, I now learn).

  28. SKdeA Says:

    Hell, that was Freudian panties…
