Since accepting Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) offer to be his running mate, Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) has lied about her supposed opposition to the Bridge to Nowhere in nearly every single campaign appearance:
Palin claimed she “championed reform of earmark spending by Congress, and I told the Congress thanks but no thanks on that ‘Bridge to Nowhere,’” she said, ommiting [sic] mention that she’d campaigned for governor supporting the bridge. [Albuquerque, NM, 9/6/08]
PALIN: And I’ve championed reform to end the abuses of earmark spending by Congress. In fact, I told Congress thanks, but no thanks, on that “Bridge to Nowhere.” [Dayton, OH, 8/29/08]
PALIN: I told the Congress “thanks, but no thanks,” for that Bridge to Nowhere. [St. Paul, MN, 9/3/08]
This is demonstrably false. Campaigning for governor, Palin visited the town of Ketchikan to promise action on the bridge. She “said the bridge was essential for the town’s prosperity,” and that “she could feel the town’s pain at being derided as a ‘nowhere’ by prominent politicians.” She said the time to secure the funding was now, “while our congressional delegation is in a strong position to assist.”
Today on Fox News Sunday, host Chris Wallace tried to pin down a straight answer on Palin’s bridge position from McCain campaign manager Rick Davis. When Davis refused to acknowledge Palin’s misleading statements, Wallace detailed her support for millions of dollars in earmarks, including the bridge:
WALLACE: During her 1.5, 2 years as Governor, Alaska continued to get more federal money for pork-barrel projects per capita than any state in the country and…she supported the Bridge to Nowhere. And it was only after the federal government dropped it out, killed it, the Congress killed it that she then opposed it. And in fact she still got the money for the approach, the ramp to the Bridge to Nowhere.
Watch it:
Well, I'm glad to see someone is pointing out that Palin is "distorting reality" (to put it benevolently).
September 7th, 2008 at 11:16 amoh boy, when we hold up the lying liar chris wallace as an outstanding example of journalism, we are in trouble.
Granted, he did stand up here, but not to palin, to a campaign spokesperson - relatively unimportant. Course they won't let her talk.
Perhaps this is the best we can expect from MSM, but we need to do what we can to hold these folks accountable for continuing to ask probing questions and, yes, we need to acknowledge when they do it.
Coming from chris, its a rare moment indeed.
September 7th, 2008 at 11:16 amI suppose this might make one suspicious of her vast foreign policy experience what with its foundations being fish and proximity
September 7th, 2008 at 11:19 amI think I'm gonna faint - a talking head actually bothered to fact check, and then use those facts to reveal a Conservative has been dishonest!
Chris, there might be some of your father's integrity somewhere inside of you trying to turn you into a real journalist yet... Don't fight it!
September 7th, 2008 at 11:27 amThese PR people really understand lying and marketing to the people who will buy into their bs. The thing you can always count on when some encounters a con with facts is loud talk and talking over one another. They refuse to have discussions and believe the one who is more successful in talking over the other is right. What a bunch of fools and I ask what that makes the folks who support them. I refuse to even respect Rick Davis, John McSame, or the foul mouthed sequestered Sarah.
September 7th, 2008 at 11:29 amChris, there might be some of your father’s integrity somewhere inside of you trying to turn you into a real journalist yet… Don’t fight it!
That's right, Chris. Don't fight that urge to do real journalism. Sure, it will probably cost you your job at Fox, but if you start acting like a real journalist, another network might just hire you.
September 7th, 2008 at 11:30 amWow... ya think even Faux News is tired of getting played by the Palin-McSame campaign and they're now pushing back?
Can it be that even Chris Wallace is fed up with being played for a fool?

Bush may be going. But the religious right is fighting fit
And now we have what the repubs were disparaging in Obama just a week ago....celebrity.....brittney spears in the form of xena the christain crusader. That's it, that's all she's got.
September 7th, 2008 at 11:35 amIt appears that both GOPig candidates are useless senile scum.
September 7th, 2008 at 11:38 amYou know, I wonder if all the media slamming that both McCain and Palin have been doing is coming back to bite them a bit here?
Sure, the Corporate Pigs who own the media want to see Republican Fascists in charge, so they can get even bigger tax cuts and loopholes (though I don't see why they complain about their current 0%)... But I can't help but wonder if defending their fragile egos are more compelling than money sometimes - to the point that the constant trash-talk from the McCain camp is going to make the talking heads angry enough to focus on assuaging their bruised egos with some old fashioned hard ball tactics?
September 7th, 2008 at 11:43 amHey! She is a woman hence questioning her is verboten She can claim her family as a tool for getting elected but not answer for her decisions about it. She is allowed to lie and not be questioned about it. Damn it's even better than being a POW cause before this is over mark my words she will burst into tears as a defense
September 7th, 2008 at 11:43 amWayne @ #2-
Like your post a lot, but let's not keep with the soft & charitable descriptions of what the Republican Prez/VP candidates are doing. Let's start calling it, loudly & repeatedly, what it actually is (listen up Obama-Biden & Dems in general):
It's called in the real world...
LYING, LYING, LYING, LYING, not "misspeaking" or other cute euphemisms.
Average American voters risk getting fired for doing it to describe our job qualifications & resume. If Rachel Maddow can call them on this, so can Obama/Biden & their spokes-subs.
Time for hardball. Rove's hardball tactic- this repeated lying until it's called truth by the MSM, will make us lose in the next 60 days. Letting Rove's game plan for John McBush get the upper hand= lose this election.
September 7th, 2008 at 11:44 amWoah! Chris Wallace actually grew some? Holy cow!
September 7th, 2008 at 11:45 amWe will see - in the end, chris is likely to continue to "catapult the propaganda" for mclame, just like he has promoted the lies of the current criminal cabal in the White House.
What motivated him to do this, only he knows.
Let's be clear - the MSM has become very savvy at promoting contradictory talking points and lies. In fact, this is probably an important part of their strategy.
They bombard us with an endless series of scandals and lies, often presenting different versions of each. The typical faux news viewer will just think this is "fair and balanced", but it will not change their views/opinions.
This, in turn, is what will enable the likes of wallace to "catapult" more of the propaganda.
I hope I am wrong, but, respectfully, it is far to early to even think that today's exchange indicates we will see any change in this fall's election coverage.
September 7th, 2008 at 11:45 amdbadass Says: I haven’t read it but I wanted to also mention. Primates and Philosophers: How Morality Evolved. I have heard some good things but like I said I haven’t actually read that one
Cool - thanks. I like that kind of stuff. I find it helps me understand humans far better than any of the traditional explanations. Am also intrigued by the field of 'Behavioral Genetics', which I read is the emerging 'nature' side of Psychology, which has so long focused primarily on 'nurture'.
There is still so much to learn about who we are. Very interesting.
September 7th, 2008 at 11:46 amFred Says: The Economist put McCain and Obama on its cover and declared, ‘This is the most impressive choice America has had for a very long time.’
That's interesting... I was in Europe during the 1998 Lewinsky sex scandal and the Europeans were defending Clinton, not just as a man, but as a great President.
Perhaps the Bush Reign just seems like a very long time to the rest of the world too? :)
September 7th, 2008 at 11:49 amPerhaps this suggests a means to dismantle some of the "rock star"-style Palin worship: If the McCain campaign continues to shield her from direct questioning, then relentlessly question the McShame lobbyists ((i.e., campaign aides) about Palin's statements. Then, after exposing her fraudulent claims and shady past practices (and hopefully pointing out the Cheny-like cronyism that would define a Palin V-Presidency), emphasize that , despite all her big-sounding bluster (which the right-wing Hypocrites would call "shrill" if Hillary was saying it), she doesn't even have the courage to answer for herself, but lets others do it for her. Then stand her up in front of a real journalist (if there are enough left that this is even possible) and let her take the heat.
I hope the media quits allowing the McSame campaign to harp on the straw-men non-issues like her "inexperience" and her daughter, etc). I mean, there are enough really serious reasons to keep her farther from the WH than she can shoot with one of her beloved high-powered rifles (not that guns are bad, just that she has highlighted her love of them so much).
One thing that could derail her from her self-promotion via cultural background is talking about things that really affect most people's lives every day, like health care, competent governing/ethics/public accountability, job-creation, fair taxation, individual rights (for everyone, not just the privileged few), independence from oil companies (which are all foreign, to most of us, and who don't support our nation in any real way, like paying their fair share of taxes), etc.
September 7th, 2008 at 11:51 amIn other news, Hell freezes over.
September 7th, 2008 at 11:52 amAnother Joe Says: What motivated him to do this, only he knows.
Campbell Brown has been getting a lot of attention for calling out one of McCain's lackeys who refused to tell her just one of Palin's acts as 'Commander" of the Alaska National Guard, so perhaps he's trying for his own attention? You know now muc the talking heads like attention (ratings).
September 7th, 2008 at 11:53 amI find it VERY interesting that it was Fox that called them on this lie. I'm wondering if Fox realizes that Palin will end up being poison and if they will try to undercut her now so she will drop out.
I think that the DNC or Obama needs to do an ad right now. It should say "Who is Sarah Palin", and then list all her hard right views like teaching creationism in schools, no abortion for rape or incest, abstinence only in schools, overturn roe v. wade, etc.
If 54% of the people in this country have a favorable opinion of Sarah Palin it's because they don't know who she is and what she stands for.
The Obama campaign also still needs to do a "What does McCain believe in" ad showing all his flips on major issues. For the life of me I can't understand why they haven't done this already.
The fact that Obama still hasn't taken the gloves off worries me.

September 7th, 2008 at 11:54 amSo where is the media's non-stop coverage of this story?
Palin's Pastor: God "Is Gonna Strike Out His Hand Against" America
On July 20, 2008, the pastor of Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin's home church, Larry Kroon, delivered a sermon called "Sin Is Personal To God." Kroon, the senior pastor of the non-denominational Wasilla Bible Church in Wasilla, Alaska, used the book of Zephanaiah as his reference point for discussing "that great day of the Lord when God will finally bring closure to human history... a day of wrath." According to Kroon, "all things and all people" are going to bear the brunt of God's "intense anger." "There's anger with God," he proclaimed. "He takes sin personal."

I think it would be great if the Democrats came out with a "rock star" video of their own. Show Sarah Palin in front of the adoring crowds and then show Obama in front of 50,000 people and say "rock stars for President". Then show Obama's resume vs Ms. Palin's resume and say, "Which rock star do you want to be the President".

If that interview had been with a Democrat, Wallace would never have let him talk as long as he did without interruption or real response. Wallace is polishing up his tough guy interviewer image ("See, we're fair and balanced!") while letting the Republican spokesman do most of the talking and framing the discussion completely.
I don't buy it for a minute.

I think it's just typical average American 'new is good' syndrome. We do it with anything and everything new - we love it simply because it's new, but give us two weeks and we lose interest for the next new thing. Often, we develop a sense of contempt for the stuff we used to love that we find out lied to us. Just look at how America loves to hate once-bloved celebrities like Brittny Spears...

September 7th, 2008 at 12:03 pmBilbo Hussein Baggins Says: Where’s that “liberal media” when you need them? ***crickets***
I watched Obama's discussion with the AARP crowd yesterday on CSPAN, and then tried to watch McCain's. I couldn't get past McCain's sophorific butt-kissing, and blathering lies, and had to shut it off. He actually said that social security was broken and is going to run out soon. Yet, not one media outlet bothered to call him out. He systematically repeats that crap, unchallenged, and then has the nerve to call the MSM 'liberal'.
Wake up America!
September 7th, 2008 at 12:09 pmPalin's just like Phyllis Shitfly, only younger, with bigger tits.
Or as Gloria Steinem said recently in an editorial in the LA Times:
September 7th, 2008 at 12:09 pm
It should be Sarah Palin on the program, not Rick Davis! Palin cannot be allowed to continue to stonewall the press. Keeping her sequestered from reporters is really keeping her sequestered from the people.
The Palin Watch is clock that is counting the time from Palin's selection as McCain's running mate until her first meeting with the press.
September 7th, 2008 at 12:10 pmFargo Sarah can always say that she said thanks before she said no thanks.
So maybe not technically a lie.

September 7th, 2008 at 12:12 pmThe problem with the bridge to nowhere is that they were getting a lot of federal funds for a very local project.
We recently built a new Tacoma Narrows bridge for $735 million. This bridge is being paid for using $39 million of state money, no federal money, and the rest made up through a toll. In the first year the toll has gone up from $3 to $4 and is projected to rise as high as $9 over the next decade. The bridge carries over a million cars a day. It won't be paid off until about 2030.
We built this critical piece of infrastructure using our own money. We pay every time we go across it. Some people cross the bridge two or more times per day since they work and live on either side. I cross it once or twice a week. $200 million in federal dollars would have had a big impact on the toll and the total financed amount on the bridge.
If we're going to dole out federal money I would like to see the projects go through a process of vetting where it can be determined whether our tax dollars are being spent in the most beneficial way possible. Giving $200 million to an area with crippling traffic and millions of bridge users just seems more important than giving $200 million to an area with an inexpensive ferry and only thousands (if that many) of daily users.
September 7th, 2008 at 12:12 pmI'm worried that Sarah Palin will continue to suck the air out of the room by talking - or not talking to the media and the low-info voters will vote for McP because "she's like them". The GOP goal is the same as it was in 2000 and 2004 - go for a tie and steal the victory.
September 7th, 2008 at 12:12 pmAs far as Obama fighting back goes, he's a poker player who has a strategy. A little rope-a-dope, let the other side make fools of themselves, then drop the straight flush on the table at the right moment. McCain's s craps player. Craps is all luck, no skill, and a willingness to take large risks
I have written, variously, in different venues, Sarah Palin's nomination is the political equivalent of cops taking a you, a prisoner, into the shitter and raping you with a plunger-handle because they don't have the evidence to hold you, but really want to phuck you up.
September 7th, 2008 at 12:15 pmShe has more "gates" than all of McCain's houses do.
September 7th, 2008 at 12:20 pmRight now she is a cash cow for McCain and after the

The corruption just keeps getting deeper:
Palin used state funds for trip to speak at her former church
ANCHORAGE — Gov. Sarah Palin used state funds in June when she traveled from Juneau to Wasilla to speak to graduating evangelical students and urge them to fan out through Alaska "to make sure God’s will be done here."
State records show that Palin submitted a travel authorization for a quick round-trip visit to attend the June 8 graduation of the Master's Commission program at the Wasilla Assembly of God, the church where she was baptized at age 12. The only other item on the agenda for that trip was a "One Lord Sunday" service involving a network of Mat-Su Christian churches earlier that morning at the Wasilla sports complex.
The records show Palin flew from Juneau to Anchorage on Saturday, June 7. She returned to Juneau that Monday afternoon. The plane tickets cost the state $519.50, and she claimed an additional $120 for meals and other expenses.
Palin couldn't be reached for comment Friday as she campaigned for vice president. Her spokeswoman at the McCain campaign said she wouldn't grant an interview.

I have repeated elsewhere, ad nauseam, in the Corporate State, corporate media are State media. The CorpoRat media are not permitted to call bullshit on the preferred CorpoRat candidate (although both of the current pair are solidly pro-CorpoRat). They may only report when/if the "opponents" of the speaker call bullshit, and even then, they have to get a reply from the offending party...

September 7th, 2008 at 12:27 pmIt's nice to see a chink in the fictional narrative of the McCain/Palin brand on FOX News. Roger Ailes must see the handwriting on the wall and want his network to have relevance after the November elections.
As for the dog food Republican brand, John's shuffling wore out the soles of his Maverick boots years ago. Palin might as well be Disney's Alaskan Princess. In no way, does her record support the fiction. She's a hologram that can't even meet with the media.
September 7th, 2008 at 12:27 pm9-/2 days since palen entered the race and no interviews allowed by mccain campaign.
Even if you consider that she might be taking a crash course what does that do to instill confidence that she is or ever has or ever will be ready to lead?

September 7th, 2008 at 12:30 pmMy take on Fox pointing this out is that they are hedging their bets on this election and they can't afford to ignore the many falsehoods that Mrs. Palin has pushed. They are looking to the future where the neocon agenda is the minority and they can't whine and complain about the Obama administration instead of having to report on the dismal failure an extenuation of the Bush administration would be if McCain't and Failin were elected.
September 7th, 2008 at 12:32 pmABOUT SARAH PALIN
I am a resident of Wasilla, Alaska. I have known Sarah since 1992. Everyone here knows Sarah, so it is nothing special to say we are on a first-name basis. Our children have attended the same schools. Her father was my child's favorite substitute teacher. I also am on a first name basis with her parents and mother-in-law. I attended more City Council meetings during her administration than about 99% of the
residents of the city.
[...]
During her mayoral administration most of the actual work of running
this small city was turned over to an administrator. She had been
pushed to hire this administrator by party power-brokers after she had
gotten herself into some trouble over precipitous firings which had
given rise to a recall campaign.
Sarah campaigned in Wasilla as a “fiscal conservative”. During her 6
years as Mayor, she increased general government expenditures by over
33%. During those same 6 years the amount of taxes collected by the
City increased by 38%. This was during a period of low inflation
(1996-2002). She reduced progressive property taxes and increased a
regressive sales tax which taxed even food. The tax cuts that she
promoted benefited large corporate property owners way more than they
benefited residents.
The huge increases in tax revenues during her mayoral administration
weren’t enough to fund everything on her wish list though, borrowed
money was needed, too. She inherited a city with zero debt, but left it
with indebtedness of over $22 million. What did Mayor Palin encourage
the voters to borrow money for? Was it the infrastructure that she said
she supported? The sewage treatment plant that the city lacked? or a
new library? No. $1m for a park. $15m-plus for construction of a
multi-use sports complex which she rushed through to build on a piece
of property that the City didn’t even have clear title to, that was
still in litigation 7 yrs later--to the delight of the lawyers
involved! The sports complex itself is a nice addition to the
community but a huge money pit, not the profit-generator she claimed it
would be. She also supported bonds for $5.5m for road projects that
could have been done in 5-7 yrs without any borrowing.
While Mayor, City Hall was extensively remodeled and her office
redecorated more than once.
These are small numbers, but Wasilla is a very small city.

The Sarah Palin Selection: Why McCain's Inexperienced Running Mate Falls Short of Meeting the Implicit Constitutional Qualifications For Vice Presidents
Consider this parallel: Does anyone believe that if John McCain were president and had selected Governor Sarah Palin under the Twenty-fifty Amendment to fill a vacancy in the vice presidency, Congress would have confirmed her? Not likely. In fact, it is even less likely that McCain would have even attempted to do so, for he would have embarrassed himself.
While the Constitution does not expressly set forth qualifications for the vice-presidency, it strongly implies them --- and Palin falls short.
When Nixon selected Ford to be his Vice President, and Ford selected Rockefeller, the government was divided, with the Democrats controlling Congress. Yet a Democratic Congress approved both Ford and Rockefeller to be Vice President based on inter-branch comity. Surely no one would argue that Sarah Palin is in a league with Ford and Rockefeller when it comes to experience.
Nor does Palin possess anything close to the experience qualifications of the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, or the President pro tempore of the Senate, Robert Byrd. Indeed, I feel confident that Palin could not get confirmed for any of the top presidential succession posts, namely the posts of Secretary of State, Treasury and Defense. Palin's lack of qualifications have been widely noted. Newspapers from her state have raised questions of her qualifications.
Recently, I was in Alaska, just after Palin's name was first floated as a possible McCain running mate. Although I am not a Democrat, I gave a keynote speech at the Democrats' state convention. During my visit, a senior Democratic Party official said to me that he sure hoped McCain would select Palin, because based on his observation of her record Alaska, he opined that, : "She's screwing up Alaska big time, and she could probably assure defeat for McCain." His wish may be coming true.

September 7th, 2008 at 12:48 pmFred, not to mention that Obama's speeches come from the heart, sans teleprompter.
September 7th, 2008 at 12:49 pmPalin's speech was written by a BushitCo speechwriter and read from the prompter. Get Palinazi away from the prompter and she'll be exposed for the shallow fraud that she is.
I am stunned. However, Palin is SUCH a nightmare choice for both sides of the aisle I have seen enough to convince me that the Right (except evangelicals) are just as scared of her as everyone else. not scared that she is a formidable politician, but scared that her election means the end of the United States. She'd probably nuke a country that permits abortions.
September 7th, 2008 at 12:50 pmObama zeros in on Palin's early earmark acceptance
She questions Biden as 'agent of change'
TERRE HAUTE, Ind. — Barack Obama turned up the heat on John McCain and Sarah Palin at a rally here Saturday, accusing McCain of hijacking his campaign theme and being surrounded by lobbyists, and charging that Palin, as governor of Alaska, accepted federal pork "when it's convenient."
At an event held in a show barn on Terre Haute's Wabash Valley Fairgrounds, Obama employed the strongest language he's used since McCain and Palin formally accepted the GOP nomination for president and vice-president. He also accused them of hijacking his message of change.
"Since the beginning of this campaign, we've talked about change," Obama said. "That's been the theme of this campaign. We must be onto something because I've noticed everybody's talking about change now.
"John McCain has said that, 'change is coming.' Now think about this. This is from the party that has been in charge for eight years. They've been running the show." Obama said. "And suddenly, he's the change agent."
Then Obama opened a line of attack he hasn't used recently on the trail.
"He says, 'I'm going to tell those lobbyists that their days of running Washington are over.' Who's he going to tell?" Obama said. "Is he going to tell his campaign chairman, who's one of the biggest corporate lobbyists in Washington? Is he going to tell his campaign manager, who was one of the biggest corporate lobbyists in Washington? Is he going to tell all the folks running his campaign, who are the biggest corporate lobbyists in Washington?"

Statement of NOW PAC Chair Kim Gandy on the Selection of Sarah Palin as John McCain's Vice Presidential Pick
Sen. John McCain's choice of Alaska governor Sarah Palin as his running mate is a cynical effort to appeal to disappointed Hillary Clinton voters and get them to vote, ultimately, against their own self-interest.
Gov. Palin may be the second woman vice-presidential candidate on a major party ticket, but she is not the right woman. Sadly, she is a woman who opposes women's rights, just like John McCain.
The fact that Palin is a mother of five who has a 4-month-old baby, a woman who is juggling work and family responsibilities, will speak to many women. But will Palin speak FOR women? Based on her record and her stated positions, the answer is clearly No.
In a gubernatorial debate, Palin stated emphatically that her opposition to abortion was so great, so total, that even if her teenage daughter was impregnated by a rapist, she would "choose life" -- meaning apparently that she would not permit her daughter to have an abortion.
Palin also had to withdraw her appointment of a top public safety commissioner who had been reprimanded for sexual harassment, although Palin had been warned about his background through letters by the sexual harassment complainant.
What McCain does not understand is that women supported Hillary Clinton not just because she was a woman, but because she was a champion on their issues. They will surely not find Sarah Palin to be an advocate for women.
Sen. Joe Biden is the VP candidate who appeals to women, with his authorship and championing of landmark domestic violence legislation, support for pay equity, and advocacy for women around the world.
Finally, as the chair of NOW's Political Action Committee, I am frequently asked whether NOW supports women candidates just because they are women. This gives me an opportunity to once again answer that question with an emphatic 'No.' We recognize the importance of having women's rights supporters at every level but, like Sarah Palin, not every woman supports women's rights.

September 7th, 2008 at 12:56 pmI'm starting to get surprised by Fox News actually asking questions and standing up to some of these things. Do they just not like Palin? lol

September 7th, 2008 at 1:07 pmnot every woman supports women’s rights.
It's true.
Not every chicken opposes omelets, nor does every cow oppose steak tartar, nor every pig cracklins.
Lotsa folks have been seduced by propaganda to oppose their own best interests. It's the Murkin Way...
September 7th, 2008 at 1:21 pmdbadass...thanks for checking that out...scary was an understatement for me as well...as well as "churchy things" from "churchy people" that believe that their way is the only way. This, to me, would be MORE than fanatical, and I actually would be curious to know if this is "OK" with the moderates in their party.

September 7th, 2008 at 1:27 pmGet Palinazi away from the prompter and she’ll be exposed for the shallow fraud that she is.

The Sarah Palin Selection: Why McCain's Inexperienced Running Mate Falls Short of Meeting the Implicit Constitutional Qualifications For Vice Presidents

Are we, perhaps, seeing a bit of back-lash for the Jebus/Palin/McSpin assault on the "librul media"? One would think that, after they have all but endorsed McSpin and let him blather on without question, it's got to smart when they get clobbered for doing the very minimum to appear as though they are doing their jobs.
And I would not be amazed if some who openly endorsed McSpin feel betrayed by the selection of Ms. Palin. Plus, historically the gloves come off all the players following the conventions.
Regardless of agendas and personal loyalties, if Ms. Palin continues to berate the media, while dodging them, the "Barracuda" is going to learn what a pack of piranhas can do. Because the colossal egos of the talking heads won't let them placidly accept claims of incompetence from the people they have been promoting. They have put themselves in the unenviable position of choosing between naming specific "left-wing journalists" and facing well-armed defense or, lumping their defenders in with "the librul media" and lose their defenders.
And the few real journalists left? I think that they, like us, can find a half-a-hundred disqualifying intellectual and ethical issues in the Jebus/Palin/McSpin ticket and platform.
With any luck Ms. Palin may result in a resurgence of accountability in the press. Because, when push comes to shove, they will protect themselves and Ms. Palin is stupid enough to make it personal with people she can't intimidate.
She has a nasty habit of lying, on the record, and then attacking those who call her on it. If she treads on the ego of any of our least favorite Reichradio types, the race would be over. If Lush, Bill0, or any of the lesser scum get pissed and call her a liar the whole facade will crumble.
As unlikely as it may sound, I've seen nothing to suggest there's anyone in the Jebus/Palin/McSpin campaign smart enough to avoid a confrontation with someone the Reichwhiners trust. And, given her record, I think it's all but certain that Ms. Palin will stomp on the wrong foot.
OT:
If anyone is running a legal, accredited, pool on when the VP candidate blows it, assuming she hasn't already? I will put no more than $1.00 on 10/31.
I'm not terribly superstitious but, if a soul-eating demon is going to jump out of someone's chest? Halloween is any good a day as any. Or, she might just say that every mother in America is; "sending their children to Hell when they send them out to beg for Satan on Satan's Unholy Day!!!"
September 7th, 2008 at 2:32 pmAck! "Halloween is as good..."
September 7th, 2008 at 2:36 pmI think the "bridge to nowhere" is a good description of the McStain/Pallid campaign...

I thought it was Sarah Pawlenty!
For those who missed the co-chair of the RNC's big blunder at the convention. It's actually rather hilarious. She makes John McCain appear young and lucid, in comparison.

This is another example that the "old world jounalism of Murrow, Cronkite and Rather is dead and buried. In the case of the Time Magazine reporter Ms Tumulty, she seems to think the finding out the who, what, where, when and how have been replaced with a steno pad, which she records what ABC said in rebuttle to the complaint of Congressman Kucinich. There is a great disconnect with what happened and the points made by ABC. She asks little of no questions to ABC. She takes what is handed to her and repeats it vebatim and then calls that reporting. I call is stenography. Lida Sohbet sohbet sesli chat

Like how Neo-Cons ‘claimed’ there was a link between 9/11 and Saddam and the Iraq war went from ‘nightmare’ to ‘reality?’

If you’re referring to Karl Schwarz’ articles, if they are true, how will we ever know unless the news media gets involved without bias? The military under orders not to speak out may never convey Karl Scharz’ expose’. Sesli Sohbet If Cheney was truly involved in 9/11 and protected in some way, then he’s being protected by what may be going on in the Caspian Sea area as well. That pre-9/11 August 10, 2000 article drives the point home to me that Cheney had a vested interest in the oil at the Caspian Sea area (before 9/11). Fx15 From all I’ve read in Schwarz’ articles, he claims the Taliban was working on a deal with Argentina with that pipeline in the Caspian Sea area and UNOCOL wanted the deal instead. Orjinal Lida It’s too much to get into here and I’m not able to convey in here what Schwarz has presented in his articles. Sikis Dig into Schwarz’ articles to learn more about the unnamed soldier’s experiences related to so-called Black Ops missions in the Caspian Sea area in Schwarz’ article. What Schwarz had to present in this article is an eye opener: kurtlar vadisi pusu izle

And it was only after the federal government dropped it out, killed it, the Congress killed it that she then opposed it. And in fact she still got the money for the approach, the ramp to the Bridge to Nowhere.
