Palin: Iraq War is a “Task” from God
In campaign news, a video has emerged of Republican vice-presidential nominee Sarah Palin telling ministry students at her former church that the US invasion of Iraq is a task from God.

Sarah Palin: “Pray for our military men and women who are striving to do what is right. Also, for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders, are sending them out on a task that is from God. That’s what we have to make sure that we’re praying for, that there is a plan and that that plan is God’s plan. So bless them with your prayers, your prayers of protection over our soldiers.”

During the same address, Palin said the construction of a new oil pipeline in Alaska is God’s will.

Sarah Palin: “I can do my part in doing things like working really, really hard to get a natural gas pipeline, about a $30 billion project that’s going to create a lot of jobs for Alaskans, and we’ll have a lot of energy flowing through here. And pray about that also. I think God’s will has to be done in unifying people and companies to get that gas line built, so pray for that.”

I agree with bob. The issue is more how she dodged the question altogether. She asked her about the climate crisis and she replied with oil dependabcy, a completely different issue. And the stupid “liberal” media ate up that talking point. Pay attention people!

Pete I have never tried it but I have heard some interesting things about the brain of the members of the goatfish group. Seems Hawaiian mystics understood a few things about psychoactive chemicals and diet. I have an openhouse I must git to so I will look for ya later. I much prefer my own kitchen creations too but, I have to have McD’s fries a couple times a year. And there’s a local dive that has onion rings that, one can only surmise, have pleasing psychoactive drugs in the batter.

And I’m not sure too many sane “folks” are all that in love with Ms. Palin. Some of the more rural callers on local radio are not the type to be impressed by trophy rooms and “helicopter hunting”. They can turn ugly when someone without calloused hands tries to behave like “one of them”. They may not be sophisticated but, at least around here, they can smell a phony a mile off. I still see her doing more harm than good to the Jebus/Palin/McSpin ticket.

OT my ass. I believe the topic was climate related. I am amazed that folks will fall in love with a vp candidate they know nothing about just because they think that the candidate can relate to them but won’t rally around some very simple lifestyle changes in the interest of all if someone would just ask them to. Now as to drive thrus, I’ll bet you’re right but I wouldn’t know. I myself only eat food. I suppose that makes me an elitist…

It’s a bit off topic but, I recently heard a great discussion about energy conservation. One of the interesting tidbits was about the effect of outlawing “drive-thrus”. The estimate is that it would eliminate the equivalent of a city the size of San Diego from our national carbon footprint. And that’s without consideration of all the other nasty stuff idling engines produce.

For that matter. How can any self-professed moderate, who may have been leaning towards McSpin, still support the “Maverick” after he’s conceded the VP slot and “his” platform to the most radical voices of the GOP?

How can anyone, regardless of political tendencies, support a Presidential candidate who has been all but disavowed by “his” campaign? How can anyone support a candidate who didn’t even play a part in crafting “his” platform?

Combined with whisking away the VP candidate for a 2 week cram session it just looks worse. The whole campaign is effing surreal.

Maybe Palin will eventually give a bump… but I see it as that – only a bump. America will rapidly grow tired of her as many do with a one night stand.

Keith and had enough. Obviously the electoral college is the whole game, but correct me if I’m wrong, all those individual state polls were taken before the RNC convention and the relative bump in the numbers since the Palin selection.

I imagine some of those ‘barely’ or ‘weakly’ contested states could have turned.

The problem with many polls is that they tend to poll registered voters in equal numbers from each party. Sometimes they even fudge the numbers further by “correcting” for the density of Reps vs Dems in a given district or poll equal numbers of districts which historically vote for a given party. Unregistered or occasional voters are rarely counted at all.

All of which leads to criticism of polling that’s far older than I am. Namely, that polls are best at judging party loyalty, and little else.
