The truth is this country has ALWAYS had socialism for the rich. If you are a mom and pop business you better watch that bottom line but if you are a big corporation there never WAS any risk for you. The taxpayer has ALWAYS been there to bail them out.

The problem is, we’re not supposed to notice that the middle class taxpayer is always bailing out the rich. We’re always told “Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain.” Those of us who see through the smoke and mirrors are made out to be malcontents, crazy, or both (and sometimes anti-American, too).

Fannie and Freddie aren’t supposed to be taxpayer supported, but they are. There has always been that government guarantee there. And the administrators of the two purposely took on loans from people whom they KNEW were mortgaging property for more than it would be worth once the real estate market settled down and the administrators KNEW those people would eventually not be able to afford the payments– many were VERY bad risks to start with– and they made the loans anyway. Why? Two reasons. First, those administrators were earning highly paid bonuses based on how much business they did. Second, they figured there was little chance that the taxpayers wouldn’t be forced to bail out Fannie and Freddie.

Hey, people, if you think that middle class taxpayers haven’t been involved in paying toward those loans even before big bailout time, you haven’t been looking behind the curtain.

Do you realize that one of those bigwigs who lost his job and was under indictment cut a deal that supposedly cost him $25 million, but $16 million was in stock options wherein he had the option to buy stock at $70/share that’s now selling for $9/share? The rest of the $25 million was in things like insurance, retirement, etc. What did he really lose? Nothing! And all of the top cats at Fannie and Freddie have taken millions in bonuses that they’re never going to have to pay back, even though they committed malfeasance in their jobs. Who’s going to pay the real $1.6 trillion this fiasco is going to cost– not the billions we’ve been told it will cost? Those of us making between $60,000 and $175,000 in income annually. Not the rich, the middle class– again.

In this Gov. Palin didn’t state the whole magilla, but if that’s not a tax…

No it isnt fair to say Democrats do the same thing. For instance when Bush said that our enemies never stop thinking of ways to hurt America and neither will we. Dems didnt keep harping on what obviously was a slip of the tongue and pretending that Bush meant what he said. Also Palin is LYING about the bridge not a slip of the tongue that she made twenty times or more. This Fannie Mae thing also NOT a slip of the tongue it was the point she was making and THAT cant be a slip of the tongue

This woman throws out “our Christian Founders” like it’s truth while pushing for the elimination of science from classrooms. She is blatantly unqualified on the grounds of talent and temperament. As is her running mate, for choosing her if nothing else.

What I find interesting in this bailout is all the Democrats are having a serious problem seeing the forest because of all the trees.

This shows how little you people know. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were both created by the goverment as instruments to guarantee mortgages. It was only in 1968 that these two entities were made “private”. Now that the tax-payers are bailing them out they have become too expensive. Now whose idea was this? It was FDR a democrat!

I think it’s a big deal. Why? Two reasons. One, Carlyle wants the Fed/Treasury to loosen regulations for investing in banks. There could be a tit-for-tat. We’ll give you David Moffett for that banking regulation change. It fits with Carlyle’s & BushCo’s modus operandi.

Second, Carlyle Capital Corporation is in the process of being rolled up. Freddie Mac could buy their bonds back first or at a more preferred rate. It’s something for an internal auditor or external accounting firm to watch for.

But John McCain wants to reduce regulations and accounting standards!
