Oil reps and government employees joked about bubble baths, bringing ‘the meat to the table.’

Today’s Interior Department inspector general (IG) report reveals that government employees at the Denver Minerals Management Service — who are responsible for “handling billions of dollars in oil royalties” — expressed a desire to be a part of the oil industry’s “culture.” This included attending social events with oil representatives, who joked about having relations with the government employees. From the IG’s report:

Shouldn’t these people be arrested for prostitution, for starters?

  2. McWars says:

Oil-for-Food was a complete outrage when them Clintons were in office, but sex-for-oil is just living the good life. Back off, libs.

The text version of the report is worth a cut and paste into WORD, where it becomes a readable 39 pages.

The sexual stuff is but a symptom of the greater problem. They thought they were above the law, like Bush/Cheney.

As such, Royalty in Kind (RIK) marketers donned a private sector approach to essentially everything they did. This included effectively opting themselves out of the Ethics in Government Act, both in practice, and, at one point, even explored doing so by policy or regulation.

Much of the report was shared with the Bush Justice Department, which chose to do nothing.

Of course, this is a great set up for corruption fighting McCon/Pullin. I bet if that weren’t their theme, this report would’ve sat a few more months.

I think I am beginning to understand how Failin’ Palin got the oil companies to agree to that windfall profit tax she imposed on them up there in Alaska.

Perhaps we also now know how she and Bristol got pregnant . . . oil babies.

Bush is no different from Clinton or any other president. This is a fact.

Except that Bush started the biggest foreign policy mistake in US history, yeah.

Ooops, more inconvenient news for the McLame camp:

    AP
Study links oil prices to investor speculation

WASHINGTON – Speculation by large investors — and not supply and demand for oil — were a primary reason for the surge in oil prices during the first half of the year and the more recent price declines, an independent study concluded Wednesday.

The report by Masters Capital Management said investors poured $60 billion into oil futures markets during the first five months of the year as oil prices soared from $95 a barrel in January to $145 a barrel by July.

Since then, these investors have withdrawn $39 billion from those markets as prices have retreated dramatically, the report said. Oil traded at about $102 a barrel Wednesday on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

“We have clear evidence the fund flow pushed prices up and the fund flow pushed prices down,” said Michael Masters of Masters Capital Management, calling the amount of money moving into oil futures markets by large institutional investors in the early part of the year “way off the scale.”

Sorry but I can nevr take seriously any statement that feels the need to tell me that it is a fact. I prefer that the statement has the power to stand up for itself

Trajan, if you’re here to sharpen your cleverness for the probation violation hearing tomorrow, you’re failing miserably.

  14. McWars says:

Thanks for the link, DNFP. They don’t care that we’re on to them, they’ll keep doing what they’re doing and put that money right back in after the election.

This is what happens when you put ignorant, immoral, sh!t kickers in charge of a river of money. And keep in mind, this is the culture of the lobbyist. The culture Flippy McSpin depends on for his political survival.

Could it be that this is why the chants of “drill, baby drill” were so rabid at the GOP convention?

  21. pete says:

Could be, flavorino. Could be. Though I’m not sure the sheeple need a reason to shout a slogan aside from going with the crowd.

  22. LiberalVoter says:

How in the world did they forget to ‘lose’ these emails? Somebody in I.T. is going to get canned. How incompetent. /Snark off

Now check Bush/Cheney hard drives along with Palin hard drives. Come on, you just proved you could do what the rest of us know is possible.

As a side note, does anyone know if the ‘family value’ righties were lining up for jobs at this DOI branch?
