After bashing ‘community organizers’ last week, McCain will appear at public service forum tonight.

Tonight, Barack Obama and John McCain “will share the stage briefly as they appear back-to-back at the ServiceNation Presidential Candidates Forum at Columbia University in New York.” ServiceNation is a national grassroots campaign that asks citizen organizers to “rally their communities” to commit volunteer time for national service. As Pat Garofalo notes on the Wonk Room, McCain’s appearance “comes just a week after the Republican National Convention, where McCain’s supporters reserved some of their biggest jokes for community organizers – or those who make a career out of public service.” Watch it:

Update In the forum, McCain stated, "Of course I respect community organizers and people who serve their community." "Senator Obama's record there is outstanding," he said, adding, "I admire anyone who is willing to serve their community and country."

McCain probably is the world’s biggest hypocrite. The only that matters to him is what is happening in HIS life, others don’t matter.

Whatever honor mccain once had is long gone. He’s going to say how great community service is, and will not get called on hatred that came out of the mouths of his followers in StPaul.

Sorry to go O/T here but those who didn’t see the Failin’ Palin interview will enjoy this clip where Gibson asks about the GDumbya Doctrine –> http://talkingpointsmemo.com/archives/215981.php

She doesn’t have a clue what he’s talking about. I guess Smokin’ Joe didn’t do a very good job of prepping her.

    lol

p.s. — you can write the Pentacostal Pork-barrel Princess of Wasilla and suggest she withdraw from the campaign at her personal email address –> sarah.gov@hotmail.com

    OT
The Bush administration plans to drop Medicaid coverage for 18,000 low-income parents in Minnesota, a move that has stunned state officials who say they didn’t see it coming. The decision, buried in a 29-page document outlining federal changes affecting the state’s subsidized health program, known as MinnesotaCare, has prompted written protests from all 10 members of Minnesota’s congressional delegation, along with two emergency bills to head off the cuts, which could total $135 million over three years. On Wednesday, state officials were given two more weeks to make their case that the cut-off is unwarranted and could increase state costs and the ranks of the uninsured.

I just finished watching the Forum. Pretty dull, Obama had more support from the crowd.
Woodruff asked for some specifics from Obama whereas as she asked none from McCain, even thought the questions were supposed to be identical (which they were except for this one from Woodruff). Of course Obama had specifics to deliver so no problem.

The MAJOR point for me was that McCain talked about Faith-based organizations 4 times, claiming they were “very successful”.

The religious right and McCain struck a deal–Palin was the CFP’s pick obv.—and if McCain gets the WH he will owe the bible thumpers and we can expect America to turn into “The Hamdmaid’s Tale” .

So do we label Rudy 9/11 under “community organizer” as Mayor of NYC or “lazy, drunken loud mouth” for everything he did as the Prophet of the GOP, who couldn’t see his own devastating presidential candidacy suicide?

  10. Arctic Ghetto says:

I will say this about McCain, he runs one heck of a campaign from behind a skirt. The Republican election posters should simply say “Vote for Sarah Palin and whats his face.”.

  11. sectionop92 says:

Public service importance to the GOP is:

    1. military

    2. to be determined by what they need at the polls

  12. Tenebrae says:

Wasn’t it the GOP that tried railing against “people who say one thing to the people of Scranton and another to those in San Francisco”?

I know politicians tailor their message to the group they are addressing, but most don’t chide their opponent for doing it and then do five times as much of it…McCain is such a hypocrite as well as a bold faced liar.

  13. shawnfassett says:

McCain also blamed Obama for the negative turn in the campaign claiming had Obama done the lame townhall things he (McCain) wouldn’t have had to turn his campaign into “tough business.”

Exaclty, the campaign should be called “McMommy & me”

The man has no shame. Either that, or no memory…

  16. sectionop92 says:

McCain wants the Townhall debates to invoke the spirit of Lincoln. Because the GOP thugs think by throwing Lincoln, T.Roosevelt and Reagan’s names out there will make McCain look strong, vibrant and leader-like. When in reality, he whimpers to Cindy for his allowance and can’t spare time for his Constitutional duties as is in the Senate.

So if he has a problem with his job now, why should things change when there is a world crisis, he’s being served his mushed peas and tapioca pudding at 4 p.m. and that nation in trouble doesn’t fit the “USA, USA!!!” doctrine?

  17. acv says:

I just had to document this point in history – America has reached its darkest time in history when the spirit of service is mocked by our elected officials.
