GayWired.com reports:
Though she long sat on the sidelines as her father served as second in command over the past eight years, Vice-President Dick Cheney’s daughter Mary is flexing her political muscle and joining the fight to stop Prop. 8.
According to the website RepublicansAgainst8.com, Cheney pledged $3,000 back in July to the campaign to stop the ballot measure attempting to re-ban gay marriage in California.
RepublicansAgainst8 was founded by the Log Cabin Republicans. The group recently endorsed Sen. John McCain (R-AZ), who supports Prop. 8.
Log Cabin Republicans, really blow me away. It’s like a Jews for Hitler party.
September 12th, 2008 at 4:32 pmIs there anything as schizophrenic as a Log Cabin Republican?
September 12th, 2008 at 4:33 pmWhat are any homosexuals doing in the Gay Opposition Party? Why would you be in a party that openly and actively wants to discriminate against you?
September 12th, 2008 at 4:37 pmI don’t trust Mary Cheney, but I’m pleased she’s choosing to enter this fight.
On the good side.
September 12th, 2008 at 4:37 pmGummitch – ya stole the words right off my keyboard.
That kind of self-loathing schizophrenia makes my head spin.

You try breathing the air in their tightly packed closets, and see how long it takes you to start doing mindless acts.
What’s one more contradiction to someone like that?
September 12th, 2008 at 4:39 pmI’m thinking that’s like being in the Chickens for Colonel Sanders Group…….
September 12th, 2008 at 4:43 pmWhy should the rest of the Republicans support gay marriage when they already get their same-sex jollies in the bathroom stalls. No need to buy the cow when you can get the milk for free…
September 12th, 2008 at 4:45 pmcan someone explain to me what the problem with gay marriage might be? I so don’t get it…
September 12th, 2008 at 4:45 pm…or cows for Burger King
Perhaps the Log Cabin Rethuglicans should take a cue from Groucho Marx.
I would not belong to any party that would have me as a member.
Have a good weekend, all.
September 12th, 2008 at 4:47 pmI’m glad that Mary Cheney has decided to do what’s right where Prop. 8 is concerned, even though she appears to be firmly behind the GOP on all other issues, and even though she’s not a resident of California.
She could have done nothing, and nobody would have noticed.
But I suspect now that she’s a mother, she might have to answer a question from her child someday about what she has done to ensure that people like her and her partner are considered to be real people.
Oh, and about her dad? He has done many evil things, to be sure. But I don’t remember him ever being rabidly anti-gay. He’s never been vocally in favor of equal rights for gays, but when the rest of his party has been screaming about the evil homosexuals, he’s always kept quiet.
September 12th, 2008 at 4:48 pmI used to think the Log Cabin Boys only cared about ZERO taxes and knee pads. Now I see they are truly self hating schizophrenic basket cases.
September 12th, 2008 at 4:54 pmLog Cabin Republicans are just like ALL other Repugs – it’s all about the almighty $.
They honestly do not mind selling anyone else – including their own – down the river all for the sake of a greater tax break – or whatever outrageous financial blessing they’ve been promised.
What is it that happens to some people after they inherit/accumulate that kind of wealth that causes their brains to stop working and the souls to die?
Worst First Date (and last date) ever: nice, mildly entertaining evening comes to an abrupt halt when the doofus gleefully tells me that he’s a Log Cabin Republican. Oh, the things I thought of later to say to him: Sorry that you hate yourself that much. How does it feel to know you are killing the people who are trying to LIVE with AIDS? What’s the secret code for the airport men’s room?
Yeesh. I just don’t get it.
September 12th, 2008 at 4:56 pmWell, at least there is one Cheney who believes in America and Freedom.
September 12th, 2008 at 4:56 pmFudge packer repubuscum hate themselves, obviously.
My apologies to actual fudge packers everywhere.

Ah yes — they want the Democrats and everybody else to get their gay sex in public bathrooms, too. Never mind that most of us (gay OR straight) prefer ambience that’s a bit more romantic and private.
No, I think it’s that all the things the rabid right harps on — monogamy, commitment, fidelity, etc. — apply only to heterosexuals. They think that gays will somehow just vanish off the face of the earth if they’re spat on enough.
Where’s Daryll to tell us that all gays are going straight to h*ll anyway?
September 12th, 2008 at 4:59 pmThe religious leaders and their zealot followers are gearing up to take down the ruling that allows gay marriage here in California. They’re hoping to get the 50.1% of the voters to support them to overturn the ruling. One of the local news magazine shows had a piece featuring both a newly married gay couple with an adopted daughter…that the birth mother specifically asked be given to a gay couple, then a bigot religious leader who trotted out a huge bible to try to get his point across by pointing out the tired and phony text.
Of course, these people use the bible and nothing else to damn the gay marriage ruling. Because God is great, is a Christian god and loves only the union between a man and a woman. These people are so pathetic, the word is of little use describing them in totality. They have to hand down law through the bible, because they have fear of a eternal being who only shows up in Cheetos, wood panels and other inane objects.
Gay marriage, among other things, is what McCain was talking about when he commented on judges not ruling from bench.

Daryll’s probably praying his way there as we speak.
September 12th, 2008 at 5:12 pmContinue to step away from the dark side Mary, step away…
September 12th, 2008 at 5:13 pmGood for her!
and to her dad, go Cheney yourself, I’ll see you in chains at Den Hague before I die.
September 12th, 2008 at 5:14 pmI really wish the Republicans would stop playing wedge politics with the lives of gay and lesbian Americans. It is far from the only thing wrong with the Republican party, but it is definitely one of the most shameful things. I applaud the efforts of the Log Cabin Republicans, but their existence cannot make up for the hateful bigotry of the party they belong too.

Monogamy, commitment, fidelity… nope, Repugs don’t practice that in their hetero relationships either.
September 12th, 2008 at 6:14 pmThese log cabin Republicans must be really confused. Endorse a candidate that opposes everything you believe…way to go.

One issue doesn’t constitute “everything.”
September 13th, 2008 at 8:00 amMary Cheney isn’t “flexing her political muscle”, she’s donating a relatively pathetic $3,000 to the campaign, as any citizen can do. If she wanted to flex something, she’d appear in a television ad (and piss off daddy’s friends).
The only muscle I see being flexed in this story is gaywired’s LCR propaganda muscle.
