Todd Palin may be subpoenaed in Troopergate investigation.

The state Senate Judiciary Committee voted 3-2 today to give a state investigator the power to subpoena Todd Palin, the husband of Gov. Sarah Palin, “in an investigation of whether Palin abused her power in trying to get her former brother-in-law fired.” The prosecutor, Stephen Branchflower, said Todd Palin is “such a central figure.” He added that wants to interview Sarah Palin but did not ask for a subpoena for her.

And they actually expect honest answers from a Repubuscum?

    Laughable.

I was on a 2000 mile snowmobile race at the time.

And they actually expect honest answers from a Repubuscum?

    Isn't Todd a secessionist?

  5. Zooey Says:

    Corrupt is as corrupt does.

    The Palins suck.

now the question becomes... have they paid Todd enough to stay honest... that is.. stay bought?

Arizona Barbie's checkbook is getting quite a workout because of her husband's pick of Caribou Barbie.

First was getting baby daddy Levi to show up and play the role of devoted fiance, now Mr. Barbie is going to need legal representation.

Or, I guess they could send Lieberman along to whisper in Todd's ear.

I'm just guessing here, but I'd bet McStain was none too happy with how Princess Wasilla performed last night. But we'll stay tuned and see if tonight's editing is more positive.

    Color me skeptical.

    PEACE

Isn't there something about not testifying against your spouse, kinda like involking the 5th? Is Todd more of a central figure than the person being accused of abuse of power? It's all pretty weird: oh, by the way, that's our VP pick. Weird.

  9. Marie Says:

I wonder about that, too, Bob.
Does a spouse have the privilege of not testifying?

I suppose if he invokes that privilege it will look bad for the wife, even in his silence.

I didn't think Republiscum had to answer to a subpeona. So, what's the point?

Put Mrs. Todd Palin on the stand, whether he cooperates or not!

  12. misshusseinmolly Says:

It depends on if they are interested in what Todd can say about Sarah's doings, or what Todd can say about Todd's doings.

If Todd is being asked to rat Sarah out, he will probably claim spousal privilege. if he's being asked to rat himself out, he will probably claim the fifth. But if he throws up any obstacle at all, it will look like there's something to hide. On the other hand, if no wrongdoing has been committed, and the whole thing is just a product of a Wooten vendetta, Todd will have no problem cooperating.

I think the state investigator just wants to get to the bottom of this. And now, so does the rest of the country.

  13. Zooey Says:

Here's a partial list of the right and responsibilities that go along with marriage in Alaska. The privilege of not testifying against the spouse is last on the list.

  14. RUCerious Says:

    Shall we take a poll?

    A. Executive privilege, as Todd is like The First Alaska Dude.

    B. Executive privilege, as Governor Palin, her children, husband, cousins, and Todd's dogs fall under this clause.

    C. None of Your Official Business, as Governor, no one is allowed to ask anyone with the last name Palin any question of any sort, or you're just being mean.

    D. I'll burst into tears if you make me.

  15. sectionop92 Says:

If you put Todd Palin on the stand and he claims the fifth, that is as good as a "I'm guilty" plea in the public's eyes.

  16. Game of Life Says:

How do repugs' answers make them seem any smarter?

repugs' first response is just madhatter crazy until you hear their muligan response.

mcchimpy said she's a smart woman, but looks who's giving the compliment. repugs will defend repugs no matter how many years they spend in prison.

mcchimpy is sticking it to the repugs.

A maverick is a person/team who do/does stupid things to their once "friends."

"Todd Palin may be subpoenaed in Troopergate investigation."

And we shall see if Saraccuda invokes executive privilege for her hubby.

  18. IBTunion4obama Says:

The MSM better get on this story.

  19. CitizenX Says:

I have been wondering why the moose killa of wasilia won't be subpoenaed and it just hit me.

They will discover that they must talk to her before they make their determination and will have to subpoenae her, which means they will need more time to complete the investigation.

In that way the results will be delayed until after the election.

  20. Michael Lafferty Says:

There is no such thing as a 'spousal privilege' in administrative and civil proceedings. It is only in a criminal proceeding that one cannot be compelled to testify against one's spouse, and in which such a protection can me invoked.

Nothing prohibits voluntary testimony in such cases: only the forcible compulsion to testify.

Todd Palin is likely a critical player in this matter, however, as it is becoming apparent that his 'dutiful wife' does nothing without his involvement and his permission. Consistent, no doubt, with her ultra-conservative co-mingled religious and political leanings.

It's hard to get your head around such glaring inconsistencies, but there you have it.
