White House: Bush thought Palin ‘handled herself well’ in ABC interview.

In yesterday’s interview with ABC, Gov. Sarah Palin was stumped when asked what the “Bush Doctrine” of preventive warfare is, falsely claiming it is President Bush’s “worldview.” Today, White House Press Secretary Tony Fratto said Palin “handled herself well.” But when asked if Bush’s feelings were “hurt” by Palin’s ignorance of the Bush Doctrine, Fratto quickly changed the subject:

FRATTO: He saw some of the coverage. He thought she handled herself well.

Q Are his feelings hurt that she wasn’t readily available with an answer about what the Bush doctrine is?

FRATTO: I don’t have anything on that. Let’s go through the week ahead – or do you have any more, or are we good? The week ahead. Let’s see, Saturday and Sunday the President will be in Washington.

And the White House has been so honest for the past eight years, who could not believe their lies?

  2. Leftside Annie says:

    Yeah. He *would*.

    *eyeroll*

  3. belac says:

    Damnit!
If only Palin had thought of this: “I don’t have anything on that. Let’s go through the week ahead – or do you have any more, or are we good? ”
She’s kicking herself for not thinking of that one!

  4. RUCerious says:

The week ahead. Let’s see, Saturday and Sunday the President will be in Washington.

Whaaa? He’s not in Crawford, tending to his brush?

  5. Count Istvan says:

Actually what Perino meant to say was Bush handled himself well while he watched Palin.

  6. RUCerious says:

If looking like Bullwinkle in the headlights is ‘handled well’, I’d hate to see what ’screwed up beyond rucking fecognition’ would look like.

  7. Buckie Boy says:

And her handlers trained her for her response to the Holy God’s War quote, they must have searched hard and long for the explanation, and it was a far stretch at that…trying to pass it off as quoting Lincoln was complete and total BULLSH!T, we know what she said, and she did not make any kind of reference to what Lincoln said..

…She is a serial liar, a fraud, a corrupt fascist, creationist hag.

    LOL!

Is that anything like Hannibal Lecter saying that Jeffrey Dahmer “has good taste”?

  9. DidHeJustSayThat says:

If you think about it a minute, given what they’re working with here – it wasn’t so bad. She lived up to expectations!

  10. upside99 says:

But, Hey, Dubya doesn’t know what the Bush Doctrine is either, so she is as qualified as he is to be POTUS. He thought they were saying ‘Brush‘ Doctrine, and he is all over that one, for sure!

    Heh Heh

  11. Zimzone says:

Palin ‘handling herself well’ sounds kind of perverted, especially with millions watching, eh?

  12. McWars says:

Palin has exceeded the FEMA bar. Heckuva job, Palie.

  13. Count Istvan says:

Since McFilthy and McNasty (sorry Johnny Most) are running away from Chimps doesn’t having Chimps endorse them hurt their credibility?

  14. paleolib says:

Of course Chimpy thought the snowbilly handled it well. She didn’t laugh when Softball Charlie mention Bush. She didn’t roll her eyes. She didn’t ask “Bush who?”

  15. IgnoranceIsNotBliss says:

He must have been watching a different Talibunny interview than I watched then.

  16. DwH says:

Who asked the MORTIFYINGLY JUVENILE question about Bush’s ‘feelings” being hurt ?

That is indicative of the level the republicans and the press want Americans to stoop to in this election.

FRATTO: He saw some of the coverage

See, there was a ballgame on another channel, and the Beverly Hillbillies were on TV Land, so Dubya was kinda channel-surfin’, if you will.

But what he saw, he liked. She’s one fine filly, ain’t she?

  19. misshusseinmolly says:

Oh, please. The White House would say that Palin handled herself well if she had burst into tears and accused Gibson of “picking on her”. Or if she did a bump-and-grind striptease while singing “Let Me Entertain You”.

I’m sure the WH had their statement written up before the interview began.

  20. Buckie Boy says:

IgnoranceIsNotBliss Says “Talibunny” oh man, I like that one…gotta pass that one around.

  21. hanshiro says:

bush once told people he’d seen the movie, “A Perfect Storm,” until Laura revealed that he’d watched the washing machine stuck on “rinse” for two hours…

  22. Max-1 says:

    .

Palin didn’t even know what the Bush Doctrine is, yet in response she claims she’s qualified to “secure America” from that Russian threat next to Alaska and she does know that energy is a top priority to defend America.

That is something the BushCo can stand behind…

    … I N C O M P E T E N C E ! ! !

  23. Rich H says:

Bush: Damn, she’s smarter than I am!

  24. DutchHenry says:

  26. sectionop92 says:

If you call burning the salmon on the grill a good thing, then this was aces! So what will happen when Katie Couric gets a shot at her? If Charlie Gibson can ask some toughies, Couric needs to ask better ones to make her seem like a real news person.

Sarah Dumb Dumb better get a tutor for the talking points, because McCain only accepts this kind of stupidity from himself.

  27. Buckie Boy says:

When asked about her being ready for the job she instantly says yes without thinking, maybe she should actually consider what the job is…

“So much is expected, so many untoward circumstances may intervene, in such a new and critical situation, that I feel an insuperable diffidence in my own abilities. I feel, in the execution of the duties of my arduous Office, how much I shall stand in need of the countenance and aid of every friend to myself, of every friend to the Revolution, and of every lover of good Government.”

    George Washington

“The thought of being president frightens me. I do not think I want the job.”

    Ronald Reagan

“I answered him ‘yes’ because I have the confidence in that readiness and knowing that you can’t blink, you have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, the mission that we’re on, reform of this country and victory in the war, you can’t blink. So I didn’t blink then even when asked to run as his running mate.”

    Sarah Palin

Anybody who isn’t a more than a bit frightened at the prospect of becoming the president is even more simple minded than Bush…

  28. NOLIESPLEASE says:

Well…here we have it…who is more stupid?

The American people or Sarah Palin ????

After these disastrous 8 years, Bush’s opinion should really tell you that you should believe the opposite.

“The woman doesn’t even know enough to know she doesn’t know enough”. From FDL

Geerauldo of Al Capone vault fame praised Scarha for the interview (while battling waves in Texas) and went on to say he would “keep his fingers crossed that nothing would happen to McCain so she could “learn” from him”
Well isn’t that nice? Why not just pray for him to be OK?
Or would that cancel out the people who are praying for McCain to die after he is elected, so Scarha would be prez?

  32. MapleStreet says:

She’s ready for the job. It seems like just yesterday that she was interviewed before the convention and had to ask what the Veep did. And now she is up to asking what the Bush Doctrine is.

Quite an amazing learning curve for just a few months work.

  33. acv says:

Please let me quote Dick Cheney, “So.”

  34. EugeneDebs says:

Of course they thought she handled herself well. There has never been a downside to being a moron in the Bush administration.
