On MSNBC this afternoon, McCain adviser Carly Fiorina decried Tina Fey’s portrayal of Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live as “sexist.” “I think she looked a bit like her — I think of course the portrait was very dismissive of the substance of Sarah Palin,” Fiorina argued, calling it “totally superficial,” “disrespectful in the extreme,” and “sexist.” Watch it:
Palin doesn’t appear to share Fiorina’s complaints, however:
According to her spokesperson Tracey Schmitt, the real Sarah Palin had a good laugh along with the press corps in the back of the plane and millions of Americans at home.
“She thought it was quite funny, particularly because she once dressed up as Tina Fey for Halloween,” Schmitt said.
What ever Fiorina rips it stinks. Believe nothing she says.
September 15th, 2008 at 1:59 pmWHAT SUBSTANCE of Sarracudda? It is NOT sexist to attack HER and her personal policies because she is a woman. It is ony sexist to attack her based on stereotypes common to ALL women. Get back to us when Tina starts talking about her visit from aunt Flo
September 15th, 2008 at 1:59 pmSubstance?
A former Republican White House official, who now works at the American Enterprise Institute, a bastion of Washington neoconservatism, admitted: “She’s bright and she’s a blank page…” Blank page? Easy to fill with all sorts of nonsense then.
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/newstopics/uselection2008/sarahpalin/2827217/Neoconservatives-plan-Project-Sarah-Pain-to-shape-future-American-foreign-policy.html
September 15th, 2008 at 2:00 pmFundy Palin dresses for HALLOWEEN!?
Shocking…
September 15th, 2008 at 2:00 pmIf Fey’s portrayal of Gov. Palin was “superficial,” then it was spot on.
September 15th, 2008 at 2:00 pmAnd the sketch made a good point. Oh how many cared about sexism all of the sudden…where were those voices when Clinton was a presidential candidate?
September 15th, 2008 at 2:00 pmBut the portrayal of Hillary was ok with Fiorina, I’m assuming.
September 15th, 2008 at 2:01 pmProving Carly Fiorina has no sense of humor…
September 15th, 2008 at 2:02 pm“I think she looked a bit like her, but of course the portrait was very dismissive of the substance of Sarah Palin,” Fiorina argued
I whole-heartedly agree …………….
Fey portrayed Caribou Barbie as a half a retard as opposed to the complete one she truly is.
September 15th, 2008 at 2:03 pmFiorina, paired with McCaskill yesterday, sat there & repeated the lie that Palin gave the earmarked Bridge to Nowhere monies back.
George Stephanopalis never rebuked the point. Thanks, George.
Why does the MSM allow these people to keep lying? Because it makes for good ratings? Because they’re ‘in on it’? Because they’re too damn stupid to know the facts?
I used to look forward to Sunday morning talking Pol heads. Now, it’s become an open forum to lie & get away with it.
McCain / Palin – Campaian to Nowhere – ‘08
September 15th, 2008 at 2:03 pmNote to Carly: F * * K YOU!
It’s a COMEDY SHOW – or have you forgot about the First Amendment too?
September 15th, 2008 at 2:03 pmAnd yet, if Hillary’s camp had complained during the Primaries that Amy Poehler’s portayal of her was sexist, the Repugs would have labeled them whiners.
Now, what I really want to see is Martin Short making a guest appearance on SNL as Ms. Fiorina – he already eerily resembles her – I bet he could do a fierce send-up of Carly.
That would be entertaining.
September 15th, 2008 at 2:05 pmLOL! Now the right is all hypersensitive and all lefties are SOOOO MEAN … WAH!
BTW, next we’ll hear how Obama’s in & out breathing technique stinks of sexism, too …
Why does no one ever challenge Fiorina’s credibility seeing that she was forced out in a series of horrible scandals at HP where she spied on HER OWN COMPANY!!
September 15th, 2008 at 2:05 pmDisrespectul-How? I don’t think Tina Fey was off the mark at all…sounded, looked and acted just like Palin.
This is exactly how Palin has introduced herself to the country.
September 15th, 2008 at 2:06 pmFiorina’s a failure. She screwed things up at HP so bad they ousted her.
September 15th, 2008 at 2:06 pmFiorina should just shut her lying trap. She ran her company into the ground and reaped a huge windfall for doing it. Just another incompetent and corrupt Republican corporate thief.
September 15th, 2008 at 2:08 pmThis is unfair of Fiorina. We would love to see the substance of Jennifer Palin, but we haven’t been deferential enough at this point.
September 15th, 2008 at 2:08 pm“totally superficial,” “disrespectful in the extreme,” and “sexist.”
Looks to me like Fey had Flailin Palin pegged to a tee.
September 15th, 2008 at 2:09 pmHmmm, did Fiorina have anything to say about the portrayal of Hillary being “sexist?”
September 15th, 2008 at 2:09 pmFiorina is tap-dancing so fast because she is hoping to get a job in a McCain/Palin administration. Those millions that she got as a severance package from Hewlett Packard must be getting pretty thin these days and she can’t afford her Cristal as often…
Consider what Fiorina’s motivations are… She wants a job. She lost out to Tabla Rase Palin there and now wants another position. Private sector won’t hire her so she’s gonna have to try to take a paycheck from the public sector if she can.
September 15th, 2008 at 2:09 pm“I think she looked a bit like her — I think of course the portrait was very dismissive of the substance of Sarah Palin,” Fiorina argued, calling it “totally superficial,” “disrespectful in the extreme,” and “sexist.”
_______
When I hear a statement like that coming from a woman candidate with any kind of perceived whine about that “excess criticism,” or maybe a “sharper microscope put on her,” I think, “man, that doesn’t do women any good – women in politics, or women in general – trying to progress this country.”
September 15th, 2008 at 2:09 pmFiorino has obviously been promised a cabinet position should McStain win in November.
Although I don’t recall the Secretary of Water Carriers from prior administrations.
PEACE
September 15th, 2008 at 2:10 pmSo I guess McSexist calling Cindy a “Trollop C**T” isn’t?
And as far as I have heard Repukian Fascist Mafia types are totally sexist pigs.
Try going to a redneck bar and listen in for a while…yikes!!!
September 15th, 2008 at 2:10 pmDid anyone see the Life magazine cover photo from 2004 where Tina Fey fixes McCain’s tie? The headline was Why We’re Voting.
September 15th, 2008 at 2:11 pm“An issue which I am frankly surprised to hear people suddenly care about” — Amy Poehler as Hillary Clinton on the issue of sexism in the media
So tell me, Mrs. Failed CEO, what are your thoughts?
September 15th, 2008 at 2:14 pmZimzone Says: #12
Since the MSM is controlled by larger corporate entities they are simply following orders from their owner/handlers. Its a simple choice. You either toe the line and keep getting your fat paycheck or you can work elsewhere. Where elsewhere is I don’t know. That’s the only reason I can think of as to why they perpetuate this insanity.
September 15th, 2008 at 2:16 pmGuess even women can’t make fun of Palin without being “sexist”.
September 15th, 2008 at 2:16 pmAccording to her spokesperson Tracey Schmitt, the real Sarah Palin had a good laugh along with the press corps in the back of the plane and millions of Americans at home.
Early this morning I read an article (which I now can’t seem to locate) that said Palin was in the front of the plane as the skit was performed, not with reporters. The article also stated there was silence in the front of the plane, as it was performed. Something smells.
September 15th, 2008 at 2:16 pmdrago Says:
“…or have you forgot about the First Amendment too?”
Don’t worry, Drago. A McCain/Palin presidency will fix THAT soon enough.
We can only hope that Fiorina’s whining and Tina Fey’s uncanny performance will bring us the promise of MANY more SNL sketches in this vein.
September 15th, 2008 at 2:17 pmCarly you’re itching for another 4 years of tax breaks! You need it bad. I guess 8 years is not enough? What about the rest of us? Start getting used to it. You’re time is up! You and your greedy corporate droogs are humanity’s worst enemy.
September 15th, 2008 at 2:18 pmPalin dressed like Tina Fey for Halloween one year? How does one dress like a comedy writer? Nice try Sarah but we’re not buying that load. As barfly says, there was no laughter from the front of the plane and Sarah didn’t go back to the reporters after and tell them how much she enjoyed the skit.
Woman like Fiorina and Palin who are awful at their jobs are trying to reinforce that glass ceiling Hillary put the cracks in. But that’s what good little bootlicking Rethugs do.
September 15th, 2008 at 2:23 pm“She thought it was quite funny, particularly because she once dressed up as Tina Fey for Halloween,” Schmitt said.
– - Wow, the lies just keep flowing out of the McCain mouthpieces.
September 15th, 2008 at 2:24 pm.
Carly, Carly, Carly…
One can not dismiss that which is not substantive…
So Alaska is near Russia. Argumentatively saying that because of that qualifier alone, she is experienced to handle issues of National Security is arguing a non-substantive position. That’s like saying I’m qualified to address energy and natural gas… because I fart!
.
September 15th, 2008 at 2:24 pmmk3872 Says:
Why does no one ever challenge Fiorina’s credibility seeing that she was forced out in a series of horrible scandals at HP where she spied on HER OWN COMPANY!!
Or because of her stint at running HP, HP and Compaq had to merge. She is also one of those who also got a bonus when she left after nearly bankrupting the company she was running.
September 15th, 2008 at 2:27 pmFitting she should be advising the Republican presidential candidate, eh?
Sooooo, the right side makes ‘Obama Waffles’ – an obvious racial epithet, but a COMEDY show cannot make fun of Palin? Why does the right side hate comedy – they have been laughing at the electorate for 7+ years now. And the entire Bush presidency has been a laugher of ruinious proportions.
Oh, BTW way Fiorina STFU!
September 15th, 2008 at 2:31 pmReporter: “Ms. Fiorina, as a woman–”
September 15th, 2008 at 2:34 pmFiorina:”–SEXIST!”
Reporter: “okay, as a former CEO in and industry dominated–”
Fiorina: “–by hairy beer-swilling MEN, yes…”
Reporter: “–ummm…is image more important than–?”
Fiorina: “–SEXIST!”
Reporter: “…but–”
Fiorina:”–SEXIST!”
Reporter: “er…by any chance did you get to be CEO of HP because you you yelled–”
Fiorina: “–SEXIST!”
Reporter:”–all the time?”
Fiorina:”Absolutely not! You SEXIST!”
I thought they were stretching it when there was no public dissent on Plain. Then, after the Gibson interview, I thought a least one r would say that it wasn’t strong, but… Now, with this, it’s even more obvious that they’re going overboard for the sake of party. She’s making the same argument for a comedy skit that is made for anyone else. Didn’t she get the memo saying skip the attack on the haha show, we want that publicity?
Noun, verb, sexist. Isn’t that getting old?
September 15th, 2008 at 2:35 pmthe portrait was very dismissive of the substance of Sarah Palin
Substance? She ain’t got NO SUBSTANCE!
September 15th, 2008 at 2:35 pmHollow suit selected for her ability to get the low information male vote.
And what did Fiorina have to say about “Clinton’s” portrayal? Only one side of Fiorina brain must have been working because it was a comedy skit of two woman. Gee, something must be really wrong with Palin because McCain is so protective of her and his campaign is constantly over-reacting when it comes to Palin. Should we be looking for a “blue dress”?
September 15th, 2008 at 2:37 pmMax-1: That’s like saying I’m qualified to address energy and natural gas… because I fart!
I’m looking forward to your 2012 campaign!
September 15th, 2008 at 2:38 pm“totally superficial”???
Scary Sarah is the definition of totally superficial, Crazy Carla is a close second.
September 15th, 2008 at 2:39 pmAccording to her spokesperson Tracey Schmitt, the real Sarah Palin had a good laugh along with the press corps in the back of the plane and millions of Americans at home.
When are they going to tell us that Sarah Palin does not speak for the McCain/Palin Campaign?
September 15th, 2008 at 2:49 pmShould we be looking for a “blue dress”?
Yes, one with oil stains on it.
September 15th, 2008 at 2:51 pmSaid Carly Fiorina, failed CEO…
September 15th, 2008 at 2:57 pmI saw Carly on MSNBC today, and when she was asked about the troubled financial markets she was quick to blame the lack of regulations on the Democrats oversight in the Congress.
September 15th, 2008 at 3:02 pmBut she forgot,or tried to forget, who is in charge of the government and also who was in charge for over 13 years of the Congress.
The whole banking and credit problem came as a result of the housing/mortgage bubble and prime rate, that started years back before Democrats were even in charge of anything, mixed with packaging mortgage loans as a product sold overhere and abroad by big banks.
When the housing market went down it took with it the values of these properties on hand and papers down with them creating a serious liquidity problem to financial institutions.
This did not happen overnight.
Carly Fiorina is a big whiner.
If she cannot take Saturday Night Live jokes just like everybody else, then she has a problem.
she once dressed up as Tina Fey for Halloween…
wow. that took some guts… dressing up as someone you look like…
September 15th, 2008 at 3:07 pmZooey Says:
Fundy Palin dresses for HALLOWEEN!?
oh yea! and then there’s THAT…
September 15th, 2008 at 3:16 pmStratRat Says:
Sooooo, the right side makes ‘Obama Waffles’ – an obvious racial epithet, but a COMEDY show cannot make fun of Palin?
imagine that…
September 15th, 2008 at 3:24 pmI accept, and expect, misleading half-truths from politicians. However, I’ve never witnessed such ridiculous, blatant, lies in my life. Claiming to have dressed as someone most people have never heard of, for Halloween, is a whopper. To lie about satire serves to demonstrate that the Chippy’s (Palin’s) first, last, and only, defense is to lie like a rug.
Nothing is too important or trivial for “Flippy’s Chippy” to lie about. She has nothing else to offer.
September 15th, 2008 at 3:25 pmFiorina’s credibility is being noticed and soon she will join the irrelevant liars within our mainstream media….
I was thinking that myself. I won’t be at all surprised when she becomes a “FoxSnooze contributor”.
September 15th, 2008 at 3:31 pmC’mon folks, don’t you think Sarah Palin looks like Jane Curtin? I can’t wait for the vice presidential debates . . .
September 15th, 2008 at 3:34 pmI remember the trollops calling Hillary ‘pig in a pantsuit’ among mnay other nasty remarks.
Fiorina is feigning sexism.
September 15th, 2008 at 3:43 pmThe feign! The feign! Look, Fiorina, the feign!!
It seems Sarah Palin & George Bush have much in common, as both celeberate Halloween, a holiday with pagan roots:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2007/10/images/20071031-9_p103107sc-0438-515h.html
September 15th, 2008 at 3:45 pmTo be honest, ALL their holidays are Pagan rooted, including Xmas and Easter (zombie jesus day)

A lot of my retirement money went down the drain with Ms. Fiorina..
I thought the sketch was hilarious. My only change would have been to have “Hillary” chase “Palin” off the stage with the piece of wood she tore off the podium. And I loved it when “Hillary” offered her balls to the MSM!
September 15th, 2008 at 3:53 pmI honestly don’t care what anyone says about the skit, I thought that was some funny stuff and kudos to Tina Fey for masterfully portraying Sarah Palin.
September 15th, 2008 at 3:54 pmI’m willing to bet the farm that Sarah Barracuda had never even heard of Tina Faye before she started running for VP. It’s like the woman is incapable of telling the truth.
September 15th, 2008 at 3:57 pmThe more I think about it, I think I find Chippy Palin’s little lies more disturbing than the big ones. Anyone who would, casually, make claims that can be debunked, like claiming she watched the skit with the press who had already reported the opposite, indicates that she doesn’t even know what the truth is.
Her dishonesty isn’t calculated, it’s inherent to her character. And that scares the crap out of me. This country can not afford to let her get within spitting distance of the White House.
September 15th, 2008 at 4:01 pmand of course
DAMN IT, TINA SHOWED NO DEFERENCE!!!!!!
September 15th, 2008 at 4:04 pmFact check on plain portraying Fey on Halloween.
September 15th, 2008 at 4:07 pmFact check on plain portraying Fey on Halloween.
Agreed. I don’t buy it for a second. Though I wonder if they’ll produce a picture of Chippy with a hairstyle similar to one Tina wore and claim it’s a costume? And wouldn’t it be great if the photo had a date stamp in June?
September 15th, 2008 at 4:13 pmHow do you “dress up” as Tina Fey? I want to see a picture of it!
September 15th, 2008 at 4:14 pmGetting a little grumpy, was she?! It’s comedy for god sakes!! Lost what little sense of humor she had…must be hitting a nerve:)Too Funny!
September 15th, 2008 at 4:15 pm1984….Go visit “The Wonk Room”…story there as well…:)She’s a blank slate to pour ALL that crap into her head..scary. We have MORE than enough of them.
September 15th, 2008 at 4:19 pmFiorina’s last shreds of credibility are evaporating–she soon will be living off ‘welfare’ with the other intellectual prostitutes at the American Enterprise Institute or another such Right Wing Intellectual Red Light District.
September 15th, 2008 at 4:26 pmDumb Question: If a major figure is portrayed on SNL, in what cases does SNL not rip them to comedic shreds ?
September 15th, 2008 at 4:31 pmFrom what I’ve read, Palin has yet to sit down with or even meet the press assigned to cover her. So how did she and the press have a good laugh together over the skit?
And like the commenter above, I’m wondering just how you go about dressing up like Tina Fey.
September 15th, 2008 at 4:37 pmRAM says: And like the commenter above, I’m wondering just how you go about dressing up like Tina Fey.
Sounds like she forgot to dress up and, since people told her she looks like Tina Fey, she said, “Yeahhhhh, that’s the ticket; I’m Tina Fey.”
September 15th, 2008 at 4:44 pmHave you caught the new catch phrase from the McCain campaign? This is the second instance that I have read that someone from the McCain campaign has used the word “Disrespect”. The first one is on a McCain campaign ad that says Obama is disrespectful to Palin. Now Fiorina has stated it regarding this issue. Watch for it to be repeated over and over in the coming days. The new catchword is ‘disrespect’.
September 15th, 2008 at 4:54 pmCarly Fiorina had credibility?
When? Why didn’t anyone tell me?
September 15th, 2008 at 4:56 pmSexist? So far the most sexist remarks of all during this campaign come from the McCain whiners. They are the ones who immediately jumped on the lipstick line & applied it to Palin. No one else did. They brought sexism front & center into this campaign & should be blasted for it. Attacking others for doing so is the Repub way– attack them for what Repubs do. Looks like even the media -finally- is starting to recognize this & call them on all their smears, lies, distortions.
September 15th, 2008 at 5:04 pmCarly Fiorina is a complete joke. Please, people, stop giving this sexist woman air time. She’s the most sexist of them all, trying to portray women (Palin included) as helpless wimps afraid of any intelligent questions, and incapable of enjoying humor.
September 15th, 2008 at 5:08 pmIf it has (R) after it flush twice.
September 15th, 2008 at 5:09 pmThese people are facing war crimes and it is war for their lives. They know the damage they have done and criminals do not go down without a fight.
September 15th, 2008 at 5:10 pmLet me be a little sexist and politically incorrect by saying Who gives a sh*t what that b*tch Carly F says? Why don’t ask her about driving HP into the ground?
September 15th, 2008 at 5:37 pmThis from the person that almost ran HP into ground!!!
Sarah Paillen does have the same views as Hillary because she doesn’t have one-tenth the experience or gravitas as Hillary. Never has and never will.
Like the Beatles song – she’s a loser!
September 15th, 2008 at 5:47 pmCarly Fiorina clearly is not familiar with humour.
September 15th, 2008 at 6:19 pmRAM Says:
From what I’ve read, Palin has yet to sit down with or even meet the press assigned to cover her. So how did she and the press have a good laugh together over the skit?

As a poster stated previously, yesterday was an article where plain sat on another part of the plane while the reporters sat at another part of the plan. What I read was plain was able to watch the reporters via monitors hoot and holla at SNL.
September 15th, 2008 at 8:03 pmThe article stated she didn’t like it one bit.
SNL : need one showing Carly Fiorina whining…
September 15th, 2008 at 8:43 pmFiroina can wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up first. The problem is that Fiorina, the GOP, the neocons, John McCain and Palin are crapping in both hands.
September 15th, 2008 at 10:20 pmI’m not that big a fan of Tina Fey’s, but she’s no bloody sexist. Fey isn’t stupid enough to vote for a woman just because she’s a woman, you know.
Man, the GOP again insults this goblin’s intelligence. Tina Fey sexist! Hahahahahaha….
September 15th, 2008 at 10:50 pmSo Palin sat in another part of the plane and watched the reporters on closed circuit…. Just the watching reporters via closed circuit sounds kind of creepy to me.
But for the reporters being isolated. I can’t be too hard. She is McCain’s running mate. And it is too early to see which reporters have “earned” the priviledge of sitting up front.
September 15th, 2008 at 11:15 pmMessage to Carly Fiorina: you should research the meaning of the word satire. Last time I checked, SNL was a comedy show.
Stay out of politics and stick to what you know best: spying on employees, getting sacked, and catching a $21M golden parachute. You are McCain’s top economic adviser? No wonder he STILL thinks “the fundamentals of our economy are strong”.
Tina Fey has achieved more to advance the female gender (first female head writer at SNL, creator and head writer of 30 Rock, plus her screen successes) than you could ever possibly aspire to. You, on the other hand, do nothing but detract from the cause. You are a disgrace and I am surprised you still have the audacity to speak in public, let alone on behalf of someone running for the highest office in the land.
Dry up and disappear already, your 15 minutes were over 3 years ago!
September 16th, 2008 at 2:26 amMaybe Carly decided not to follow McCain’s example when he was asked his response to the vicious Jerome Corsi book about Senator Obama, “Gotta have a sense of humor.” Clearly Fiorina has none.
September 16th, 2008 at 2:37 am
