McCain repeats Bridge to Nowhere lie on CNN.

This morning on CNN, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) defended Gov. Sarah Palin’s record on requesting hundreds of millions of dollars worth of earmarks, and repeated the lie that Palin had opposed the Bridge to Nowhere in Alaska. “I’m proud of her record as opposing — including the Bridge to Nowhere in Alaska,” he said. Watch it:

McCain’s statement brings the total number of times his campaign has repeated the lie to 35 times. Just yesterday in Colorado, Palin herself declared that she “did tell the Congress, ‘Thanks but no thanks for that Bridge to Nowhere.’”

Double down. Triple down. Quadruple down….

  4. JosephP says:

It’s definitely scripted. So now it should be obvious that McCain has bought lock stock and barrel into the argument that he can simply create his own reality by repeating lies over and over. Any belief that his administration would be more honorable that the current one should be completely dashed by his actions.

  5. Uncle Ho says:

Mcshame & c*nt are lying their asses off, and they don’t care one whit about being called out on it in the MSM.

They really do have such utter contempt of the American people. Hitler had the same contempt of his own people in 1933.

    I’m Citizen_Pain and I approve this message.

Palin is the Paris Hilton of the republican party. All fluff, no substance. Her celebrity status will fade with a few more press feeding frenzies on whatever disaster comes next.

Although it is important to call out these lying weasels, we should focus on McCain and his marriage to the GOP’s failed policies.

  7. hussein toasterhead says:

And here’s why all the lies don’t matter:

GOP in Michigan to Use List of Foreclosed Homes to Block Voters
In election news, the Michigan Messenger reports the chairman of the Republican Party in Macomb County, Michigan is planning to use a list of foreclosed homes to block people from voting in the upcoming election as part of a Republican effort to challenge some voters on Election Day. The Republican plan to challenge voters who have defaulted on their house payments is likely to disproportionately affect African Americans who are overwhelmingly Democratic voters. In Michigan, more than 60 percent of all sub-prime loans were made to African Americans. John McCain’s campaign stands to benefit in other ways, as well, from the burgeoning number of foreclosures in Michigan. McCain’s regional headquarters are housed in the office building of foreclosure specialists Trott & Trott. The firm’s founder, David Trott, has raised between $100,000 and $250,000 for the Republican nominee.

John McCain has already won the election.

  8. citizen_pain says:

Toaster: I read somewhere, maybe crooks and liars, that this isn’t going to happen. The law is that people can present their last known place of residence/address. This would include people who are in foreclosure. Also, the foreclosure is a long and drawn out process, with the majority of people still living in their homes during the proceedings.

    NONSENSE on all three

  10. Kass says:

Didn’t he get the memo that most people aren’t buying this crap anymore? The only people that seem to be falling for it are the ones that would vote republican even if a mentally challenged monkey *George W* was running. Not that I mind it much, since the longer they keep on lying, the longer Obama can slam them for it.

Correction: The Pukes have already STOLEN the “election.”

Remember the 90 or so US Attorneys who were NOT fired for insufficient devotion to the machinations of their partisan bosses? What do you think they–who were sufficiently partisan dupes to hold onto their jobs amid a purge–have been doing these last 8 years?

They been GOPhuquing with the system. It’s over. The outcome will NOT be decided by voters, but by the counters and the fixers and the thieves…just as in the past two electoral dysfunctions, when the DIms couldn’t get it up…

  12. JMOHR says:

The real question must center around CNN’s response. Did they treat McCain as they did on the View? McCain needs to be called upon this in every interview until even his addled brain gets it. If he is not called upon it, then it is the fault of the press and there needs to be a holy war against them.

  13. Hardy Haberman says:

McCain will keep repeating this lie over and over hoping that people will believe it if they hear it enough. The sad truth is , they will. Obama must emphasize his compelling narrative about leading our country out of the mess it is in. He must hammer the issue that McCain had 25 years to change things and he didn’t, why would we trust him to do it now?

    _________

True, but that’s beside the point.

The Michigan GOP is counting on voters to not know their rights under the law. And for the ones who do know the law, they’re going to give them as much trouble as possible. The more time they spend challenging perfectly legal voters, the longer it will take to vote, the longer the lines will be, and the more people will drop out before casting their vote.

That’s how you rig an election. You don’t need to hack voting machines or manipulate vote counts – you just need to annoy enough people in your opponent’s districts.

  19. Bilbo Hussein Baggins says:

And, of course, the talking head on CNN (wannabe Fox) didn’t call him on his lie. These people have gone off the rails. Why they continue to say something that has been proven to be a lie is beyond me. Oh well, the more they lie, the better it is for the Democrats.

I have to say that I disagree with Obama’s decision not to go after Palin. He needs to confront her continued lies and confront them hard.

This is true. The Democrats need to get the same list of foreclosed residents and send them all a letter reassuring them that it is perfectly legal for them to vote and advising them to ask for an absentee ballot rather than trying to vote at their local precinct. That will take care of the problem.

  21. Tired of being lied to says:

Back in the early 1960’s, my sister received a “Chatty Cathy” doll for Christmas one year. The doll had a string protruding from her back, and each time you pulled it she repeated one of four of five different phrases. It was kind of a cute novelty – at first.

But it soon became apparent that this was all this doll could do – repeat those same annoying phrases over and over and over again. It was fun and amusing at first, and then it got real annoying. With only those same four or five phrases it became almost torturous, and I wanted her to either learn to say something different, or shut the hell up.

Thanks, Sarah, for reminding me of my childhood.

In your Democracy Now! paste, it mentions that because most of the foreclosures are to African-Americans, this would disproportionately hit voters likely to vote for Obama.

I believe that ANYONE whose home is getting foreclosed on will be more likely to vote for Obama, regardless of color (or even party registration).

That’s why this gambit is a winner with the Republicans. If they could disenfranchise everyone who is especially hurt by today’s economy, they would. It’s disgusting.

“We’ll Shake them Down” is what he meant to say…

  24. McWars says:

It goes to show you that being fact-checked by multiple news and policy outlets and being cornered in an interview on national television won’t stop this vindicative person from going right back to the campaign trail to repeat the same lies. Take this as a really good preview
of how McCain and Sarah would thumb their nose at any form of accountability.

If John McCain was any sort of maverick, I wouldn’t expect that to continue in the White House. He would treat both houses of congress as a discard from a past life.

  27. Tawdry says:

Really the majority of Americans are not well informed. Sometimes I think Thomas Jefferson was right when he suggested that people should have to pass an intelligence test before they would be allowed to vote. Not exactly correct in a democracy. People like flashy and McCain’s people knew it and they selected the flashiest they could find. Never mind her lack of experience and all the baggage she carries with her. Also McCain was so revered by reporters that as a result the “maverick” and “reformer” labels stuck. Now at last all the major newspapers have come down hard on all the lying by both McCain and Palin, but is it too late to influence the independents? It really is a shame that independents who have no real convictions nearly always decide the outcome of the presidential elections.

This is one of the reasons why the Obama workers here in North Carolina will be phoning and ringing doorbells like mad just before Election Day, and also during the early voting period. We will be contacting every single registered Democrat we can reach.

We want to make sure we uncover as many people as possible who have received ambiguous “voter registration” or “absentee ballot” mail from the opposition, or who have gotten robocalls suggesting they aren’t registered. Our aim is to assure registered voters that they ARE registered, ensure they have accurate voting information, and debunk any misleading garbage they have heard or read.

It will be a big job, but necessary. I’m sure Obama people in all battleground states will be doing the same.

What cracks me up about McBush/Palin is that they are both bragging that they have stood up to the big-bad Republican party and yet they want you to vote for the party they stood up to. You don’t stand up to something/someone unless they are doing something wrong. So why would they want you to vote for someone/something who is doing things wrong?

The people that go see pigalin are there just to hear her say her little catch phrase. “I sure do hope she says the line!” Kind of like the episode of the simpsons when bart got his fame from breaking something, claiming “I didn’t do it” then going on the circuit repeating “I didn’t do it” on every media outlet, getting known as the “I didn’t do it” kid.

I begin to go from “why are they lying (with half truth/half lies)?.

Now I more convinced John is being told the rest of the world is wrong and their just trying to bring down his Veep.

John McCain most likely believes these Palin-anonomys simply because he trusts his campaign people when they tell him what to beleive.

McCain is isolated from the rest of America for his campaign. No doubt he will be like this but on steriods if president.
