O’Reilly: The current ‘economic chaos…is the end of President Bush’s legacy.’

On his radio show yesterday, conservative talker Bill O’Reilly concluded that the current “economic chaos” on Wall Street spells “the end of President Bush’s legacy.” Citing Bush’s “poor leadership,” O’Reilly declared:

He’s done. He’s through. … He will now go down in history…as an ineffectual leader. And I’ll tell you the reason why, it’s poor leadership on his part. The people that he picked to run certain things have been disastrous. And no leadership and now Americans are getting hurt.

Someone should check on BillO. Clearly someone has slipped something into his coffee and caused him to lose control of his mouth. When BillO’s trash-talking Dubya, you know the party is over.

  2. Zooey says:

    How generous of Billo.

I think the end of any legacy was Katrina.

    Anyone else?

  3. Shayne says:

O’Reilly is PROUDLY the last to know that Bush is the worst president ever. And by the way, Billo, W is unfit to shine Jimmy Carter’s shoes.

    – - Gosh Bill, that’s some ballsy statement, ALL things considered.

  5. spencers mom says:

And who bears some responsibility for encouraging another four years of that disaster in 2004? And who is advocating for another four years in 2008?

That would be you, BillO. Yes, you and your cronies.

You can’t simply wash your hands of what you supported for nearly eight years with some strong words of comdemnation now.

I’m guessing he has what a lot of Americans have: fetal alcohol syndrome which deprives them of a consience.

  12. misshusseinmolly says:

OK, Bill-o appears to be the last to realize how awful the Bush presidency has been for this country, but at least he realizes it.

Now, can he explain to us how he thinks a McCain presidency would be an improvement? WITHOUT using the terms “maverick” or “POW”?

Billo and the right wing maniacs would pray that would be the end of the Bush legacy. But the last time they prayed was for rain on the Democratic party convention and God gave them Hurricanes like “IKE” in Texas (their republican bastille).

Bush has more legacy to go that Americans will have to endure for quite some time. Their will be more financial legacy as well as a decider, War guy president type dude and the torture blowback smacks us let alone the foreign dissasterous policies in play. That Bush will be out when it returns to roost.

  26. hanshiro says:

Let’s be clear: Like the Tweety post earlier, these republican mouthpieces have NOT come to any epiphanies.

They have decided, in the interest of ratings, to throw bush under the bus. Why? Not because of human rights violations, illegal war, or gouging oil prices…

    ..you guessed it-money.

Doubtless their portfolios took a beating along with their Nielson points.

What to do? Jump ship, of course…it’s what rats always do, particularly if they were the very ones chewing holes in the hull.

Not judging but why would you expose your child to public school? It’s not like education is a priority there.

We took our kids out of school in elementary school and have never regretted it.

My youngest was an engineering intern for the city last summer and he went to the field for something one day. There was a ditch with a water line…..

In the ditch with shovel was two of the graduates of the public school system….they didn’t recognize my son and he said nothing but we found it to be very ironic.

If he objected I would tell him not to make me release the flying monkeys

  43. stateofthedivision says:

Bill is repeating the “non-Republican talking points”. They’ve jettisoned George and their party name like a used condom. They’re going to clean up sordid Washington!

Strict father model McCain can and will do it, if he remembers how or a commission tells him what to do. Harpie Palin sings a song of reform, causing voters’ financial ships to crash into the cliffs.

Bill, quit your McCon-Pullin’ and just tell the truth. McCain-Palin is more of the same. If you want no leadership, vote Republican…

  44. judyinnm says:

Interesting what it takes for O’Reilly to consider Bush’s administration a failure – policies that adversely affect rich folks (like O’Reilly) and large corporations. Doing nothing to prevent the attack on the World Trade Center (although he had warning of an imminent attack), getting us into two disasterous wars, and making time to celebrate John McCain’s birthday (though on vacation)while ignoring the destruction of NOLA by Katrina; none of these affected O’Reilly’s high opinion of Bush’s legacy. Fascinating, what some people value….

  45. Evil Spaniard says:

So NOW Bush is accountable for the misdeeds of his nominees?

  46. blip_blap says:

Don’t get too excited. If O’Reilly is reading from the GOP playbook, then they have determined that the only way for McCain to win is to throw Bush under the bus and run away. But the McCain camp will need surrogates to do this dirty work. This is likely calculated. If Hannity says something similar, then we will know for sure.

If this is not part of new GOP talking points, several other possibilities:

    A) Fox is reading the writing on the wall. First, Megyn Kelly goes after Tucker Bounds and now O’Reilly smacks down Bush. Fox is now the “Fair and Balanced” home for right leaning centrists.

B)Bill O’Reilly is speaking his mind and will either 1)recant, 2)never say anything like this ever again, 3)deny he said it, 4)explain how it meant something totally different, or 5)launch a daily assault on the White House. Maddow’s getting good ratings and maybe O’Reilly wants some of the left-leaning ratings booty.

Curiously enough, civics is “the study or science of the privileges and obligations of citizens.” (I cite from dictionary.com). And politics is the art of governing people, so I find the use of the apellative “Zippy the Pinhead” referred to a public politic figure perfectly fit in that moment.

  63. regular_joe says:

O’Reilly: the current “economic chaos” on Wall Street spells “the end of President Bush’s legacy.”

As usual, BillO is behind the curve. What chucklehead’s like BillO don’t seem to get it that the current economic chaos on Wall Street IS Bush’s legacy, or at least, a part of it. It’s a legacy of total failure.

The “Bush Economic Miracle” that conservatives have been touting since he was installed has finally come to fruition. Unfortunately for chimpy’s Repug handlers, unlike his excellent Iraqi adventure, his “economic miracle” did not last until he was safely out of office.

It is odd that BillO has only noticed what he calls “Bush’s poor leadership” within the last couple of days. Most people, at least those not suffering from conservative “head up the ass” syndrome, first noticed this problem on 9/11/2001. You know, the day that Bush continued to sit on is ass in that Florida classroom even AFTER he was told that America was under attack.

    NO!
    Bush’s legacy ended September 12th, 2001.
When he had the whole country behind him.
When he had the whole world behind us.
But unfortunately, instead of using the non partisan role to better the world, he (and his cohorts) began hatching a plan to purposely mislead everyone for an unwarranted “war”, to benefit those who would most profit from said “war”, the 1%’ers.
Everything after was (and is) just the side effects of a mismanaged and incompetent administration.
    Worst.
    President.
    Ever.

  68. Pete Tagliani says:

He can say this because Bush isn’t up for re-election. Bill only criticizes the right when it is strategically safe and advantageous to do so.
I’ve got to give it up this Chris Matthews for eloquently nailing this Republican game plan of pretending to distance themselves from the Republican brand of the last eight years.
They know that McCain can’t ride in to the White House on Bush’s momentum. So they’re pretending that McCain is going to bring a new kind of conservatism, different than the past.
Seems like the past few GOP candidates had to do the very same thing to win. A promise of “Compassionate conservatism” from Bush and “a kinder gentler” approach from Bush senior.
A promise that this time will be different.

John McCain is now Pro- Worker and Anti- Wall St. Change we can FALL For.

Republicans are responsible for the mess we are in. Bush is just an Incompetent and UnMotivated Figure Head. Woodward’s Book claims Bush didn’t even get involved in Discussions about Iraq’s surge, and left it to Hadley to come up with something.

  87. sectionop92 says:

It’s funny when the Bush/Cheney Nazi ground troops take off their uniforms and switch them to the McCain USA, USA! allies as they now face certain defeat on the political battlefield.

The last eight years don’t count starting today, eh Bill?

  88. sectionop92 says:

“When the stock portfolios hit the floor, Bush and friends must be thrown out the White House door!”

  89. pastcaring says:

    Zooey Says:

I think the end of any legacy was Katrina.

    Anyone else?
    _________

I vote for: when the Supreme Court appointed the a$$ ho

  90. wizard2000 says:

Finally, FINALLY, Bill O’Reilly actually says something truthful about the worst and most criminal administration in American history…and the only reason I can think of is that Bill-O was a major shareholder in one of these corporations that has tanked due to the Republican obsession to deregulate all the enterprises their crony pals (and major campaign contributors) run…enterprises where the corporate executives get the golden parachutes while all the shareholders (and the American taxpayer) get the shaft.

No wonder Bill-O demanded and got such a huge contract recently. He lost his “stuffed” shirt playing the market.

  91. wearechange says:

the ONLY – and i repeat, ONLY – reason bill turns on this administration is because he needs to maintain public favor so can continue propagandizing for the powers that be. bush is expendable, his term ends soon. o’reilly needs to keep his job [as a cia agent] regardless of who the president is, and not for the paycheck but to continue promoting the agenda [lying] for his true masters. if people suspect his true loyalties
