Alaska has 3,879 million barrels of Crude oil reserves, which is 18.5% of the US Total Reserve.

Maybe that is where she is getting the 20% figure. Gov. Palin must be confusing Reserves with Production…not a good mistake for a self styled Energy Expert.

Not only are Palin and McCain confusing Reserves with Production, they are also confusing Oil with Energy. Oil isn’t energy, it’s fuel. But even if they meant Alaska provides 20% of the FUEL used for energy, it would be wrong, since we have sources for energy other than oil in this country.
