McHoover's just estimating what the American economy will be like if we put him in charge of it.

What little will be left after W. Hoover (or is it Woover) s done with it.

twenty percent is just so much more easy to remember than that pesky 3.5, it just such a nice, round number...

Wait--they didn't have decimals when McCan't was a POW

Good one Ralph :),

But I'm afraid Speaker Pelosi will have to Use that table for the Government Fire Sale.

What's proposed is the Nationalization of all the Bad Debt in America. The full Faith and credit of the Government backing up all the Mistakes and Sleazy Deals created by the Unfettered Capitalists.

The Bush/McCain Plan...

Privitize Profits

Socialize Risk

Badger Says:
From today’s NY Times:

Mr. Bernanke and Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr. had made an urgent and unusual evening visit to Capitol Hill, and they were gathered around a conference table in the offices of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

Badger, thanks for that link, but, to me, the most striking thing about the article is the revelation that Nancy Pelosi has a table in her offices!

Couldn't she think of a good use for it?

Badger: "McCain’s and Palin’s comments were an attack on Obama, Lobbyists, and Influence Peddlers followed by NO Questions from the Press."

He's just a disgrace. It's beyond belief that the myth of John McCain has brought him this far, but I think people are finally getting the idea - this man is one of the most shameful opportunists and one of the biggest liars in the Senate and he has been for a long time.

From today's NY Times:

Mr. Bernanke and Treasury Secretary Henry M. Paulson Jr. had made an urgent and unusual evening visit to Capitol Hill, and they were gathered around a conference table in the offices of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

...the congressional leaders were told “that we’re literally maybe DAYS AWAY from a COMPLETE MELTDOWN of our financial system, with all the implications here at home and globally.”

Maybe we are headed for an October Surprise that No one was expecting.

Obama gave his prepared talk on the current Economic Situation. He said...
"John McCain and I can continue to argue about our different economic agendas for next year, but we should come together now to work on what this country urgently needs this year."
and then HELD a PRESS Conference.

McCain's and Palin's comments were an attack on Obama, Lobbyists, and Influence Peddlers followed by NO Questions from the Press.

Hopefully the Voters can see which Candidate is acting more Presidential.

There is reason to believe that broad swaths of the mainstream media are turning on McCain. I think he may actually be embarassing them into speaking up and breaking through this mythic narrative McCain has been able to build over the years about his character.

Both of the main political writers for Time and Newsweek have been massive McCain fans for years and they're obviously fed up. Matthews has been singing hero songs about McCain since the early 90's and he's just obviously not buying anything anymore. Even the ridiculous old crackpot David Broder seems to be losing his manlove for Saint McCain. This might all work itself out.

Has McCain taken credit for creating the Xbox or fire yet? Maybe he'll amend his POW story and say he walked to the Hanoi Hilton to show the North Vietnamese what America is all about.

The man is bouncing around more than Robin Williams after an all-night cocaine bender.

Alaska has 3,879 million barrels of Crude oil reserves, which is 18.5% of the US Total Reserve.

Maybe that is where she is getting the 20% figure. Gov. Palin must be confusing Reserves with Production…not a good mistake for a self styled Energy Expert.

Not only are Palin and McCain confusing Reserves with Production, they are also confusing Oil with Energy. Oil isn't energy, it's fuel. But even if they meant Alaska provides 20% of the FUEL used for energy, it would be wrong, since we have sources for energy other than oil in this country.

Chuck Feney Says:

Expert ban?

_______

Considering Palin's well-estabished track record of disdain for facts and science denial, I'd say a ban on experts is the cornerstone of the McGee/McDodderington platform.
