A new American Research Group poll shows that “[n]o Americans say that the national economy is getting better,” while 82 percent say it is getting much worse. Only 17 percent approve of President Bush’s handling of the economy, with 78 percent disapproving. Even among Republicans, more disapprove of his economic performance than approve:
Among Republicans, 46% approve of the way Bush is handling the economy and 48% disapprove. Among Democrats, 97% disapprove of the way Bush is handling the economy and 2% approve. Among independents, 8% approve and 87% disapprove of the way Bush is handling the economy.
Bush’s overall approval rating fell to 19 percent, from 30 percent last month, with 76 percent disapproving.

September 22nd, 2008 at 11:27 amZero percent of Americans think national economy is improving.

September 22nd, 2008 at 11:28 amDoes that mean Phil Gramm vanishes in a puff of smoke?
September 22nd, 2008 at 11:29 amAs the meltdown on Wall Street continues, American voters would do well to regard John McCain and his Republican Party with suspicion when it comes to the resuscitating the economy. But McCain’s acknowledged ignorance on economic issues, happy talk about strong “fundamentals,” ties to lobbyists and disturbing involvement in the 1980’s savings and loan disaster aren’t the only reasons voters should flock to Barack Obama for solutions to the mushrooming financial crisis. As history has proven time and again, Wall Street and the economy overall simply do better under Democratic presidents.
For the details, see:

_______
First of all, the term “mulatto,” does not apply to Senator Obama. In the United States and Latin America the term has traditionally referred to mixed-race persons descended from West African slaves. As the Senator from Illinois is the son of an East African whose family was not enslaved in the New World, the term is completely irrelevant, and an obvious attempt to offend.
Secondly, Obama’s economic plan has plenty of specifics, and takes a much more holistic approach to the complexities of the economy, recognizing that it’s not just about regulation and oversight in the financial sector.
Thirdly, Ralph Nader has the luxury of not being a viable candidate. He can put out as many specifics as possible and fill his platform with as many corporate-bashing provisions as he wants, because he knows there’s not a chance in hell that he’ll be elected and have to actually push these measures through Congress.
Don’t get me wrong – I like Ralph Nader as a consumer advocate and a rabble-rouser. His is a voice that needs to be heard during the election season. Just not as a candidate.
