Our pressure is working. Already this week, TrueMajority members have made almost 20,000 calls to tell their Senators “NO” to the Bush corporate bailout. Now news is beginning to come out that some lawmakers, Republicans and Democrats alike, are having second thoughts about going along with the administration’s plan.

I would consider holding the debate as scheduled on Friday. (If Obama agrees to postpone this he must suggest a date in the very near future to be clear that he wants it to happen.) Then, he should say “I will not suspend my campaign but instead I am on my way to DC. While there, I will be working with my colleagues on this and I will regularly address the people to explain my economic policy. The situation is serious and needs to be addressed, but there is no need to panic and suspend the campaign.
