Palin team says ‘they are done answering questions’ about Troopergate.

McCain campaign officials said yesterday that “they are done answering questions” about Sarah Palin’s firing of Alaska’s former Public Safety Commissioner. Palin’s lawyers have agreed to “general parameters of immediate cooperation” with the investigation she requested from the state Personnel Board, which hired Anchorage lawyer Timothy Petumenos to conduct the inquiry. Palin spokeswoman Meg Stapleton said the state investigator has “asked to keep things confidential, so we will respect those wishes”:

“The governor waived confidentiality, and Mr. Petumenos has just stated as of this moment that he would like for things to remain confidential,” Stapleton said. “So that is why we are telling you as of today, we are no longer going to be discussing aspects of this as directed by Mr. Petumenos.”

The Bush White House has frequently offered this same excuse, refusing to comment on “ongoing investigations.”

  2. The Dogfather says:

Actually, TP, after Sarah the Mute’s lack of press availability, a more correct headline would read Palin team says ‘they are done answering questions’.”

  3. Alecto says:

Oops. that was for the McCain healthcare thread. What is happening in TP world?

  4. Alecto says:

What happened to the thread about MCain’s health advisor only JOKING that “there is no one without health insurance.”
    ? It came, it went.

If I’m ever audited by the IRS, or if I ever find myself as a defendant in court, can I use the “I’m done answering questions and I’m moving on” ruse, too? I wonder if Bill Clinton could have used that excuse?

I’ll be curious to see if the October report ever sees the light of day up in Alaska. Branchflower better make sure he doesn’t go anywhere with antlers on his head.

    PEACE

  6. Marie says:

What do they mean they are through answering questions on troopergate — they haven’t answered any have they? They have made their declarations, defied subpoenaes, and turned the state of Alaska to the McCain campaign.

But maybe that is OK because they would like to secede form the USA anyway.

  7. Lungman424 says:

“Palin team says ‘they are done answering questions’ about Troopergate.”…Rats, I must have been sleeping during the time they WERE answering questions…

  8. DieNowForPeace says:

The “Filthy Whore” is NOT just the name of Cabin Boy’s ship.

  9. theswan says:

If you don’t like your judge, march right in an choose the one you do like.
It appears Alaskan justice is oh so similar to that of Washington.

  10. Kay says:

I tell you right now: if this country votes for McStain/Pallid — we get exactly what we deserve.

These 2 charaltans should be hung out to dry.

  11. Kay says:

    #10: spelling. (charlatans)

  12. DvlsAdvocat says:

Another perfect example of why a McCain Presidency will be indistinguishable from a third Bush term.

I’m sure they will stonewall through the election if necessary, and if any questions ARE forced on them, it will be another afternoon of “I don’t recalls”……meanwhile, the media will parrot the “partisan/sexist attack” storyline, to soften any possible negative opinions of Chief Moose Slayer.

  13. Art says:

How can they be “done” with something they haven’t started yet?

  14. plasticgoat says:

Done answering questions? When did they start? Must have missed it.

  15. The Republic of Stupidity says:

Pretty obvious what their strategy is here, isn’t it?

Continue to cooperate w/ the investigation of herself that Palin requested, whilst refusing to deal w/ the State mandated one. The McCain camp will keep insisting Sarah has no need to talk to Branchflower, as that investigation has become “hopelessly partisan” and therefore has no validity.

Any lawyers present? Care to legally define “hopelessly partisan” and “no validity”?
And how, legally, they’re grounds for blowing off subpoenas?

  16. Kay says:

They’ll continue to dodge the press and all legal aspects of “troopergate” until the election.

sounds like deja vu from the past 8 years.

  17. Kay says:

Maybe there’ll be a new Sunday morning talk show that will show Pallid and McStain running with rifles from the press and they can call it “Dodge the Press” (instead of “Meet the Press”)

  18. galmud says:

Hilarious how Palin refuses to cooperate with the investigation because its “tainted by partisan politics” due to presidential election. Despite the fact the probe was agreed upon unanimously by 8 Republicans and 4 Democrats long before Palin was even picked VP candidate.

“Partisan politics” have nothing to do with the investigation but it has everything to do with her sudden refusal to cooperate.

  19. christopher wiwi says:

When did she ever answer any real questions on Troopergate??????

  20. Kay says:

Is “troopergate” a diversion from the $700B rip-off going on right before our very eyes?

  21. LiberalVoter says:

Or is the $700 Billion rip-off partly cover for ‘Troopergate’ and a whole load of other shady McCain/Palin wrong-doings?

  22. liberal traitor says:

    Kay and LV:

    It’s a bit of both.

I had a REALLY CREEPY experience last night…remember Weekly Standard editor Fred Barnes? Remember how yesterday we read about him saying (the night before I believe) that if you changed the wording from “BAILOUT” which is such a dirty sounding word to “RESCUE” everyone would be behind it?

Well, I ended up watching some MSM ‘news’ last night for once, just because my roommate was watching it.

I can’t recall even ONE person using the word bailout. It was rescue, rescue, rescue…

I seem to remember the word bailout being bandied about on the MSM before yesterday…

    It’s like fu(king 1984…

  23. Kay says:

I’m beginning to think that BushCO wants this mess “clean and quick” — sounds, oh so mafioso to me.

I think they have something else up their sleeve these last 3 months. And it’s going to be a doozy. I don’t know what it’s going to be — it’s something that would take up Congress’ attention — so let’s help my Wall St. buddies first.

  24. Hemlock for Gadflies says:

    Holy Smokes! What a surprise!

The McSame/Paltry campaign is bunch of lying sacks of sh*te.

    I can hardly believe it.

  25. Kay says:

    #24:

    I know.
I can hardly contain myself with by the element of this surprise.

  26. Neoke says:

Liberal traitor: Down the memory hole for all of us =[

Hey Gov. Palin. You’re done answering questions about Troopergate, are you?

In that case, I suggest that the American voting public any sense of decorum or dare I say “deference” that might be shown a candidate running for the second highest office in the land is misplaced, and we treat your candidacy as the joke its always been.

  27. fletc3her says:

Palin seems pretty damn scared to go in front of reporters and answer questions about anything.

  28. LiberalVoter says:

Kay, LT, you are right. It is all meant to be smoke and mirrors to provide cover for McCain/Palin. No scrutiny allowed.

  29. Exit Stage Left says:

I don’t recall her answering any questions about it. Or about anything else, for that matter. Unless you count the two patronizing, asinine interviews where she had the questions in advance. Are there that many stooopid people?

  30. paleolib says:

Other than softballs lobbed by the likes of Sean Insanity neither of them are really answering questions about anything at this point. Saw a great yard sign yesterday by the way using the McCain/Palin colors except that it read “Reckless/Inexperienced”.

  31. Fred says:

    fletc3her Says:
Palin seems pretty damn scared to go in front of reporters and answer questions about anything.

So is mccain. They have a message they want to put forward and answering any questions would jepordize their message because the message is a lie…..simple.

We see this behavior in children every day…..

  32. Kay says:

I can just see the questions at the debate:

for Pallid: How do you make Mooseburge pie?
for Biden: Can you describe in detail you plan for Afghanistan?

  33. Doc Rock says:

Done? Done? When did they start?

  34. kasinca says:

Just what we need, more secrecy from a crime family. This trailer trash does not belong in DC. That is a period. Change subject.

  35. EugeneDebs says:

The media ought to just keep asking the questions until they are answered. If the Mcdipsy camp wants the media to carry THEIR message they shouldnt do anything but keep asking thw questions and not allow them to run talking points around them and keep asking NOTHING ELSE until the questions are answered.

  36. tombaker says:

Well, that’s OK, because I’ve heard more lies than I care to already, and I’ve already decided that Mrs. Palin is as crooked and dishonest as they come – and nothing they could possibly say will change my mind about that.

  37. squidbilly says:

Hopefully more of the electorate will be over McDrain/Bailin also.

No accountability at all? What wonderful leadership skills.

  38. Bilbo Hussein Baggins says:

They are “done” answering questions about Troopergate? When exactly did they “start” answering questions? In order to be “done” with something you have to have “started” doing it in the first place.

  39. Bilbo Hussein Baggins says:

If you want to read a really good article about what Sarah Palin is doing with Troopergate, read this:

    http://mudflats.wordpress.com/2008/09/23/palin-investigation-vs-palin-investigation-the-basics/

This is something that should be published in all the MSM. Sarah Barracuda is scamming us by claiming she is “cooperating” with the investigation. That is just another lie.

  40. Winski says:

Final proof this is a cover up…

  41. Max-1 says:

  42. drago says:

Remember, there are now TWO Troopergate investigations. The Real one by the State Legislature which started months ago is still ongoing with a Report due Oct. 10. This is the one voted unanimously by an 8 Republican and 4 Democrat legislature.

Then there is the one started be Palin recently by filing a complaint against herself. This is known as the Personnel Board investigation with three of her hand-picked Board doing the investigating. This is now the one she has no comment about. She also has the ability to fire the Personnel Board. This “investigation” is a scam.

  43. GL2814 says:

Fundamentalist Barbie sure has some nerve. If I took that position, I’m sure I’d be handed a first class ticket to prison!

  44. sacopenapa says:

We are not ‘done’ about asking more questions about that and many more! How old do you think the Earth is? How old are the dinosaurs? What did you mean when you said the Iraq invasion and occupation was “A task from God”?
