KKK plans to show up at tonight’s debate.

The Mississippi White Knights of the Ku Klux Klan plan to appear at the University of Mississippi for tonight’s debate, the university’s student newspaper reports. The emperor confirmed to the Daily Mississippian that KKK members and officers would be on site, but would not demonstrate publicly:

The Mississippi White Knights will have officers and Klansmen on hand for the presidential debate on September 26, 2008. Our people will be in Oxford and on the campus ‘invisible.’ That means our people won’t be in regalia or demonstrating. So, I guess you’ll just have to guess which of the people present are Klansmen.

The author of the article, a senior at Ole Miss, told the Wall Street Journal, “Everybody thinks it’s pretty chilling.”

  5. Cats r Flyfishn Says:

No big deal. The KKK are everywhere. Don't get me wrong, I don't approve of them. It's just that racism is still here. Funny thing is that the KKK thinks of itself as a Christian organization. We are all the same in God's eyes but for some reason they can't model themselves after the very God that they claim to worship.

  6. gummitch Says:

Maybe the white guys gritting their teeth and hissing "n____r" whenever Obama speaks . . .

  7. krazeeinjun Says:

What kind of human failure is a member of the KKK in the year 2008? If ever a group of people deserved to be sitting in Gitmo it's these sheet-wearing a-holes.

    Just saying . . .

  8. Bushie Says:

That idiots of the KKK showing up and later, presumably voting for McSame, if they can read the ballot, demonstrates how many otherwise intelligent whites would vote for McSame over Obama. McSame is demonstrably suffering some kind of mental problem, loves living on the edge (gambling, multiple plane crashes, women)is wrong headed on the middle east, doesn't know squat about business or the economy, but he's white and Obama isn't.

  9. Cats r Flyfishn Says:

Zooey - you're correct. The Democrats kicked the living shit out of the KKK two years ago during the general election in my precinct. I live in southeast Pennsylvania and I hate to say that the KKK is alive and well. I'll never understand bigotry.

  10. Imichael Says:

Probably led by Ted Nugent and the rest of the FoxNews crew. God Bless America.

  11. Zooey Says:

    Cats,

We chased 'em out of Idaho. We still have ignorant fools, like everywhere else, but at least they're not organized. :-D

  12. spencers mom Says:

As John "Let the Eagle Soar" Ashcroft said, we can use this as cover to do the things we've been wanting to do.

Round 'em up, lock 'em up.

Can't think of a better way to deal with the KKK than letting them spend a good long time in prison, any prison. Can you imagine how popular a Klansman would be in prison?

When it comes to the KKK and neoNazis, I have a really hard time with Free Speech.

Now, let me go donate to the ACLU. They are better people than I am.

    PEACE

  13. Cats r Flyfishn Says:

The KKK are part of the homegrown mercenaries that work the border between the US and Mexico, their goal of course, is to keep out people of color. If you saw these as sholes on the street, you wouldn't suspect anything. As soon as they open their mouth, then you know that they are homegrown terrorists.

  14. Buckie Boy Says:

Wonder why their little club doesn't show it's ugly head here in Seattle?

Hope they enjoy the butt kicking that McGonnaDieSoon is going to get.

  15. Cats r Flyfishn Says:

Z - they still march in PA. About 3 years ago, they tried to hold a march in Valley Forge National Park but something happened to prevent the march. There were only about 10 of them, which is 10 too many.

  18. tom Says:

Speaking of tonight's debate, here's a little bit of deja vu from McNumbNuts' 2000 campaign for his party's nomination. Some things never change . . . once a grandstander, always a grandstander.

With new polls showing his campaign dead in the water among California Republicans, Arizona Sen. John McCain has pulled out of a long-scheduled debate with Texas Gov. George Bush, set for Thursday in Los Angeles. . . . Top campaign officials attributed McCain’s decision to Bush’s earlier reluctance to appear at the debate. “We had agreed to do this debate a long time ago, and Gov. Bush said he wasn’t going to do it,” McCain spokesman Howard Opinsky said yesterday. “We aren’t going to hold our schedule together forever.”

. . .Still, just last week, the McCain campaign was openly derisive of Bush’s reluctance to commit to a California debate — and promised its own candidate would be there. “John McCain believes it’s important for the people of California to see and hear the candidates talk about the issues,” McCain communications director Dan Schnur told The Chronicle last week. “Thirty- three million Californians are worth that attention . . . and we’ll be there, either way.”

“Clearly, this is more double-talk from the McCain campaign,” said Alixe Mattingly, a spokeswoman for Bush. “Pulling out of this debate at the last minute is an indication that they’re pulling out of California, where McCain’s antagonistic message clearly isn’t working.”. . . “From a distance, it seems like the ‘Straight Talk Express’ is careening off the exit ramp in California,” said Leslie Goodman, a Republican communications consultant and Bush backer, in a reference to McCain’s campaign bus. “They claimed they’d make California a priority because it was win or die, and now they don’t care enough to debate.”

  19. upside99 Says:

Maybe they will be the ones with Rebel flag pins (made in China) and holding McDepends/Flailin signs.

Or maybe you would have to take off their shoes to see which ones have 6 toes and look for the name of their first cousin/wife tattoed over their heart.

  20. Shayne Says:

We all know people who won't vote for Obama because he is black. They're not so much different than the KKK folks.

Wonder why they had to have this published in the paper? A lot of people will be there. It sounds like an intimidation tactic to me.

    Evil lurks everywhere. :(

Anyone care to wager if Fox will air McCain political ads during breaks in the debate?

    Anyone?

  30. SpoxLogic Says:

Why bother guessing who's KKK or not? If they aren't dressed up or carrying signs, how does that make tonight any different from any other day when they are walking the UMiss campus?

Christians? Those Kooky Klucks Klansmen aren't even the same race as Jesus was!

  32. texaslady Says:

Silly me, I thought this world had moved further up on the food chain.

  33. misshusseinmolly Says:

Most Klansmen (and women) appear as ordinary people when they aren't wearing their robes, burning crosses, or demonstrating. These people who will be at the debate incognito are around us all the time. No reason why the debate should be any different.

However, normally they don't advertise they are going to be somewhere. That is an intimidation tactic designed to strike fear in the hearts of those they don't like (non-white, Catholics, Jews, atheists -- a large portion of Americans). Yet there is nothing to fear unless they band together and become visible. Alone, they are cowards.

    Ohh scary! Spot the Klansmen!
I'm going to guess it's the ones who appear comically impotent with misdirected rage. Do these guys really think they strike fear anymore? They are scary only in that they are dangerously dumb. Like a drunk driver.
Perhaps they won't be in "regalia or demonstrating" because all the "emperor" could muster was six guys in a pick-up truck.

  41. Game of Life Says:

I'm so sick of the repugs talkingheads. I'm glad we have Olbermann and Maddow.

I remember reading a similar statement about the Neo- Conservatives around 2002 or so. I seem to recall the tone of article/interview was that they were ancient history and no longer had any influence within the Republican party. The interviewee was a republican of course.

What a grift that was. I wouldn't be too quick to underestimate these lunatics.

  43. jaramilr Says:

So the KKK members are going to be sitting politely in the audience like everyone else? Oooh scary.

And doesn't their announcement just remind us who they are voting for, making voting for John McCain seem even worse?

Maybe we'll be lucky and they will actually listen to what Obama has to say and possibly learn something. Maybe having KKK members trapped in an auditorium listening to Obama is not such a bad thing after all.

    Chucky
You're damn right about Byrd. He's like a walking time capsule. He comes from a time when the Democratic Party was chock full o' racists.
But then LBJ signed the Civil Rights Act, and he predicted that the Democrats were going to lose the South. He was correct. Guess which party those disgruntled voters flocked to?
Thus was born the GOP's southern strategy. I'd be happy to kick Byrd out of the party, but there's no way the GOP could survive without those voters.

Or when the killer is a WOMAN like say Laura Bush she becomes the First lady. You are such a putrid piece of garbage. Do the world a favor and give yourself a vascectomy with a pair of rusty wirecutters. Then clean your mommys basement before you go out to play with the other special children. Make sure you look both ways before crossing the street someone as stupid as you can easily become a speedbump and dont forget that little chore with the rusty wirecutters

  63. Keith Says:

Chuckles (aka Mr Pee), write, telephone, or email the KKK and ask them if they prefer Republicans or Democrats. Ask them if they prefer conservatives or liberals. Ask them if they prefer McCain or Obama. Careful, you might get your head blown off with the last one!

cetCompanies like that have been pushing deregulation in that market heavily. They've removed Bedava mp3 indirbasic bankruptcy protections entirely. They've managed to get things federally guaranteed.
