What is going on with John McCain's face?

Moments before becoming confused on stage, October 1, 2008, his face repeatedly twitched, or convulsed. Some have suggested a mini-stroke. He also becomes lost when leaving the stage.

McDenial needs to understand that medical records ARE NOT the "gotcha question" he makes it out to be...
... We the People have reason to be fully informed.

And electoral-vote.com says Barack 280-190 over McCain

fivethirtyeight.com says odds are about 5-1 against McCain winning.

All that before Palin opens her mouth tomorrow!

You hate Carter? In 1978 I could easily find a job for $24,000 per year and my rent in Los Angeles was $200 per month! The USA was the world's greatest creditor nation and our total debt was less than one trillion dollars.

It's Dubya that's given us the worst economy since the Great Depression of Harding-Coolidge-Hoover!

Well, if it ain't our troll "John (it's f'n over) Kerry"! Where you been? Su(k on this:

Polls: Obama leads in critical trio of states
By LIZ SIDOTI (Associated Press Writer)
From Associated Press
October 01, 2008 6:52 AM EDT
WASHINGTON - Recently trailing or tied, Democrat Barack Obama now leads Republican John McCain in a trio of the most critical, vote-rich states five weeks before the election, according to presidential poll results released Wednesday.

The Democrat's support jumped to 50 percent or above in Ohio, Florida and Pennsylvania in Quinnipiac University surveys taken during the weekend - after the opening presidential debate and during Monday's dramatic stock market plunge as the House rejected a $700 billion financial bailout plan.

Pollsters attributed Obama's improved standing to the public's general approval of his debate performance, antipathy toward GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin and heightened confidence in the Illinois senator's ability to handle the economic crisis.

The fresh polling is the latest troublesome turn for McCain, the Arizona senator who is trying to regain control of the campaign conversation amid increasingly difficult circumstances for Republicans. It comes on the eve of a debate between Palin and her Democratic counterpart, Joe Biden, and as the financial crisis shapes the presidential race in unpredictable ways.

For now and probably for the next month, the race will be entirely about who can best handle an economy in peril.

I guess I am in the minority here. I actually think releasing medical records should only be done on a voluntary basis. This is a slippery slope issue for me. The only jobs I know where you need to show medical records are those in which person literally has another's life in their hands (e.g. pilots). While the Pres. obviously must make sound judgements that affect people's lives and may indirectly lead to death, a stroke, heart attack, etc. is not going to lead to certain death of others. There are also mechanisms to remove a president if their judgement becomes an issue and an explicit procedure for replacing the president. While such a process may exact a toll on the country, I have a hard time imagining how a serious medical condition would result in physical harm to the citizenry.

If we require presidential candidates to disclose their medical records, why shouldn't any employer demand them from job candidates? Shouldn't bankers, stock brokers, judges, lawyers, etc. demonstrate that they have no medical condition that impairs their judgement? What about medical histories of the family? Do we have a right to know if mental disorders run in the family?

McCain is 72 with a history of skin cancer. The average male life expectancy in the US is 75-76. Doesn't that say enough? Doctors can estimate the probability he will survive to a given age, but that doesn't mean he won't live that long or longer. As genetic screening becomes more prominent we are going to be confronted with this type of issue more frequently and with serious consequences. If insurance companies and employers can exclude job candidates based on medical conditions or genetic tendencies, I think that would be a horrible mistake. In my opinion, forcing the President to release records would be a big step in the wrong direction.

Just my $0.02.

RU: If what I’ve known of you from your posts here over the past year or so is any indication, your mind/body karma is working well for you, my friend. I keep thinking about visiting the TP Zoo and somehow my schedule hasn’t permitted much of it these days. I love their site - so many talented intellectuals there.

Wouldn't you know it? The last thing I posted over there was "Oh barf." I better straighten up. :-D

Thanks, satirev!

OT, but OMFG! Katie has a new segment "Vice Presidential Questions" and she's juxtaposing Biden's answers with Sarah's.

HILARIOUS!

And perfect way to truly showcase the differences. A little taste of what tomorrow will be...

PS, been a year and a half yesterday… still not off hook…

Hoping the best for you. I know it is tough getting through and hoping they got it all and it doesn't come back. Keep positive.

My mom had Multiple Myeloma, which attacks the bones, but hers metastasized and spread through almost all her internal organs.

There's also something called "Chemo Brain" that affects many cancer survivors. It causes memory loss and a change in personality. I know a woman who had breast cancer. But the time she was done with all her treatments, she was a lot like McCain. And she started out a very quick, intelligent and mellow person.

Saint Augustine Says:
I have never given birth but when I was 4 my mother got pregnant with the first of my 5 younger siblings. I married and fathered 3 children. Despite that experience I was never considered an expert on pregnant women….until I stayed at a Holiday Inn with one.

LOL

satirev, teaching at the local CC, it seems amazing that each college in turn would accept all the credits from the previous colleges. So she must have just gypsied around cherry picking courses until one of them said, here, take this diploma, shove it and get the hell off our campus!
