The hypocrisy is greater than that. Her running mate wants to TAX THAT EMPLOYER PROVIDED HEALTH INSURANCE AS IF IT WERE INCOME in order to force people out of employer-based and into the open market.

Can you imagine having to shop for health insurance on the open market with a pregnant dependent and a baby with a genetic disease? Good thing she’s a public servant who gets all that great state-provided health insurance now. Just like John McCain who has had government provided health insurance HIS ENTIRE LIFE. But it’s not good enough for the rest of us…..

Thanks Keith. But I’m wondering about the basic issue that everyone, from Obama to McCain to Bair ,and all of the Repub and Dem leadership advocating for this change in response to the Crisis- and particularly as a measure that wasn’t included in the original House bill, but that is expected to sweeten the deal enough to get some of those no votes back on board. My question is: why? I can’t see how this changes anything.

Adjusting the insurance threshold for individuals is relatively meaningless, but it is being touted as a necessary step to promote the protection of small business asset banking.

Of course, my small business has earned annual gross rates exceeding two million dollars in some years, and probably never had a balance of more than ten thousand dollars in the bank at any time in the seventeen years it has existed. So how meaningful is the proposal? That’s hard to say. But then, Senator McCain might be inclined to support such a change, because it would protect ‘middle class’ account holders: apparently anyone who earns less than three million dollars per year, wasn’t it?

And, why do Republicans hate unions? Or, health care reform? The inconsistencies in Governor Palin’s public remarks are enough to make anyone’s head explode!
