Right-wing group boycotts Google for opposing Prop. 8.
Randy Thomasson of the right-wing group Campaign for Children and Families (CCF) has called for a boycott of Google for its opposition to Proposition 8, which would ban same-sex marriage in California. “There needs to be a response from people who will say, ‘I’m not going to put a dime of my money or time into businesses that are attacking the sacred institution of marriage,’” Thomasson told OneNewsNow. However, Valleywag points out that CCF’s webpage directs users to search Google News for “news related to marriage”:
According to Thomasson, Google also elevates “pagan-type holidays.”
Update Thomasson also pushed hard for Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R) to veto a bill honoring LGBT icon Harvey Milk, saying that it would "positively portray to children homosexual experimentation, homosexual 'marriages,' sex-change operations, and anything else that’s 'in the closet.'"

Seems like that is a much more forceful attack on “the sacred institution of marriage” than Prop 8, which seeks to expand marriage rights.
Reminds me of that reality show on — what else — Fox a few years back, “Who Wants to Marry a Mullti-Millionaire”. Here was a show that turned marriage into a freaking game show. Where was the outcry against that “attack on the sacred institution of marriage”?

I’ve been scratching my head about that for years. Decades. What really set them off, of course, was gay liberation. Here’s what the yes on 8 people use as an argument to pass the proposition, “Because four activist judges in San Francisco wrongly overturned the people’s vote, we need to pass this measure as a constitutional amendment to RESTORE THE DEFINITION OF MARRIAGE (yes they used all caps in the official voter information guide) as a man and a woman.”
Here’s the kicker: “Proposition 8 protects marriage as an essential institution of society. While death, divorce, or other circumstances may prevent the ideal, the best situation for a child is to be raised by a married mother and father.”
They go further, suggesting that if it’s not passed our children would be taught that same-sex marriage is the same as traditional marriage.
Talk about ‘running scared’ these people are off the rail. This proposition has absolutely nothing to do with schools/education.
Californians: Vote NO on Prop 8 and show these homophobes we won’t write bigotry/hate into the constitution.

You seem to be of the opinion that free members of a free society should only do what is explicitly permitted. I am of the opinion that free members of a free society are allowed to do all that is not explicitly prohibited.
The California Supreme Court seems to share my opinion and can’t find a law or Constitutional precedent that explicitly forbids same sex unions. So, unless a new constitutional amendment is passed? There is no legal barrier to same sex unions.

October 3rd, 2008 at 9:59 amChristian groups also boycotted McDonalds recently over proposition 8 and after a few weeks they decided to recend their opposition to proposition 8. I will have to say that I do support proposition 8 and I also do not hate homosexuals even though if asked my opinion I would discourage someone from pursuing the lifestyle. Maybe I’m the only Christian that believes you can disagree with someone without hating them, but I don’t think so.
