Continuing our coverage of the 2008 election debates, tonight, ThinkProgress will be liveblogging what is being billed as the “highly anticipated vice-presidential debates in history” (beginning at 9:00 p.m. ET). We will also have you covered for the media’s post-event commentary.
Look for constant updates, rapid-response research, and lively commentary. We will be joined by the entire ThinkProgress team, including the Wonk Room and Matt Yglesias.

The efforts, to date, to limit Palin’s ‘exposure’ are pathetic.
Is sounds like they won’t even be able to look at each other.
America, listen to this woman’s voice…that alone should tell you she’s more Harpy than Sharpie.
October 2nd, 2008 at 10:27 amI’m hopeful that she’ll make as many gaffes as usual, and end up embarrassing herself some more, but she did do decently well in debates when she was running for governor. Biden had better not hold back TOO much.
October 2nd, 2008 at 10:33 amThis “debate” should be a great source of Daily Show fodder. A source of substantive information, not so much.
And the Commission on Presidential Debates wouldn’t have it any other way.
October 2nd, 2008 at 10:44 amOh my god did she really just pick her nose and EAT IT ??
Oops, am i too early?? See you in 10 hrs.
October 2nd, 2008 at 10:49 amOh my god, Did she just say “thats how we are going to feed the poor in a Palin/McCain administration” right after her booger snack ??? EEWWWW!!
Dam, still too early. I just can’t wait.
October 2nd, 2008 at 10:52 amI’m recording it for comedy reasons. This might be the most unintentionally funny night in the history of television.
I expect nothing but generic talking points from Palin, and at least one moment where she accuses Biden of sexism. I’m also sure McCain’s camp will give her one or two jokes to use to attack Biden.
October 2nd, 2008 at 10:56 amI will be watching CSPAN with friends. We are trying to come up with a good drinking game. I suggested every time she “wrinkles” her nose. The thing that gets me is for some, all she really has to do is sound semi coherent. People don’t really “listen” to what is being said just “how” it is said. I wouldn’t count her out yet.
October 2nd, 2008 at 11:01 amBiden could walk all over Palin and totally humiliate her if he wanted to.
Unfortunately I think he needs to show some restraint. Leave his ego at the door. Obama is first on the ticket not Biden. Dont make the debate a contest between him and Palin. Not go on and on about his own long experience just to prove Palin is unqualified (she does that just fine on her own). Making this an experience contest doesnt help Obama. Palin is irrelevant. McCain is the one to beat. Only mention Palins shortcomings in passing and keep the focus on McCain and Bush.
Palin has already shown shes more than capable of making a complete fool of herself without any assistance. So Biden need not bother.
October 2nd, 2008 at 11:09 am…this is going to be cheap humor at its best, all on the taxpayers back. this is completely absurd to spend millions of dollars for this mickey mouse event that is going to take place. the incompetency of that bimbo is absolutely mind blowing. and anyone even thinking about voting for mcpain and falin ought to get their voting rights revoked for complete ignorance. those voters are the scary ones and these to……..

October 2nd, 2008 at 11:21 amThe Las Vegas Over/Under Number for the number of times Failin Palin uses “You know” in her answers is 37. My money is on the Over! The Over/Under for the number of times she legitimately, succinctly, and actual answers a question is ZERO. The Under zero is offered because they figure she will screw up on a few of Biden’s questions as well and that will put her at a minus number.
October 2nd, 2008 at 11:41 amThis makes me laugh:
Palin also claimed she was eager for the debate since the media had been ‘censoring’ her: “Getting to speak directly to Americans without that filter of mainstream media trying to I think maybe censor some of my comments as we lay out those contrasts between these two different tickets.”
She’s been censored? I don’t think so. Sequestered, maybe, but that was decided by McCain’s advisors.
October 2nd, 2008 at 11:54 amWill she get bonus points if she cries on stage? Bet Biden can make her well up if he wanted, but I think he should just rebut her with the clear statement of “That’s not true Sarah.” Just that. He doesn’t need to attack her experience, just refute the lies with that line. Or, “I think you are confused here, Sarah,” and then just sit back and watch the gibberish spout from her moose lips.
You know she’s gonna screw up–hell, Vegas is betting odds on it. Bet Grampy wishes he could lay a bit of money on it, too

Mary,
Just my normal sarcastic self. You may find such a bet in Lost Wages but not in any of the licensed bookies. The legal bookies (my understanding but I don’t have a link) are precluded by law to bet on any thing except sporting events. However, with a little effort you can lose your money on almost everything. The only sure thing is to adopt one of Granny’s dolls at the Las Vegas Cashman Center November 7, 8, and 9.

I never noticed the nose thing. Now I will be looking for it…awwwhhhh.
She’s wants her league of airhead to do what she does when she “watches” SNL.
A high collar is a dead give-away.
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:35 pmWhere can I watch the debate online? I gave up cable television – actually all television.
October 2nd, 2008 at 8:36 pmplain weren’t not behind enemy lines. So don’t start with that crap.
October 2nd, 2008 at 9:06 pmNo greeting from her to Sen. Biden?
wink
October 2nd, 2008 at 9:08 pmPalin did ok. Biden CREAMED her in substance but Palin really worked that homesy aw shucks charm. She repaired some of the damage and probably made people think she wouldnt be a disaster. On the other hand she LIED a lot AGAIN. Biden knew he couldnt just slaughter her without looking bad so he did rein himself in. Being a comitted lefty I was very happy and thought Biden clearly won the debate but Palin didnt hurt herself or McCain.
