On Wednesday, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) said that he “do[es] not complain about the media” even though he and his presidential campaign have been doing nothing but complaining about and attacking the media in recent weeks. Yet one day later, during a town hall meeting yesterday in Denver, McCain confessed that not only does he attack the media, but he enjoys it:
MCCAIN: I do believe that there are many occasions where the nature of the media is to exaggerate things and perhaps not be as accurate as we would like them to be. [...] I love to bash the media all the time.
Watch it:
Now that McCain has let the truth out, perhaps reporters shouldn’t be expecting an invitation to the next McCain family barbecue.
Me, too…
But when I do it, it’s cute! =(^_^)=
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:01 pmHe’s losing it…

October 3rd, 2008 at 12:03 pmIs McCain the very definition of a Flip-Flop politician?
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:03 pmAs if ThinkProgess commenters needed to hear it from the horse’s mouth. We knew his denial yesterday was straight from his arse!
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:04 pmchange his depends.
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:05 pmIt’s so much fun having a Schröedinger’s Candidate for president – you never know what he’s gonna say!
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:06 pmMcCain-Palin are LIARS, HYPOCRITES and FRAUDS.
McCain-Palin are LIARS, HYPOCRITES and FRAUDS.
McCain-Palin are LIARS, HYPOCRITES and FRAUDS.
McCain-Palin are LIARS, HYPOCRITES and FRAUDS.
McCain-Palin are LIARS, HYPOCRITES and FRAUDS.
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:07 pmi think this ideal was the ACTUAL reasoning behind palin’s answer here:
Couric: And when it comes to establishing your worldview, I was curious, what newspapers and magazines did you regularly read before you were tapped for this to stay informed and to understand the world?
Palin: I’ve read most of them, again with a great appreciation for the press, for the media.
she jumped to a different conclusion than katie was after…
“conscience” speaking loud…
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:07 pmout loud…
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:07 pmMCCAIN: I do believe that there are many occasions where the nature of the media is to exaggerate things and perhaps not be as accurate as we would like them to be.
Translation = I’m not at all happy that everyone isn’t buying my bullshit any longer without question……………
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:08 pmOh – My – Effin – Flying Spaghetti Monster! McDeath just told the truth.
Only one more Horseman to go, eh, Bible Spice? Maybe the Rupture is closer at hand than she thinks!
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:09 pmPsssst, Johnny – pissing off your “base” is *never* a good idea…
Just sayin’.
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:09 pmAll those “tire swingers” (Josh’s phrase for McStain’s media, TPM) are going to go after this guy even more now.
At this point in his historic meltdown, he’s going to go after the Fundies (agents of intolerance), the fiscal conservatives (deregulators responsible for the financial collapse), and Reagan (smaller government, raised taxes) next!
And he doesn’t even have a clue how idiotic he sounds.
PEACE
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:17 pmreally? are you sure you didnt mean:
im a liar, im a hypocrite, im ashamed the people have caught on, im am the punching bag for the media because im such a goddamn liar?
i figured it did.
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:18 pmFlip…
Flop…
Flip…
Flop…
Flip…
Flop…
This is too much like watching a tennis game, my neck is getting a crick in it.
Is there ANYTHING he has not changed his position on?
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:18 pmUnlike in previous circumstances, it looks like McCain is going to ride this flaming wreck all the way in, instead of bailing out early.
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:19 pmMCCAIN: I do believe that there are many occasions where the nature of the Republicans is to exaggerate things and perhaps not be as accurate as we would like them to be.
Fixed it for you, John.
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:21 pmdrago; tell us how you really feel. (:-o)
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:25 pmMcCain has flip-flopped so many times his ass is up his head.
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:27 pmAt least, in this instance, he waited a day before he flip-flopped. Lately it’s been within hours or even minutes. (For convenience sake I’m ignoring the bailout bill. He flip-flops in increments of seconds on that one.)
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:30 pmI guess when HE holds the microphone he thinks he’s not being recorded.
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:31 pmNow that McCain has let the truth out, perhaps reporters shouldn’t be expecting an invitation to the next McCain family barbecue.
Why not? Hypocrisy doesn’t bother McCain any more than it does the sycophant reporters who attend his barbecues.

October 3rd, 2008 at 12:32 pmdrago, go print out some t-shirts with that and hand them out to everyone you see. I’m sorry, but it is quite obvious to those who are posting here so that was a bit redundant. Still, it is how we all feel and should be shouted from the rooftops for all to hear. :) And I am glad you are as outraged about as you seem be. And I do not wish to be rude or disrespect you at all, I just hope you take that venting to another level somehow.
Anyway…
Seems Grampy is a bit miffed that the media isn’t always playing along with his lies, though. Heh heh :)
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:33 pmI guess they’re lamenting the fact the GOOP didn’t go with Romney right about now. Especially after Sarah “I’m not going to answer the question, I’m just going to talk straight to the people” Palin reply last night.
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:47 pmOh please, the media is continuing to push the McCain campaign’s bullsh*t by calling this debate a ‘win-win’ and by promoting the idea that Palin ‘did well’ when in actuality she showed herself vastly, massively below any standards we should hold for president.
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:53 pmI feel sorry for McCain. After the debate he couldn’t figure the way out someone had to shown him. He’s an old Grandpa. Some people look ok in their 70’s but McCain looks a little more aged. Ever since he had that melanoma removed he keeps winking that left eye. Is it a nervous tick?
It must be very frustrating for McCain to try to revive a party destroyed by the Idiot. Now that Idiot Bush I truly hate. He’s way overdue for execution!
October 3rd, 2008 at 12:54 pmJust sing along with old Johnnie McLoon: “Bash, bash, bash, bash media…”
October 3rd, 2008 at 1:00 pmOf course you do.
Now, that is. Thank goodness for you you’re playing the pathetic Media Hating Card these days instead of dry humping them so much that your powder blue old man boxers would be caked with dried semen.
It’s pretty clear that the combination of the coming conservative-sponsored economic disaster and the glaringly obvious flashcard-deep knowledge base of Winky Palin that this election is pretty much over.
I bet you that in 2 weeks he’ll get so desperate that he’ll fire up the old barbecue and make some sticky ribs for the media again. At least he’ll win back Candy Crowley…
October 3rd, 2008 at 1:01 pmNow that McCain has let the truth out, perhaps reporters shouldn’t be expecting an invitation to the next McCain family barbecue.
Oh, they should be expecting the invite, because bribery is a time-worn Rethuglican tactic (see, e.g., Foggo and Cunningham).
But they should return the RSVP with a GFY response. They’re venal and vain, so they won’t….
Cheers,
October 3rd, 2008 at 1:32 pmMcCain’s incessant, never-ending flips and flops are getting ridiculous to the point of farce, except that it’s not even the least bit amusing any more. It’s scarey!! There are only two choices here: either this man hasn’t a shred of integrity/honor left and will say whatever he thinks his audience wants to hear, or he honestly does not know or cannot remember what he has said previously. Shameless liar or mentally incapacitated? Which is it? Either one should disqualify this man for public office. The latter, however, is something that can be proven (or disproved) is McCain would release all of his medical records and submit to a physical exam focusing on his mental state. Many of us watched as Reagan’s mental faculties deteriorated while he was still in office — GOP insiders propped him up. Now we seem to be seeing the same thing here with McCain — except that we have the opportunity to do something about it before the man makes it into the White House. Sign Brave New Films’ open letter demanding that McCain release his medical records.
October 3rd, 2008 at 2:34 pmMore than 2,700 doctors have already signed it, along with over 56,000 of us regular folks.

October 3rd, 2008 at 6:42 pmWayne @ 16: Is there ANYTHING he has not changed his position on?
McCain still thinks he should be President.
This is the One True Constant of his political faith.
October 27th, 2008 at 11:48 pmOh how the base has soured: Et tu, press? Et tu, Palin? Check out this hilarious video of Jim Lehrer providing campaign counseling to Palin and McCain
