The Bushies have emasculated environmental laws by and through policy in uncountable cases. Look for instance what has happened to the protections formerly afforded by the Endangered Species Act. Every month it seemed the Bushies in Interior came up with another way to gut the Act and its provisions - and in most cases they succeeded overwhelmingly. Fish and Wildlife Service biologists have been essentially ordered to "partner" with developers to resolve issues rather than apply the law. Currently the mantra is "stature not statute." In other words, don't apply the law - impress them with being a wildlife biologist. What a joke. You're just walking by and Elk, Buffalo, or Bear cruise by. Sleeping in your tent, late at night, you hear the Coyotes sing. It's a song you won't ever forgot. Beautiful and yearning at the same time. To have this magnificent landscape raped by snowmobiles, or whatever fossil burning machine OK'd by the Bush Admin is abhorrent. Teddy Roosevelt fell in love with Yellowstone, and so will anyone who goes there. On your way out, take the North East entrance and head home via the Bear Tooth Highway. One of the most magnificent, and also one of the most frightening roads you'll ever take in your life. You're above the tree line. You're driving a road that slowly snakes narrowly down the mountains into the little town below. All the while, you can reach out any window of your car and scoop snow that never melts, but the view is absolutely breathtaking. I damn near wet my pants out of fear, but the beauty kept me dry. It will take about three hours to get down to "town" where you can take a long, pee. I can't believe Bush wants to destroy that treasure. Vote Obama.
