Obviously, in prioritizing image over substance, you are compensating; much as are Hummer drivers. When republicans lack class, they try to buy it…like a pimps in cadillacs.

And to anyone wanting to see GM go bankrupt, tell that to the hundreds of thousands of workers whose jobs depend on the auto industry.

I’ll type this slowly for you, f-m: No one posted anything about wanting GM to go bankrupt. However, observing that Lutz is driving the company over a cliff via extreme shortsightedness and massive incompetence, thereby forcing those thousands of workers out of jobs, isn’t a criticism, it’s a probability due directly to Lutz’s craptacular judgment. You bias, however, is apparent when you read your prejudices into others’ posts.

CLutz’s judgment further revealed in his global warming ignorance, though he could still serve a useful purpose: have the board secure his view on the next trend; at least then they’d know, at all costs, what not to do…

Maybe Lutz hasn’t checked the price of his stock recently (around a whopping $8.00 per share and dropping). Even if global warming isn’t real (it is), a real capitalist(cynical or opportunist) would take advantage of the growing market demand for energy efficient and smart (hybrid, electric,hydrogen)cars.

This guy is either stubborn as hell or simply stupid. Maybe the shareholders should ouster him.

If you happened to see the piece on 60 Minutes, they also interviewed Elon Musk, the head of Tesla Motors in Silicon Valley. Their electric cars are still really expensive, but this guy made Lutz look like a caveman.

Big Three Face Bankruptcy Fears

After huge losses and plunging sales, experts aren’t ruling out the possibility that GM, Ford or Chrysler might eventually be forced to declare bankruptcy.

Some experts fear that GM, Ford and Chrysler – their sales plunging as fewer consumers buy gas-guzzling pickups and SUVs – could be forced to head for bankruptcy.

Last week, General Motors (GM, Fortune 500) reported a $15.5 billion second quarter net loss. While its operating loss was only $6.3 billion, that’s still more than the market value of the company.

GM’s loss followed an $8.7 billion loss at Ford Motor (F, Fortune 500) and came on the same day that the industry reported a 13% drop in sales, its worst month in 16 years.

Credit rating firm Standard & Poor’s cut GM and Ford deeper into junk bond status last week, leaving their debt just barely above the level normally associated with firms at significant risk of near-term default.

..said Bob Schnorbus, chief economist with J.D. Power & Associates. “If they continue to lose money at the current rate, their chances [of bankruptcy] are uncomfortably high.”

J.D. Power is projecting no improvement in sales until late 2009 at best.
