This afternoon, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) gave a “sharply worded” speech full of “verbal assaults” directed at Sen. Barack Obama (D-IL). At one point, McCain asked, “Who is the real Barack Obama?” A member of the crowd yelled out, “a terrorist!” McCain paused while the audience laughed at the comment, and then continued with his attack — without condemning or admonishing the audience member. Watch it:
Last year, McCain had a similar reaction when one of his supporter asked, regarding Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-NY), “How do we beat the b*tch?” McCain laughed and replied, “That’s an excellent question.” (HT: AmericaBlog)

October 6th, 2008 at 6:19 pmWhile driving home today I was listening to Ed Schultz. He was saying he would like to see Obama turn to McCain tomorrow in the debate and ask him, "Sarah Palin and others on your team have intimated that I am not patriotic because I 'pal around with terrorists', meaning Ayres, someone whom I sat on a few committees with and who once let me use his house for a fundraiser. So, John, do you think that I am unpatriotic and to you think that I 'pal around with terrorists'". Stick it to McCain, make him take a stand. I agree totally. He might also want to ask McCain, "John, do you think I'm a terrorist". If he says "no", then come back with, then why did you allow your supporter to call me one and not rebut what he said.
I want Obama to get in McCain's face tomorrow night and allow him no quarter.

Zooey, once Obama is President he will put people he trusts on his Secret Service detail and in Homeland Security. Right now he's at the mercy of the Bush Administration. That's disgusting. If it had been an Obama supporter yelling that at McCain, they would have been immediately arrested. For gods sake, they arrested that guy who did nothing more than tell Cheney off and touch his shoulder.

Ralph, I would say it's inconclusive based on the poorly worded way the article is written. Still, if it wasn't immediately obvious to whom the Palin supporter was referring, then the Secret Service needs to talk to that man and get everything straightened out. Besides, if the guy was referring to Obama, then they need to know if this Palin supporter was a threat to one of their other protectees.

GOOP control of the House of Reps... continuous from 1994 to 2006... 12 straight years... check...
GOOP control of the Senate since 1994 elections... almost as complete as the House... check...
7 of 9current SCOTUS judges, appointed by GOOPers... check...
From Wiki:
"The gains in seats in the mid-term election resulted in the Republicans gaining control of both the House and the Senate in January 1995.
Large Republican gains were made in state houses as well when the GOP picked up twelve governor seats and 472 legislative seats. In so doing, it took control of 20 state legislatures from the Democrats. Prior to this, Republicans had not held the majority of governorships since 1972. In addition, this was the first time in 50 years that the GOP controlled a majority of state legislatures."

You come here mouthing your empty little platitudes about both parties sharing the blame, which is soooooooooo f-in' vague as to be meaningless. We’ve got SERIOUS damage to the country as a result of certain parties’ behaviors over the last 20 years or so. This isn’t a NO FAULT divorce, ya f-in’ little phony.
You come here mouthing your empty little platitudes about both parties sharing the blame, which is soooooooooo f-in’ vague as to be meaningless. When folks go TO PRISON, they do so based on the their degree of culpability in the crime. Some folks can get 5 years for their part, others get 10, and some get life.
So, yes, it does serve a REAL purpose to apportion out the responsibility, no matter how much you want to dribble all over the thought.

Well aren't you in a snit this evening, bud. Since you pointed out that Repubs have had so much power the last few years, you must give them credit for the economic growth that has occurred as well as the blame for the current problems. Of course people should be punished according to their degree of fault. That would be why I responded to the comment that placed all the blame for the financial difficulties on the Repubs. Everyone who had a hand in oversight bears responsibility. As Bill Clinton said, Dems fought that. See how that works? ;)
October 7th, 2008 at 12:01 amDoes McCain have any plan but give tax breaks to corporations that outsource jobs? Cut medicare? War. War. War. ME.ME.ME. We all know who John McCain is: make a lotta noise, insult people, deregulate, vote against veterans' benefits, vote for torture, change his mind about everything every other day. He doesn't even trust his running mate to have a press conference. He thinks she did a great job when she could not answer a question or tell anyone what one way a McCain Palin ticket would be different than Bush and Cheney, except that John McCain is a maverick. He does whinny on.

Glad to see you recovered your sense of humor, bud! So there has been nothing but economic decline as long as the Repubs have had any control? What about during the Clinton years. Remember how that was always used as evidence of Dem’s success even though, as you noted in your little rant, Repubs controlled Congress? You can’t have it both ways. The last 20 years can’t be all bad when you’re slamming Repubs if the Clinton years were bliss when you are fawning over Dems. Besides, Bill is the one who said, “The responsibility that the Democrats have may rest more with resisting any efforts by Republicans in the Congress or by me when I was president to put some standards and tighten up a little on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.” Seems politicians of both parties produced the current state of affairs. ;)
October 7th, 2008 at 12:56 amI think you nailed it, Game of Life. Why would McCain correct the guy for doing his job? Look at the question. It was a set up. Call. Response. It's a baby trick.

Well...
... One things for sure. Obama isn't under ANY ethics investigations that might get him impeached before the year is up. Eh, Sarah?

Oh,
... And another thing is for sure... those that go around drumming up the level of animosity and hysteria to the heights of assassination threats and murder DO deserve to stand trial, too!

So now we're just looking at the last eight years? What happened to the last 20 years of decline under repub control? Was that a mistake?
No matter. It doesn't change the original point of contention which was:
“The responsibility that the Democrats have may rest more with resisting any efforts by Republicans in the Congress or by me when I was president to put some standards and tighten up a little on Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.”

Ah yes... nice attempt to dodge away from a position you can't defend. Yes, Dems do bears SOME responsibility for this mess, and considering just what a political advantage the GOOP has had, as demonstrated above (even you could understand that, couldn't you??? ;-)???) over the last 8 years, I feel I'm being fair and balanced attributing the lion's share of the failure to the GOOP.
Bill Clinton once said he wish he had gone after Osama Bin Ladin harder, but 9/11 occurred w/ Botch in the WH, and Botch and his Admin CHOSE to ignore Richard Clark's repeated warnings about Bin Ladin. I do NOT believe for an instant Gore would have done the same, nor would Gore have been so arrogant and obtuse as to invade Iraq under false pretenses. But that is conjecture on my part.
So we must go back to the facts we have: spiraling deficits, sky-high oil, rotting infrastructure, a sinking dollar, millions of jobs shipped overseas... endless war, unlimited domestic spying, a politically corrupted DoJ, torture, elected officials blowing of subpoenas... all brought to you, courtesy of the G... O... P...
Man up, Wrongie... OWN the F-in' mess... this IS what the GOOP hath wrot over the last 8 years, huh?
Is there ANYTHING in what I said that isn't true? NO... uh, no, and no...
Since you fancy yerself such a whizbang politco, Wrongie... tell me...
How did those disgusting, hideously embarrassing Abu Ghraib sex torture photos keep the country safer?

October 7th, 2008 at 2:07 amOf course it's the greedy, lying repug fault.
Bills are passed by your repug chimp, chimpy. If it was a bad bill then chimpy should have vetoed the bill.
No matter how you look at it, it's the repugs fault.
All their fault.
chimpy's invasion and occupation wars are the big causes of the economy meltdown.
Then there's the repug rubber stamp congress for 5 years.
Then chimpy filling important high level positions with his useless dangerous idiots.
chimpy's wanton use of your Constitution.
And chimpy taking the liberty to politicize top offices.
Yep it's all the dummy's fault.

October 7th, 2008 at 2:23 amSo, this is what America has come to? A bunch of radical idealists who want to kill anyone that doesnt look like them, and believe it is best for the corporations to run the machine of government. Sounds a bit like an idea an Italian guy had in the 30s. I'll say it. The NeoCons/Republicans are the modern Fascist movement.
October 7th, 2008 at 6:15 amDid that person shout "kill him" right before Palin instigated a shout of "USA USA USA"?
Motivation gimmicks do not represent leadership. Where is the leadership? No ideas. No moral courage. No compassion. Just empty slogans aimed at motivation. What an empty suit.

October 7th, 2008 at 10:47 amWell...for all you racist haterz I hope these next four years will serve as a DAILY reminder that you cannot stop change. You can either accept that or move to another d@mn country! It's this backwards thinking and xenophobia that has hurt the USA. Can't you see, everything is tied to the USA? When our markets crash so do others. When we go to war, world terror and violence goes up. So if you think the "status quo" was going to work then you are just ignornant. I don't even know why I'm trying to explain this to some of you ignorant cretins.
