McCain declines to answer whether he supports ‘bipartisan solutions’ on health care and Social Security.

Recently, the AARP asked both presidential candidates about their positions on issues related to senior citizens. McCain, however, “chose not to check any statements in the survey” on “health care, long-term care, Social Security and retirement security,” the Washington Post reports. The McCain campaign declined to answer whether it commits “to help end gridlock by working across party lines to develop and support common-sense, bipartisan solutions on health care and financial security”:

McCain and Obama did provide written answers on the issues in the survey.

John's Bipartisan Dodge is good for about another three weeks of political mileage.

After the elections, anyone wanna' bet Leiberman dumps his best bud into the nearest political ditch?

  2. Badmoodman Says:

With each passing day, McCain makes Cheney look like Mr. Congeniality.

  3. Bob Says:

    Maybe he's retiring.

  4. justme Says:

    How Mavericky of him.

  5. Alecto Says:

The AARP is not showing the whole story.
McCain just checked off the other selection, which AARP CONVENIENTLY Left off.
    McShameful says:
"I am committed to continuing gridlock and to work within party lines to defeat commonsense, bipartisan solutions on healthcare and financial security."

Yup, that is how he sounds.

Just today, Cindy (the anorexic, drug-addicted bimbo) McNumbNuts called Obama's the "dirtiest campaign in history".

Obama may have "earmarked" a $3 million projector for a Chicago planetarium as McNumbNuts suggested in the town hall debate.

But McNumbNuts is married to a $100 million projector.

    Really?

Barack Obama once sat on the same school board with a man who had done bad things when Obama was eight years old, and that means Obama hates America. Do I have that straight?

So, my only question for John McCain now: Is this the best you can do?

Twenty one years in the Senate, two terms in the House, twenty two years in the Navy, and lest we forget five years as a POW, and this is it? This is the way that John Sidney McCain III, son and grandson of admirals decides to exit stage far, far right?

Unable to defend his stance on the issues, unwilling to follow the rules of honor he claimed to endorse, undone by his own anger and shadows from his past, this man, this self-proclaimed maverick goes for the sidelines with the most embarrassing series of schoolyard taunts and sophomoric smears in modern times. How crass. How despicable. How utterly and deeply pathetic.

Pitiful is the word, really, both in the sense of contemptible and in arousing a kind of sick feeling of concern. To have done and seen so much, to have had so many opportunities, to have been given a second chance long after most men had given up the game. And then to spend it this way.

    Pitiful.

I'm afraid the brain dead freaks who still support Flippy McSpin don't want to hear about bipartisanship. All they want to hear is how the GOP will save them from the scary "liberals" under the bed. If Flippy or Chippy admitted a "liberal" might have a good idea? The hardcore 20% might not like it and vote for Barr.

OT, but whatthehell, a great article by

    Umm, make that Mark Ginsberg...

  12. Alecto Says:

    Why are the ANNENBERGS TERRORISTS???????

Since Bill Ayers sat on the board that Walter Annenberg started, then obviously Annenberg KNEW Ayers' background. So why is Walter Annenberg a terrorist? I assume this extends to his wife also.

  13. Doc Rock Says:

And Annenberg's regularly entertained Ronnie Reagan

  14. pete Says:

Another OT that's too good not to share. It appears that certain persons are outraged about the picture of Bible Spice on the cover of Newsweek. Funny, I don't recall any outrage over various demeaning caricatures of Obama, or even Hilary.

  15. stewarjt Says:

First, there is not, and given average economic growth in the future, there will never be a Social Security problem that needs a solution.

Further, if $700B appears almost instantly for Wall Street pigs, then certainly any future government can find the funds to make up any Social Security shortfall.

And, for any wingnut who believes it is a good idea to invest in individual accounts instead of Social Security, think about the people just about to retire and the stock market. That is, THINK AGAIN!!!

  16. RUCerious Says:

Doc Rock, whoda thunk Ronnie Raygun was a commie subversive?!

  17. RUCerious Says:

    stewartjt, nice point. well made.

Oooooh! I got here late, but that comment made my day....

  19. MrSquirrel Says:

So... he couldn't bring himself to commit to an attempt to bring an end to gridlock through a bipartisan common-sense approach?

Which part did he find objectionable? Ending gridlock? Bipartisan? Reaching across the aisle? Common-sense?

  20. wiley Says:

I'm guessing it's the combination of all of the above, MrSquirrel. The things you mention +. So many abstractions, metaphors, images---develop, support, solutions, financial security---blah, blah, blah---all in one sentence.

My God! Is there nothing concrete in all this!

    Ask him who to bomb.

  21. Another Joe Says:

SP Biloxi - yup, whorehouse, but we need to get real here too. THIS IS NOT ABOUT THE BUSHES. They are not actually an elite family that is in control of America or the world.

Real change will demand looking past the morons in front of the cameras.

People need to look past simple answers - do you know who the bush family really is? Please watch Hidden in Plain Sight: Meet the Bush Family

But that's not all, please go to your favorite video service - google does rank from many sources, and look for more on this family and the interests they represent. HERE'S another interesting perspective.

  22. Another Joe Says:

Damn - wrong thread, meant to put this upstairs.

  23. shoeless Says:

Who cares about health care and Social Security. The big story on Fox News and Friends today is that Barack Obama was friends with unrepentant terrorist Bill Ayers.

  24. MapleStreet Says:

Considering that older Americans supply a lot of McSame's base, this seems like a bad move for McCain.

He wants to weaken healthcare. he's already said that Social Security will weaken.

Of course, if healthcare is bad enough that a lot of people die before retirement, SS may make it.

  25. follow the money Says:

    hey guido,
