Continuing her tour among friendly-only interviewers, Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) appeared on the Laura Ingraham show today and declared it’s time voters “start…demanding answers of candidates.” Of course, she wasn’t referring to the McCain-Palin campaign, which she described as “an open book”:
Laura, it’s so important for your listeners to start asking those questions and demanding answers of candidates. We certainly — John McCain and I — our lives are an open book. We’re called on the carpet every day, demanded of us to answer questions and I don’t see that on the other side.
Listen here:
Palin has refused to give a single news conference, and has taken open questions from her traveling press corps just once — and for fifteen minutes. Though she has granted right-wing Sean Hannity three interviews (better compared to infomercials), she has yet to talk with NBC, CNN, or MSNBC.
Transcript:
PALIN: Laura, it’s so important for your listeners to start asking those questions and demanding answers of candidates. We certainly — John McCain and I — our lives are an open book. We’re called on the carpet every day, demanded of us to answer questions and I don’t see that on the other side. I don’t see the other ticket being asked to be truthful and give these details that American voters are deserving and your listeners have gotta have these questions too.
I have to stand up for Failin’ Palin here. I think she has been totally transparent . . . as a matter of fact, I think most people can see right through her (and McNumbNuts, too).

October 9th, 2008 at 3:03 pmLaura, it’s so important for your listeners to start asking those questions and demanding answers of candidates. We certainly — John McCain and I — our lives are an open book. We’re called on the carpet every day, demanded of us to answer questions and I don’t see that on the other side.
You’re such an “open book” which is why you’re refusing to co-operate with a federal investigation that is searching into allegations that you abused your power and authority in Alaska ?
October 9th, 2008 at 3:03 pmAn open “Jughead” comic book is more like it!
October 9th, 2008 at 3:03 pmWOW!! Laura, one of the Faux Blonde Bimbo Brigade(TM) is thought of as ‘cool’ by Flailin. Who’da thunk!
I bet she really throws hard and inside ones, right?
October 9th, 2008 at 3:04 pm.
“Katie, I’ll just have to get back to you on that…”
.
October 9th, 2008 at 3:04 pm“John McCain was a community organizer in Chicago, not Barack Obama. John McCain graduated from Harvard Law School.
And you know what? John McCain is taller than Barack Obama. And blacker, too.”
If they’re not careful, those folks are gonna wind up claiming that THEY were “palling around” with Bill Ayers.
October 9th, 2008 at 3:04 pm“She has yet to talk with NBC, CNN, or MSNBC.”
You should add PBS on the list. But, then again Betty Boop “wink, wink” Palin certainly don’t want to be interviewed by Gwen Ifill and Jim Lehrer.
October 9th, 2008 at 3:05 pmWe certainly — John McCain and I — our lives are an open book.
You two most certainly are ………….One that has been heavily edited and re-written numerous times ………
October 9th, 2008 at 3:07 pmIf she can’t stand up to Gwen Ifill, how is she going to stand up to Ahmadinejad?
Oh, never mind; she won’t have to talk to Ahmadinejad. She and McCain are afraid tat if they don’t have preconditions like “no wedgies”, they’ll leave te meeting with a wedgie.
October 9th, 2008 at 3:08 pmWe certainly — John McCain and I — our lives are an open book.
Uh Huh, written in pencil on a Big Chief red tablet …. with a LOT of erasures in it.
October 9th, 2008 at 3:10 pmAsk her on the fly about the Dow’s fall below 9,000.
October 9th, 2008 at 3:12 pmDoes anyone else seems to feel that they are trapped in an alternate universe when this mavericky duo speaks.
Why does she/they insult people by saying things like this. Say what you will about the mystery that is Obama, but don’t say the country knows about you; you’ve been in hiding; you’ve mangled the real interview you’ve done; in debates, you either didn’t answer the questions asked and never defended/promoted the agenda of your campaign for heavens sakes!
This is George Bush all over againg – not knowing the cost of gas at the pump variety of disconnection.
October 9th, 2008 at 3:13 pm“What do you want for lunch?” does not constitute a relevant question for the campaign.
October 9th, 2008 at 3:14 pmYOu guys have got to see this and this. They are clips from Blogger Interrupted of how people act when asked questions regarding Obama and Palin.
Truly scarey stuff.
October 9th, 2008 at 3:14 pmWhen Ingraham invited Palin to appear on her show every week until election day, Palin replied noncommittally: “You’re cool.”
Just because you’re the governor of a state filled with Eskimos and igloos , doesn’t mean you’re any type of legitimate arbiter in determining who is or isn’t “cool” , Bible Spice…….
In fact , your whacky and backwards-ass religious beliefs prove otherwise.
October 9th, 2008 at 3:14 pmAn open book would testify…
October 9th, 2008 at 3:16 pmAn open book with all the pages ripped out????
October 9th, 2008 at 3:20 pm“We’re called on the carpet every day,”–and Palin added “Ive got the carpet burns on my knees to prove it”
Sorry I just couldn’t resist. I am a bad person.
October 9th, 2008 at 3:21 pmWhat are the two words that come to mind? oh yeah. “Bull” and “shit”.
October 9th, 2008 at 3:21 pmI had a Dream last night that I met Obomba at a book store
October 9th, 2008 at 3:21 pmI wonder if their open book is as heavily redacted as Valie Plame’s is.
October 9th, 2008 at 3:21 pmarg, Valerie Plame’s.
October 9th, 2008 at 3:22 pmIgnoranceIsNotBliss: Actually IMHO the ‘reporter’ is being an obnoxious git, most everyone there is saying “go away” when being confronted with stupid questions, as I’m sure I would.
The recent “terrorist” and “kill him” remarks are however another matter and are serious.
October 9th, 2008 at 3:24 pmAn ‘open book’, eh?
Very few pages and all of them blank.
(Maybe a little crayon scribble here and there.)
October 9th, 2008 at 3:24 pmWhat’s more frightening/frustrating: The idea that Palin knows she’s feeding people lines of B.S., or that she believes the B.S. she spews? For her to claim she’s an open book after the campaign repeatedly tried to stall Troopergate, and after she consistently refused to specifically answer why Wasilla made rape victims and/or their insurance companies pay for their own rape kits and that a mini-duty-free-shopping excursion is a piece of her foreign travel experience is laughable on its face.
I just wish the wingnuts could just admit WHY they don’t like Obama as opposed to the lies they spew that they consider valid. Obama’s better-educated, has a sharper mind, better on his feet, on the better sides of most issues than McCain-Palin. You’re allowed to acknowledge that while still not liking Obama…of course, you still have to answer why.
October 9th, 2008 at 3:25 pm“We’re called on the carpet every day, demanded of us to answer questions and I don’t see that on the other side.”
____________________________________________________________
Sarah, if you would occasionally pay attention to the media — ANY of the media — you would see that ALL candidates are being “demanded” to “answer questions”. It’s part of running for office.
Perhaps it’s because Obama answers the questions he is asked without whining about how sexist or racist they are (and he doesn’t throw hissy fits) that you may not notice that he is getting “called on the carpet” every bit as much as you are.
Here’s a clue. Try REALLY being an open book for a change. So you didn’t abuse your office in dealing with that Alaskan State Trooper? Fine — cooperate with the investigation and get that matter put behind you. If you’re proud of your record as mayor and governor, try being honest about what you’ve done instead of trying to spin it into something it never was (”thanks but no thanks”).
And how about holding an actual press conference? You know, an event where you take questions that haven’t been vetted, filtered, and for which your handlers have written you 3×5 card with the proper answer? Obama and Biden — “the other side” — are doing that.
If you can’t handle really being the open book you claim to be, and if you can’t answer any question beyond “do you think Obama is a terrorist?” — perhaps you shouldn’t have signed up for this gig.
October 9th, 2008 at 3:30 pmOk mrs sarah “witchcraft-free since 2005″ palin I have some
easy yes/no questions for ya.
1)When you were mayor did you hire a lobbist to get your city
27million dollars?
2)Did you return the money for “the bridg to nowhere”?
3)Did you increase taxes on oil revenues and give every man,
woman, and child an extra $1200 on top of the $3000 they
already get?
4)Did your husband ever belong to the AIP?
5)Did you ever attend any functions at the AIP?
October 9th, 2008 at 3:32 pmLaura, it’s so important for your listeners to start asking those questions and demanding answers of candidates. We certainly — John McCain and I — our lives are an open book. We’re called on the carpet every day, demanded of us to answer questions and I don’t see that on the other side.
Like the way you “answered” all the questions during the VP debate ?
Is this dopey broad serious ?
October 9th, 2008 at 3:33 pmWake up, Sarah. You haven’t been paying attention. Up until August 31, Sarah Palin didn’t even realize that there was more this world than Alaska. She only knows small town Alaska and after learning about the Palins, I’m beginning to think that Alaska is another country.
October 9th, 2008 at 3:35 pmA question I’d like someone to ask Governor Palin: Do you agree with the motto of the Alaskan Independence Party (AIP)– “Alaska First – Alaska Always”?
A followup. Do you approve of AIP founder Joe Vogler’s statement, “I’m an Alaskan, not an American. I’ve got no use for America or her damned institutions”?
If not, why did you address the March 2008 AIP meeting and tell them to “keep up the good work”?
October 9th, 2008 at 3:36 pmPalin – the biggest liar ever to “grace” American politics. Open book? Honest? She has been the most protected, most hidden candidate ever in US history. She is a stupid, well documented, protected loser. Repubs should be ashamed. You chose a stupid, uninformed, anti-American buffoon in Palin. She not only hates Americans, she defames them. Anyone who supports this uninformed ignorant loser is exposing him/herself as an ignorant, uninformed voter. Not that they care. For McCAin to chose this no-name (like the no-name detergent) person, is beyond belief. McCain shows his true colors – he thinks U.S.citizens are ignorant, stupid sheep. But… maybe they are?? Palin is a hateful, violence-inciting, anti-woman bigot. Period.
October 9th, 2008 at 3:36 pmMust of been what they told her to say today…change those false campaign talking points till something sticks…keep trying because your ticket is dieing.
RIP GOP
Go Obama
October 9th, 2008 at 3:36 pmWho is Barack Obama?
He’s the guy who the majority of the US is rooting for (polls, registrations, most contributions)and who is kicking McCain’s ass (fund raising, debates, caucus turnouts, demographics and polls).
He’s the guy who ‘bitter’ Hillary supporters such as myself want in the White House.
Who is John McCain?
October 9th, 2008 at 3:37 pmAn ancient lifelong Republican who has only ’stood up’ to his party when it would cost him little or nothing to do so, for 10% of his 26 years as a recipient of government welfare despite being married to a fortune.
Too bad McPalin’s open book is My Pet Goat: The Sequel
October 9th, 2008 at 3:39 pmBambi McAirhead certainly is an open book — a Hello Kitty coloring book…
Oh, and I guess in saying that “I don’t see that on the other side” she forgot that Joe Biden was on the morning talk shows yesterday morning, and on the Sunday news shows on Sunday, and Barack Obama has been on all of the networks — and even went on O’Falafel’s “show”! To be fair, I think it’s time Bambi went on Keith O’s or Rachel M’s show. Oh yes — I’d pay huge money to see that one…
October 9th, 2008 at 3:39 pmObviously this stupid woman is mentally ill, if she really believbes this. Really Sarah? Then you are a stupid dolt.
October 9th, 2008 at 3:40 pmPalin is absolutely, categorically and unequivocally a PATHOLOGICAL LIAR and out of her freaking mind!
It’s been 41 days since Palin was selected and NOT ONE PRESS CONFERENCE!
October 9th, 2008 at 3:41 pm“Yeah, mocked, I guess that’s the word, yeah.”
October 9th, 2008 at 3:43 pmI don’t know about you but I am sick of seeing, hearing, hearing about and reading about Sarah Palin. Hopefully, on November 5, 2009, she will rapidly sink back into the unfrozen muck of Alaska from which she will never be heard again!!!!
Barak Hussein Obama/Joseph Robinette Biden 2008
Yeah, the repugs are afraid of the Democratic candidates’ middle names!!! Spread the word!
October 9th, 2008 at 3:46 pmhttp://www.thenational.ae/article/20081003/REVIEW/565545479/1008
From someone who knows Sarah:
“She’s nothing like us!” she stammered, “she doesn’t know what it’s like to not be able to pay the bills, to not be able to get credit cards or health insurance for the kids. Not everyone has what they have; that image is a lie. And it’s not that she’s like us. We’d like to believe that. People are living vicariously through her. They feel they’re missing something in life. But she has that way where she can impact someone in that manner; its like you feel you’re living that life, and that’s why she can say ‘Oh, I’m just one of them,’ because we’re desperately trying to live vicariously through her energetic and determined lifestyle. Maybe that’s why I’m so damned proud of her – I’m doing it too.” …
October 9th, 2008 at 3:50 pmIgnoranceIsNotBliss
Watched those clips, my gawd, what a bunch of ignorant, hateful, bigots they are, no wonder I hate conservatives.
October 9th, 2008 at 3:52 pmI think it’s becoming more and more apparent that the GOP is not really contesting the election. From Flippy McSpin’s pandering to those on the right of Bill Kristol, to the selection of Bible Spice, everything is geared to keeping the hardcore 20%ers in a herd for future exploitation.
And when it comes to the bizarre, petty, ridiculous lies? They are not meant for anyone in the “reality based” community. They are meant for people who can’t read, think, reason or judge, on a fully human level. They are meant for people who shout slogans they don’t know the meaning of. They are meant for bigots who’s default setting is STUPID.
Thank Jebus there are signs that rational humans might actually show up to vote in large enough numbers to begin a repudiation of their idiocy.
October 9th, 2008 at 3:52 pmWhat the Hockey Mom needs to understand is that delusion is a form of insanity. She is as delusional as anyone I have ever witnessed. The people who worship her are some sick puppies.

What’s more frightening/frustrating: The idea that Palin knows she’s feeding people lines of B.S., or that she believes the B.S. she spews?
That’s the question I keep coming back to: does she really believe she’s “an open book” or is she comfortable just lying through her teeth? In other words, idiot or sociopath?
October 9th, 2008 at 4:07 pmpete Says

I think it’s becoming more and more apparent that the GOP is not really contesting the election.

Of course not. If they win, they will get stuck having to fix everythin they’ve broken in the past eight years. They figure it’s much more to their advantage to elect a Democrat to come in and clean up their mess, criticize him constantly while he does so, and then in four years run their candidate in a campaign that blames the Democrats for every conceivable ill they can think of.
And the wingnut talking heads (Limbaugh, Hannity, Savage, Coulter, Malkin, et al) are practically drooling at the thought of having a Democrat in the White House. After eight years, they have run out of creative ways to blame the Democrats when the Dems have had no effective power. An Obama win will justify their jobs for a few more years.
October 9th, 2008 at 4:12 pmVery true, kasinca. They base their entire worldview on a political and practical impossibility. Unfortunately, it’s not likely they will figure it out as adults. There’s some hope for the children though.
We can’t reason with them so, we have to outnumber them by a large enough margin to overcome fraud. That’s why I urge every sane person I meet to vote. And I’ve met very few who aren’t eager for the election.
I have a feeling that we will see the biggest turnout of our lives. Then we’ll see if there are enough strengths left in our system to undo the worst of the damage. And move the nutbags back to the margins of society where they belong.
October 9th, 2008 at 4:15 pmYep misshusseinmolly. They are already starting in trying to blame Bushco’s follies on the “Dem controlled” Congress. By 2012 the GOP will be claiming that Bushco never happened.
October 9th, 2008 at 4:19 pmMy guess is she believes it.
my experience with right-wingers is they have an incredible ability to convince themselves that their narrow focus is the only possible view. They easily exclude other perspectives and contradictory facts, and since being “an open book” is a good thing to be, and they know they’re good people, then they must be “an open book”.
October 9th, 2008 at 4:22 pm“The difference between genius and stupidity is that genius has its limits.”
October 9th, 2008 at 4:31 pmOn a related note. Here’s another example of what petty, small, mean, people the Palins are.

This has been my experience as well. In fact, my son told me about a study done among conservatrons that established that the more information they were given to prove their assumption was wrong (IIRC, it had to do with Iraq and WMDs, or Iraq and 9/11) the more stubbornly they clung to the original assumption. Their level of confidence in the wrong information, in other words, actually rose the more the assumption was disproven.
Palin is one of the most blatantly arrogant people I’ve seen. Perhaps merely allowing others to view her as she passes qualifies as being pestered with questions.
October 9th, 2008 at 4:36 pmAn open book, called on the carpet. Who brought the whale oil?
October 9th, 2008 at 4:51 pmPerhaps she has convinced herself that revealing the reproductive status of her family is being an “open book”?
Perhaps all she is trying to do is to validate a claim that “being an open book” negates the fact that she’s too ignorant to have ever opened a book herself?
Perhaps she is so unfamiliar with books, other than trying to get them banned, that she doesn’t know an open book from a closed one?
It’s hard to tell when they’re batscat crazy.
October 9th, 2008 at 4:55 pmralph the wonder llama @50
I might just add one little thing to your very astute observation… and that is that I also believe that she believes what she says but there is a disconnect in being able to be self aware enough to understand her behavior vs. the other side’s behavior.
And if she does, and is ignoring it in order to win the race, justifying the means by end result which she no doubt sees as “god’s will”.
Unfortunately for her, Jesus never really said that it’s ok to lie, cheat and steal as long as you do it in my name.
October 9th, 2008 at 4:59 pmThis looks like the party of sociopaths and children of alcoholics.
October 9th, 2008 at 5:15 pmHuffPost has a story that nearly floored me, Palin claims Obama would diminish the Prestiege of the Presidency! Deliver me Lord!
October 9th, 2008 at 5:29 pmImpeach Pelosi, Cheney and Bush and Save the Constitution!
From the Antics of the Clueless, Oh Lord, Deliver Us!
Judging from the debate, I think the quote should be that:
Pain answers questions everyday. Only the questions that are asked don’t match the questions she answers.
October 9th, 2008 at 5:51 pmPalin answers the questions she makes up the fit the answers she was given by a campaign strategist.
October 9th, 2008 at 6:24 pmPalin: I have been ‘an open book’ and have had to answer questions ‘every day.’
Honey, I don’t think they’re talking about questions like “what kind of danish would you like with your coffee?”
October 9th, 2008 at 6:31 pmthe only open book she vaugely resembles is a pop up book.
for 3rd graders..
how in the lord can anyone not admit this lady is dumber than a box of ice? if any of these rightards were taken h)stage would they like to have Sarah Palin as the negotiatior trying to get thier release? how about directing the SWAT team? this lady would put the “special” back in special forces…
its amazing that there is 20-30 percent of this country who would pull the level for anyone who agrees with them, even if they were borderline retarded…this lady can’t be trusted to competently run a Waffle House let alone the White House..
October 9th, 2008 at 6:48 pmIt’s called verbal confetti folks, verbal confetti.
October 9th, 2008 at 7:33 pmObama had the cajones to go on Hannity for god’s sake. And Palin won’t talk to anyone but Hannity.
October 9th, 2008 at 8:32 pmShe’s obviously a lunatic.
October 9th, 2008 at 9:03 pm“She has yet to talk with NBC, CNN, or MSNBC.”
I can’t wait until she does. It’ll be hilarious!
October 10th, 2008 at 10:54 amShe’s obviously a lunatic.
She’s a fundamentalist (same difference)!
October 10th, 2008 at 10:54 amHow did Keith Olberman say it? Oh yes:
“This is a woman who thinks The Flintstones were a documentary!”
