McCain supporter calls Obama a ‘traitor’ at campaign rally.»

At Sen. John McCain’s (R-AZ) rally in Wisconsin today, one woman screamed “traitor!” when McCain criticized Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-IL) tax record. Huffington Post notes that after the woman’s interruption, “both McCain and his wife Cindy appeared to look in her direction. The Arizona Senator continued with his stump speech without referencing her.” Watch it:

At another recent rally, a man yelled “Off with his head,” when McCain spoke about Obama’s tax plan. As even Fox News has noted, McCain’s rallies are becoming increasingly hostile. “In recent days, when Barack Obama’s name has been mentioned, it has gone from boos and hissing to actual chants and calls of traitor, criminal, and even terrorist,” reported Carl Cameron.

Digg It!

  1. RUCerious Says:

These people who attend McIIIrd rallies and hurl epithets and death threats aren’t Americans. They betray the founding father’s dream of a rational democracy.
That McIIIrd doesn’t denounce it speaks volumes about the dishonor he brings upon himself, his slate, and his candidacy.

  2. scytherius Says:

Time for the Secret Service to investigate the McCain campaign. Can you imagine if we stood on the corner and did this? They would haul us away for questioning.

  3. nanlichi Says:

It’s probably the Secret Service guys yelling the loudest.

  4. Zimzone Says:

    OT:
PBS has an online poll posted asking if Sarah Palin is qualified. Apparently the right wing knew about this in advance and are flooding the voting with YES votes.

The poll will be reported on PBS and picked up by mainstream media. It can influence undecided voters in swing states.

Please do two things — takes 20 seconds.

    1) Click on link and vote yourself.

    Here’s the link:

    http://www.pbs.org/now/polls/poll-435.html

    2) Then send this to every single Obama-Biden voter you know, and urge them to vote and pass it on.

The last thing we need is PBS saying their viewers think Sarah Palin is qualified.

The smell of desperation is in the air. Same mentality that prevailed in Germany in the 20’s

  6. MCMetal Says:

Sad that this wrinkled old stupid skid mark is condoning this behavior by not condemning it ; even worse that he’s purposely illiciting these type of outbursts while spewing nothing but lies…..

    It’s all pretty despicable .

  7. raynman Says:

Thus, the slimy underbelly of the Republican Party is being revealed for all to see. These are the foaming at the mouth wingnuts that right-wing radio fertilizes with their hate speech.

  8. Guido the Loving OBGYN Says:

McCain seems to like the anger-based attention. Makes him feel powerful judging by that smile. That’s okay, McCain. I’ll be ready to kick your supporters asses when they want to go down that road.

  9. tom Says:

I hope that someone is taking names at the entrance gate to Unstable/Unable rallies. On November 5, it can be used to form the new terrorist watch list.

  10. Guido the Loving OBGYN Says:

Anderson Cooper nailed it. He said these McCain people aren’t even interested in solutions. They aren’t even listening to McCain. They want violence.

McIIIrd and his entire campaign are traitors to the intent of the founding fathers.

  14. Krazny Says:

Let’s hope the secret service is bringing their A game when Obama is elected. Things are going to get rough.

  15. misshusseinmolly Says:

There has always been some controversy as to what constitutes a genuine threat and what doesn’t. Most people agree that a typewritten letter sent to the POTUS claiming that if he ever sets foot in (name of town, county, etc.) his head will be blown off is a threat worth investigating. Most people agree that a drunken sports fan shouting “kill the ref!” at a football game is not.

But there’s a big fuzzy line running between the two extremes. It’s possible that these people shouting for Obama’s head are merely enthusiastic GOP fans in the “kill the ref!” mode. But even if that’s the case, the very fact that McCain and Palin tacitly support this kind of violent atmosphere tends to encourage it. And once it’s established as acceptable, it won’t take long for some nutcase to attempt to follow through on what the rabid fans are calling for.

McCain and Palin both need to shut down this behavior at their rallies. Now. No more ignoring it. Or even worse, winking at it and telling these boors that they “get it”.

  16. A Patriot Acting Says:

So nuns at a peaceful anti-war rally are put on terrorist watch lists yet a desperate, plummeting politician can hold rallys that incite violence and mob mentality, infer that his deeply vetted opponent is a traitorous friend of terrorists and HE’S a national hero??!! McCain, you are a pathetic small man. May I also add that you are a major p@ssy for not having the nads to say it to Obama’s face.

  17. DaTruth Says:

You don’t hear anyone in these rallies calling the idiot a traitor. He and his cronies staged 9/11, lied misleading this country into a criminal war, and is currently leading this nation into bankruptcy, what do you call that a savior?

McShame and his white-washed wife obviously approve that kind of talk in their rallies. They’re all for it!

  18. CageyCretin Says:

McCain and Palin clearly do NOT want to stop this behavior. This is the only way they can hope to win — if a nutcase hits critical mass with his/her hate. Of course, that could also be cause for ‘the worst case scenerio’ (martial law), either because of riots or because “we fear there may be riots”.

The only things the republican party have are hate and kool aid. And they are almost out of kool aid.

  19. outraged Says:

McCain’s rallies are beginning to resemble the daily “Two Minutes of Hate”. Just one more indication that 1984 is here.

  20. tokin librul Says:

They betray the founding father’s dream of a rational democracy.

    Duh.
In a word, so to speak, you’ve identified the whole purpose of the USer Information/Entertainment/Education/Propaganda project over the last 75 years.

Rationality is utter anathema to the propagandists of the CorpoRat State. There has been a conscious effort to drive it OUT of the schools for at LEAST the last 30 years.

The success of the campaign to eject rationality from the public sphere is the absolute apogee of state propaganda campaigns for EVER, the paradigm case, the utmost exemplar, unmatched, unparalleled anywhere in history.

Vistiges of reason hang on in some places, but the temper of the USer “public” is distinctly irrational, as the fascination with celebrity, the continued ‘debates’ over evolution/creation, and the campaign to ‘dispute’ global, anthropogenic climate change all demonstrate.

  23. Fox News Alert Says:

Check out the end where Grampy says that Senator Obama claims he’ll give 95% of Americans “tax release”.

Poor Grampy. He’s got nothing. Even Bill Ayres can’t save the election for him.

As from the bogus patriots chanting USA! USA!, Dr. Samuel Johnson said it best 200 years ago…

“Patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel.”

  25. Fred Says:

    tokin librul Says:

I agree with you 100%. Well said.

  26. upside99 Says:

This shows one more time how far McCain will sell himself out to be POTUS. A man who used to have respect of the majority of the American people is now an empty shell, whoring himself for the almighty throne.

    How sad.

“It’s easy to rile up a crowd by stoking anger and division. But that’s not what we need right now in the United States. The times are too serious. The challenges are too great. The American people aren’t looking for someone who can divide this country — they’re looking for someone who will lead it. We’re in a serious crisis — now, more than ever, it is time to put country ahead of politics. Now, more than ever, it is time to bring change to Washington so that it works for the people of this country that we love.”
    -Barack Obama-

  29. McWars Says:

PBS poll 49% yes/49% no? This is way out of order with other polls. These wingnuts should get off their asses and find something better to do than flood polls.

  30. BuckarooBanzai Says:

That’s an interesting word from supporters of the party that outed a CIA agent. Now that’s treason, so sez Poppy Bush.

  31. paleolib Says:

The McPalin rallies are the 21st century reincarnation of the segregationist south campaign meetings where the ruling class candidate would rail against the (black) enemy to froth up the poorly educated whites to support the status quo to their own detriment. Lynchings were often a result. Now at least we have cameras so the entire electorate can see what they are like.

Meanwhile, over the past two days Obama has cut a swath through the most right wing parts of Ohio drawing thousands wherever he stops.

  32. kevinbrown Says:

One thing that is not getting discussed is the absolutely fraudulent quality of these rallies particularly the “town hall” component. By now it should be obvious to everyone that when McCain takes a question from the audience the person asking the question is not merely a partisan but is in fact a PLANT who is reciting a question given to them by the McCain campaign. Yesterdays “town hall” looked especially like a poorly produced infomercial with phoney pleas from the audience for McCain to “take-off the gloves”. Aside from the fraud aspect – what this means is that John McCain is responsible not only for his (and Palin’s) despicable rhetoric but also for the despicable rhetoric expressed in the phoney questions posed to him. John McCain must have a low estimation of the American public’s ability to detect BS.

  33. Bullsmith Says:

    Stay classy, John McCain.

  34. liberal traitor Says:

As much as this stuff ticks me off and as much as it makes me fear for Obama’s life, at the same time there is a silver lining to this.

The more this stuff happens the higher Obama seems to go in the polls. The morons who are shouting this stuff at McFailin’ rallies were NEVER going to vote for Obama anyway. All this does is ramp up the disgust factor on the independents and undecideds.

    I hope I’m correct.

  35. Oval12345678 aka James K. Sayre Says:

Does old Johnnie McLoon look cute in a Brown Skirt? Maybe old Johnnie McLoon is hiding behind the Alaskan Brown Skirt. He said that he’d “take off the gloves” before the second debate, but he chickened out…

    Back to the real world:

Rebuilding America - step by step

    1. Get out of Afghanistan and Iraq. Stop wasting $3B/wk on stupid hostile foreign occupations.

    2. Rescind the Bush tax cuts to help cut the federal budget deficit.

    3. Reregulate the financial markets. Abolish all derivatives, which are just speculations, which don’t produce goods or services for the American consumer.

    4. Regulate the electronic oil futures market and other commodity markets. No more speculation, no more buying on margin.

    5. Institute not-for-profit single payer universal health insurance and universal health care.

    6. Withdraw from NAFTA, CAFTA and the WTO. Rebuild our tariff walls to traditional levels to allow Americans to manufacture goods for American markets.

    7. Raise the minimum wage to a living wage level of $12/hr.
    9. Cap any and all corporate CEO compensation packages at a maximum of one million dollars per year.

    10. Return to hand-counted paper ballots in all U. S. elections to end Republican electronic election theft.

    11. Start rebuilding our roads and bridges, which have been neglected since Reagan came into office in 1981, some 27 years ago.

    12. Reorient the FDA and the FTC and other federal agencies so that they again protect the American people and our environment, and stop protecting corporate greed.

    13. Institute 100% publicly-funded federal elections. Let the League of Women Voters hold all Presidential debates.

oh wait… i found a story FROM 2 DAYS AGO, reporting on a fox new report:

Fox report: ‘More and more’ McCain rallies are taunting Obama as ‘traitor, criminal, and even terrorist.’

    great job!

way to help out the DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTIAL NOMINEE.

tax status be damned… figure it out and help out.
    thanks.

  40. Marie Says:

The media must exert pressure on the McCain/Palin camp to denounce the hate-filled rallies they give their tacit approval to.
Anger, frustration and realization that the Republicans will lose the election are prompting the worst of responses from members of their audiences — and they remain silent.
These cries to “kill him” “terrorist” and “off with his head” must be halted and their behavior denounced by McCain and Palin.
The media must do their part in stopping this now.

Recall that posse comitatus has alredy been broken by Bush&Co. Our own army will be enforcing martial law and controlling public riots. Should violence break out for instance, if the election is stolen, or an attempt is made on Obama, we will be in a police state — and the McCain Palin camp should and will be held responsible for their tacit approcal encouraging such things. But at that point, it won’t make any difference will it?

  41. wiley Says:

I don’t know if he did it consciously. I don’t know if he does much of anything consciously, but he definitely appears to be giving a “thumbs-up” signal to the person shouting “traitor”.

    Yo! McIIIrd! ImPalin!
    Check this out!

Intrade today Obama 78.5% McHate 21.6%!

    Choke on it.

  43. Zooey Says:

Every time McStraitJacket lets these lunatics shout such things at his rallies, he betrays everything this country stands for. The fact that he can’t even PRETEND to quiet such obscenity is very telling about the lengths to which he (and his wife and running mate) will go to become president.

    It’s sickening.

  44. RUCerious Says:

It would be poetic justice if one of the loonies at his charade, er rally yelled out…

    BOMB!! IT’S A BOMB!

And the resulting cattle stampede resulted in self inflicted casualties.

  45. katy Says:

excuse my curtness, and anger, but the situation is the scariest thing i’ve experienced since i was a young girl…

i am crying for my country… and my neighbors… and, my family…

but i cannot condone this ugliness, no matter who…

    so shameful…

  46. Yankeluh Says:

  48. Marie Says:

We must pressure the media to denounce this shameful behavior at McCain/Palin rallies. Obviously the candidates themselves won’t do it. They must be shamed into doing so.

  49. katy Says:

  54. BuckarooBanzai Says:

The fact that McCain doesn’t call on his crowd to stop shows the utter contempt and disrespect that he has for a fellow US Senator. He will form a popularity caucus of 2 with Liebermann upon his return to the Senate.

  55. spencers mom Says:

The positive of these rallies is that most rational, thinking Republicans (yes, there are many!) are disgusted with the low info, low intellect crowds and their outbursts.

McCain is alienating an entire swathe of the GOP and he doesn’t even seem capable of comprehending it.

These rally ranters are more “skin head” than “conservative” and most people would rather not be identified as part of the same party.

PEACE (damn it, I mean it!)

    ENOUGH!

  58. Marie Says:

    Hi back to you, satirev,
I have already written to various media outlets and demanded that they denounce these dangerous and hate-filled rallies for McCainPalin.
I am worried for my family and my country moreso today than ever before. This isn’t going to end with the departure of GWB.
“Recall that posse comitatus has alredy been broken by Bush&Co. Our own army will be enforcing martial law and controlling public riots. This country is becoming frightening. First we have American soldiers on our streets, then we have political campaigns that allow hateful things to be said at their rallies. Next we will see McCain nutjobs attacking Obama supporters at rallies.

What have we become as a nation?

  62. Marie Says:

    Yes, Uncle Ho,
The USA has become Germany of the 1920’s/1930’s.
I believe that has been the plan.

  63. Bilbo Hussein Baggins Says:

I’d like the mob mentality to be much more productive; but that would mean accepting reality. Why do these people support the very people who caused this economic disaster? What do they have against earning an honest wage rather than support CEO pay that rewards the few? Where is pride in America to have excellent health care, roads, bridges, crime free cities and so many qualities of life that they rant against? America will only shine when poverty, ignorance, crumbling infrastructure are addressed instead of only myriad special interests.

I’ve read in several places that Graham and Lieberman are the only two Senators who will give McCain the time of day. That’s pathetic.

  66. Castelcomerkid Says:

The real traitor here is John McCain who also happens to be a first class(the only first class thing about him)coward. He could easily put an end to all this vitriol by cleaning up his and Sarah’s act. But all he has left is to demonize and try to destroy Barack Obama and it ain’t working.

Actually, they appear more similar to the Nazi rallies in Germany to me. But the purpose is the same: stir up the poorly educated whites (low information voters). Both resulted in terrible tragedy. The McCain/Palin rallies and amazingly negative (and scary) ads obviously could result in the same. But the danger isn’t really just the stirring up of those groups, but the wider group “mind” when operating within a mob mentality, many of whom are likely NOT low information or poorly educated.

Funny, but relevant story. Many years ago, the Beatles came into the airport in Denver, CO (I was 16 years old). They disembarked, and were driven in a limo around the perimeter of the airfield. I went down to see them, but having seen female “fans” losing it when seeing the Beatles, I swore there was NO WAY I was going to react that way. Didn’t take more than a minute or two, and I was screaming and jumping up and down with the mob.

This is typical of what the GOP has done for the past 8 years. They have used terrorism, fear mongering and hate to keep this country traumatized and subversive.
