Since you brought it up most BLUE states pay MORE in taxes than they get back in revenue and most RED states take in more in revenue than they pay in TAXES. That means most Red States are themselves on wellfare. Since most blue states have BIG populations that statistic is a lot more meaningful than the idiocy you tried to float.

I Read the article, but it doesn’t go deep enough to explore WHY commercial banks made the loans in the first place. There were a number of factors, but a big one was the Community Reinvestmant Act passed during the Carter Administration and put on steroids by President Clinton. It is simply a matter of record and historical fact that most commercial lending institutions sucuumbed to the bludgeon applied by the Federal Government to change long-held, financially sound rules for lending.

When I mention the role of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, I’m not talking about the direct loans they made, but the fact they bought tremendous amounts of questionable loans from these commercial banks, re-packaged them into investments and sold them on Wall Street. Commercial banks were all too happy to make the loans because they had a ready market for them in Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. It’s also a fact the these two GSE’s had NO credit underwriting standards!

Tell me, what is you opinion of Alan Greenspan? Have you read the transcript of his testimony to the Senate bsnking committee (Democrat majority) in 2005 concerning the risk posed by Fannie Mae and Freddy Mac?

The point of all this of course, is that I’m trying to get you folks to see it wasn’t the President’s fault! C’mon! How many time did this and prior administrations try to warn Congress of impending disaster? AT LEAST THREE – 1999, 2002, and 2005.

Lastly, which Senator worked on a bill to provide desperately needed oversight for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac – that’s right JOHN MCCAIN.

Be honest, now. You might start by recognizing how many times and by whom the alarm was raised. Hint, it wasn’t Democrats!

I thought about it after I made that post and realized that the reaction I’m getting here might be the best indicator of the “hive mind” mentality. I see it on a number of progressive blogs, but not all. I start expressing opinions and BANG! It’s very much like walking unawares into a bee colony, an angry one at that!

My point? Most of the responses I’ve received here were based on EMOTION – instant, gut-level raw emotion. No thoughtful discourse, no questions, just almost instataneous stinging personal attacks on my character. Kinda like a bee hives response to PERCEIVED danger.

I’m certainly no threat to you folks so why do I get treated this way? Groupthink… Group Politics, a hive mentality!!!

Each and every day, the left in this country prove that they are the LEAST tolerant of any group. Talk about trying to stifle free speech! The left is no more interested in dissent or free speech than Lenin, Stalin, Hitler, Castro, Chavez, et al.
