Jefferson's words inscribe on his memorial:

<blockquote>"And can the liberties of a nation be thought secure when we have removed their only firm basis, a conviction in the minds of the people that these liberties are the gift of God? That they are not to be violated but with his wrath? Indeed I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just: that his justice cannot sleep for ever. …"
</blockquote>

Do TPers agree with Jefferson and agree these liberties are a gift of God?

If these liberties aren't a gift from God, from where do they originate and what are we, U.S. Citizens, doing to insure these liberties are passed to our posterity?

What galmud said (#3).

Any clergyperson who thinks that Muslims and Christians pray to different Gods needs to return to seminary for a lil refresher.

Christian soldiers believe if you pray hard enough, god will kill your enemies for you - even if they're Christians (of one of the lesser denominations).
God also accepts prayers for lottery numbers, football scores and other sporting events.

The Democratic Party is a lot like a box of chocolates; you’re never sure where the nuts are - whereas the Republican Party is a lot like a chocolate fudge sundae, they tend to put the biggest nuts on top.

"Your reputation is on the line here Buddy Jesus and I don't know if I can believe in you if those OTHER Gods let Obama win so you BETTER get on the ball or else! 'Cause if I find out HIS GOD is BIGGER than you, well, I'm just gonna to take my hypocritical ass of a self home and get me a hooker or 6 just like Falwell, Baker and Haggart!
<em>I found an email address for Rev. Conrad at <a href="http://www.interimpastors.com/index.html" rel="nofollow">InterimPastors.com</a> and sent him the following message, using language he might understand:</em>

Great idea. I sent him one too:

Dear Pastor Conrad,

I must say that as a Christian, I found your invocation in Davenport today offensive.

What did you mean, when you said, "There are plenty of people around the world who are praying to their god, be they Hindu, Buddah, or Allah, that his opponent wins. I pray that you step forward and honor your own name."?

It seems to imply that you think God is, or should be, on the side of Mr. McCain, while only people of other religions think otherwise. Your words make it sound as if the non-Christian world is praying to their god for Mr. Obama to win, against God's wishes.

Your words not only insult millions of devout and faithful Christians, including Mr. Obama and myself, but they insult Christianity as a whole. They make God seem like some petty arbiter of your personal wishes. Your appeals to God's "reputation" (?) , and the honor of His name, clearly imply that you believe that these are questions upon which He would need your advice.

The concept that God would need your urging to protect His own honor and reputation by bestowing victory upon your chosen political candidate borders on sacrilege. Perhaps I have misinterpreted your words, but those are the strong impressions they convey, even upon serious reflection. I without doubt would be ashamed to be associated with any sect of Christianity that would impel me to endorse such words.

Sincerely,
A fellow Christian

I don't think I will ever understand how they can be assured in their Faith if they are so paranoid. A logical person, looking at how they operate, would be forced to think that they are convinced Jebus will kill them (by mistake?) if they don't hate unbelievers enough.

And, it would seem, that "unbelievers" are anyone who doesn't buy the crap a particular insane preacher is pushing. Though I'm sure there are more than a few who sit in genuine churches holding hate in their hearts without the benefit of an overtly xenophobic dogma.

I somehow ended up on a Fox News blog site where they were discussing how we were going to steal the election thanks to ACORN. [...] Anyway, I read some of the comments there. I felt immediately like I needed to take a shower to wash off the stench.

Yeah... I was at the same blog, Bilbo. I had the same reaction, too. I would have posted a comment here sooner, but I just got out of the shower.

Well I had to break the 100th post mark with yet another
"sweet jesus" verse:
Matthew 10:34
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

Maybe this is where they get their rage?

<em>gummitch Says:
I think we need to give the credit to TP. I have no idea how they did it, and they’ve been mighty quiet about it, but they appear to have virtually ended troll infestations here.</em>

I don't think that's it. I have noticed a lack of trolls at other sites like the Huffington Post. I think that the trolls are just really tired and discouraged. The fun has gone out of it. And, then, they aren't getting paid any longer so why should they waste their time?

I'm wondering when Obama will announce his take for September. It must be awesome if he is buying up 30 minute blocks of time on many stations.

God don't show up in court. God has no place in the government. Everywhere else, believe and do what thou wilt, so long as it doesn't interfere with the liberties of others. Secular government---is that really such a tall order?

<em>lurker Says:
I have some bad news for them:
Liberal. –In the King James version of the bible, “liberal” is a good word. The word “conservative” appears nowhere in the bible.
“The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself.” (Proverbs 11:25) “The vile person shall be no more called liberal, nor the churl said to be bountiful.” (Isaiah 32:5) “But the liberal deviseth liberal things; and by liberal things shall he stand.” (Isaiah 32:8) “Whiles by the experiment of this ministration they glorify God for your professed subjection unto the gospel of Christ, and for your liberal distribution unto them, and unto all men . . . Thanks be to God for his unspeakable gift.” (II Corinthians 9:13-15)

Do they even read the bible?</em>

Unfortunately even the King James Bible was not immune to liberal bias...It must suck being a conservative, seeing that even the book they adore is against them.../snark

The vitriol in the comments on that odious “What Will You Do…” site leads me to clean my pistolas…</em>

I somehow ended up on a Fox News blog site where they were discussing how we were going to steal the election thanks to ACORN. Apparently they believe that ACORN can register the same guy 72 times and get away with it and then that guy is going to vote 72 times. Anyway, I read some of the comments there. I felt immediately like I needed to take a shower to wash off the stench.

McCain is responsible for the rhetorical tone being set by his campaign and the threats being made at Obama at McCain rallies.
Repeated statements in news interviews, like, "We don't want a negative campaign that's why we don't talk about the terrorists that maybe Obama hangs out, we don't know what he's up to."
These statements on the Senate floor would cause censure.
<strong>Therefore the senate needs to begin Censure Hearings</strong>. I heard calls to Feinstein's office calling for hearings have been enormous.

Game of Life Says:

Mommy why do repugs call the progressives/liberals/the left looney when the repugs have the kkk, separatist, bombers, buttholes, hagee, Jews for Jesus, troopergate, gits and trolls?
___________

It's called "projection"...

From our good friends at Wiki:

In psychology, psychological projection (or projection bias) is a defense mechanism in which one attributes one’s own unacceptable or unwanted thoughts or/and emotions to others. Projection reduces anxiety by allowing the expression of the unwanted subconscious impulses/desires without letting the conscious mind recognize them.

This is also why GOOPers fear and hate "teh gay" soooo acutely.
