Palin: ‘No Abuse Of Power There At All’ In Troopergate Report»

A report released last Friday by the bipartisan Alaska Legislative Council found that Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) “abused her power” and violated a statute of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act — an act, the report stressed, that “is not optional.”

Since the report’s release, the McCain-Palin campaign has been in full spin mode. Campaign manager Rick Davis falsely claimed “there was absolutely no wrongdoing found in the report.” And when asked by a reporter if she abused her power, Palin dodged, saying “there’s nothing unlawful or unethical about replacing a cabinet member” — referring to her dismissal of Public Safety Commissioner Walter Monegan.

But yesterday, during an interview with the local CBS affiliate in Pittsburgh, Palin stooped a little lower, stating flat out that the Legislative Council’s report had found that she did not abuse her power:

PALIN: [T]he report that came out also was very clear in that there was no unethical or unlawful behavior on my part. … No abuse of power there at all.

Watch it:

Of course, not only did the report find that Palin abused her power as Alaska’s governor, but it also found — despite her claim to the contrary — that she acted unethically and unlawfully.

In fact, the media have caught on to the McCain-Palin campaign’s lies about the report’s findings. The Washington Post called Palin’s false characterization of the report a “reverse of the truth” and ABC’s Jake Tapper called it “flatly false.” The Anchorage Daily News, Palin’s home state newspaper, said Palin’s response is “downright Orwellian.”

But thankfully, Palin has vowed that McCain will clean up her act, saying last Saturday that “as president, he’s going to end those [abuses of power] once and for all.”

Digg It!

By losing the election and thus never giving Palin the chance to abuse her erstwhile Washington-based power. So yay McCain! That’s one campaign promise he can actually keep!

yep, thanks to her vp bid much has become public that had been swept under the rug. Very interesting.

I do believe she’s referring to the Troopergate report the McCain/Palin Campaign released that Thursday evening prior to the release of the official report Friday afternoon.

Can’t someone just read that part for her then ask

I find that Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act. Alaska Statute 39.52.110(a)

PATHOLOGICAL - just plain psycho-deranged. Not only does she relish lying to our faces, over and over, she gets all TITILLATED when she’s sowing hate speech and violence on the stump. Is this what a long-term commitment to christo-fascism does to a person?

What is it about Republicans and their inability to read simple statements:

There is no connection between Iraq and 9/11.

There are no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq.

There is severe danger of the levees collapsing in a major hurricane.

Torture is against the Geneva Conventions.

Perhaps the amount of private loans that these institutions are creating might have a nasty impact on the stock market if we should ever have a crunch.

The governor acted unethically and unlawfully.

I hope the next fact that they totally eff up is ‘the republicans are guaranteed to win this election’

  40. pete Says:

Bible Spice’s tortured syntax is a symptom. A manifestation of her juggling a list of lies that stretches back to her childhood. And so long as she is able to remain consistent to her inner voice? She convinces herself that she is being truthful.

She also gets angry when her illusions are challenged, which makes it incredibly frustrating that she’s being shielded from direct questioning. Because, if she were challenged in front of a crowd, she would fold.

  41. m3vega Says:

C’mon let’s be fair. We know she can read based on her performance at the VP Debate. The real issue is reading comprehension.

  42. IgnoranceIsNotBliss Says:

I am really sick and tired of this woman insulting my intelligence. Does she think that we don’t know how to read? Or does she think we are incapable of comprehending what we read?

Did the interviewer come back and ask her about the specifics in the report or did she let it go like everyone else does when it comes to questioning Palin?

I am sick and tired of this shit.

  43. Winski Says:

Should she have her seeing/reading eye dog get her the message?? OR, is it just too late once you have stepped into the land of NeoNut whipcreamery???

  44. lurker Says:

Kristine: The investigation by the Alaska legislature found that you allowed your husband in some cases, wrongfully, to use state resources as part of the effort to have Trooper Wooten dismissed.
Palin: Well you have the facts wrong there. Trooper Wooten is still an Alaska state trooper. He’s never been dismissed.

I guess I’m nitpickin here, but Kristine said “effort to
    have him dismissed”.

  45. Bozo The Neoclown Says:

i would LOVE to see officer wooten sell his story to the check out lane magazines like The Star. watch her base go buh bye

  46. galmud Says:

    She is un f* believable.

First she lies and says the reporter got her “facts wrong”. And in the next breath she contradicts herself and explains how her husbands meddling and pushing to get Wooten fired was “appropriate” because of death threats?

I’m sorry but just how stupid does Palin think people are!? “Death threats”? Really? What good would get Wooten fired do about that? And what do normal law abiding people do with death threats? They let law enforcement handle it.

Getting Wooten fired was obviously part of a personal vendetta

  47. JBaddo Says:

I could swear Sarah had a few drinks before she appeared in that interview. She waives her right arm in a slow, dismissive manner, exhibits slurred speech, eyes not fully focused.

  48. dasm Says:

Apparently when her church cast the witches out of Palin, it was ineffective.

  49. dasm Says:

A thought - since Palin can’t name any newspapers or journals she reads, and since she obviously has NOT read the report specifically detailing her abuse of power — is it possible Palin is illiterate? Now, being illiterate is not anything to be ashamed of, but it certainly might be a problem for a possible VP. It might also explain why she can’t answer any question for which she doesn’t have a memorized Repub talking point answer. In short, why doesn’t this woman read anything?

  50. Anacher Forester Says:

In short, why doesn’t this woman read anything?

Palin: ‘No Abuse Of Power There At All’ In Troopergate Report

    Yeah

  54. saywhat Says:

The woman is absolutely incredible. She literally looks directly into the camera, ignore the actual question entirely, throws out a bald-faced lie, then tries to make it sound as if this is what everybody would do. As if Governors throughout the country have their husbands and wives handling such matters.

Also: The reporter didn’t say Palin’s husband had Wooten “fired.” She said he put pressure on officials in a “effort” to have him fired yet Palin immediately says she has the “facts wrong” when in “fact,” the reporter was absolutely correct.

When this is all over and done with, I think Palin, through these kinds of exchanges, has destroyed any future in national politics. Any future opponent will run these tapes right up her ass during a campaign.

  55. MapleStreet Says:

How much does our current prezidunce read ? ;-)

  56. saywhat Says:

If McCain had chosen Ridge, Romney, Pawlenty or even Lieberman, he would be breathing down Obama’s neck.

His choice of Palin will be forever remembered as one of the biggest political blunders in American history.

It also tells you what kind of decisions this man would make as President.

  57. drago Says:

Governor Sarah Palin abused her power by violating Alaska Statute 39.52.11(a) of the Alaska Executive Branch Ethics Act.

“The legislature reaffirms that each public officer holds office as a public trust, and any effort to benefit a personal or financial interest through official action is a violation of that trust.”

Is Palin BRAIN DAMAGED, DELUSIONAL or a PATHOLOGICAL LIAR? wtf!

  58. Ivy9 Says:

Let’s say you are standing outside on your front lawn, minding your own beeswax, and a stranger comes up to you and suddenly, inexplicably, punches you in the face.

How would you feel? Incredulous? Shocked? So, you ask—”Hey man, why did you punch me in the face??!!”

To which they say say, “What? I didnt punch you in the face. That didnt happen. There was no abuse on my part.”

    I kinda feel like that.

  59. enzo Says:

    Keep this moving quickly…

PBS has an online poll posted, asking if Sarah Palin is qualified. (ask yourself, could she be president someday? OMG)

Anyway, Apparently the right wing knew about this in advance and are flooding the voting with YES votes.

The poll will be reported on PBS and picked up by mainstream media. It could influence undecided voters in swing states.
